To put things differently: There will NEVER be a casual mode in hearthstone. Archetypes and mechanics will be of short duration for 1 season in standard only and will have NO CHANCE in wild, where only general mechanic decks will prevail (like deathrattles, which seem to be getting even more edge with N'Zoth in wild). 0 variety in wild as well and no gamemode or space for fun decks and thematic decks.

Blizzard is very good at keeping people who hate their games playing somehow. Drug dealers regularly visit them for advice on customer retention. The result is 150k people on twitch watching a hearthstone tournament all saying how horrible the game is and how other games are so much better and why oh why is Hearthstone so popular. -

mk572 posted a message on Legendary Tier Crafting GuidePosted in: Card DiscussionWhen was the last time the top post was edited? There are a few really questionable entries in there.
Strongest - Expert (shouldn't that be Classic?)
* Malygos: Popular from time to time, but not used in any top tier deck at the moment. Malygos Shaman and Warlock have fallen out of favor, some dragon priests run him, and a few fringe rogues and hunters. Plus one of the Kibler Mage deck. Belongs in the second category.
* Thalnos: Used in some freeze mages and oil rogue, but all of these work without him. Second category.
Strongest - GvG
* Vol'Jin: Great card, but the strongest priest deck right now is dragon priest, and he's optional there. Second category.
Strongest - TGT
* Chillmaw: Great in dragon decks, but not a staple.
* Gormok: You're joking, right? Borderline disenchant. When was the last time you saw him? At least mention Zoolock, that's the only deck where he's useful. (But Zoo itself isn't top tier right now)
Tech legendaries - Classic
* There really needs to be a split here. Baron Geddon, Harrison Jones and Ragnaros see competitive play, the others don't. Al'Akir, Cenarius and Deathwing are extremely rare on ladder.
Tech - GvG
* Toshley should mention the Antonidas combo, Blingtron should mention Harrison.
Tech - TGT
* Eadric, Mistcaller, Dreadscale: Really? There may have been some optimism about these initially, but turns out they are not worth it. Varian and Rhonin, yes.
* Saraad: If the above are the base line, he doesn't belong here - he can be used in a lot more decks than just Tempo Mage, for example control warrior and even druid.
DIsenchant - Classic
* Mukla: Used in some Aggro Paladin decks
* Velen: Used for Priest OTK (hey, if you count Gormok as competitive)
* There are a few here that can be useful until you pull better cards: Onyxia (with Bloodlust / Savage Roar), Greenskin, The Beast (no really...)
Disenchant - GvG
* Troggzor: Can be used in control decks
* Iron Juggernaut: Mech or Fatigue Warrior (seriously, this one is underrated)
* Foe Reaper, Sneeds, Mimiron: If you disenchant these you'll miss a chance for fun decks later
Disenchant - TGT
* Aviana: a bit early to totally dismiss her
* Paletress: WTF? Can absolutely be used in Control or Dragon Priest
* Fjola Lightbane, Eydis Darkbane: Used in Gnimsh Druid, and experimental LOE Djinni decks. If you disenchanted these, you'll regret now.

Some thoughts about the recently released cards and overall opinion about shaman in the upcoming x-pack:
So first of all, I think we can all agree that shaman has been blessed with kind thoughts from the devs for WoG and that, regardless of how good the latest addition to our arsenal end up performing, Blizzard is really trying hard to give shaman an upgrade. We have been underdogs for a long time, and finally we are receiving the attention we deserved - maybe it will pay off, maybe it won't; it still nice to see some leisure to the struggles of being a totem maniac. WoG arrives with some top tier cards for Thrall, and it is a good opportunity to change our play-style.
One of these great additions is the epic card Eternal Sentinel, which at long last, provides us with some well-rounded counter mechanic to solve the enduring problem of overload as a crippling disadvantage in our play-style. This card is a huge deal - not only does it have average 2 drop stats, it allows us to play with some of the most ridiculously overpriced toys of shaman that we had long forgotten due to their big overload downside. With the Eternal Sentinel, Elemental Destruction is not only playable: it's good ! Even more so, if combined with Hallazeal the Ascended. It is a smooth play, unburdened by the awkwardness of an un-impacting Lava Shock, that offers loads of new plays and unlocks many ways to the art of the shaman.
Flamewreathed Faceless is another card which, in the circumstances of WoG, might actually be a very decent and even good card - it is an amazing tool for aggro shaman, and I would argue it might even have a spot in control shaman, considering Big Game Hunter received a solid nerf and we now have a solid way to play around overload. Fireguard Destroyer pales in comparison, and a turn 4 7/7 in a slower meta might actually be good enough to make it into standard play.
I findStormcrack to be a mediocre card that cannot really replace Lightning Bolt due to its lack of flexibility and superior mana cost, but I'm guessing extra spells with high damage might be useful in a deck heavily relying on Hallazeal the Ascended (although I can't imagine him being used optimally without AoE rather than single target spells). I wouldn't call that a priority pick.
Primal Fusion is certainly interesting, and it could fit some totem shaman archetype, or just provide a solid buff in the early stages of the game to gain board control - I really lack the ability to judge the usefulness of this card, considering we still have a practically non-existent knowledge of what shaman decks will look like and what meta WoG will implement.
Evolve I feel is a great card for a class like shaman who can easily manage to fill the board - upgrading a swarm of totems into random 2 mana cards is something I looking forward to very much. I appreciate the upgrading mechanic as a whole, and I feel this one card and Master of Evolution are really bringing some adaptability to the shaman play-style that is more than welcomed.
I am very interested to see what new decks might come with WoG, and I have been toying with the idea of a C'Thun-Shaman deck for a while - news of the recent cards only reinforced this feeling. Here is an early draft of what I theory-crafted so far:
As you can see, a lot of WoG cards are present here, and I'm sure that as we get to try out the new stuff, many things will come and go as we get to assess their real value, but as of right now it seems interesting to break in all this fresh material we've been given and try to accommodate shaman mechanics with the idea of a big finisher minion like C'Thun. Tuskarr Totemic and C'thun related cards such as Beckoner of Evil and C'Thun's Chosen act as strong openers filling the board and preparing the win condition, that can later be backed up by Master of Evolution or Evolve to maintain board presence as we delve in the later stages of the game. Flamewreathed Faceless and Thing from Below act as good mid-game cards which bring an early threat to the opponent, which are fairly hard to deal with efficiently, considering how cost-efficient they are.
Twin Emperor Vek'lor seems like kind of a wild-card, but I feel we should at least give him a chance in early C'Thun decks and see how it performs as a contender to the 7-mana spot left empty after the departure of Dr Balanced. Odds are you will have been able to buff C'Thun sufficiently by the time you can play this big-ass minion, and it will further your control of the board. Fire Elemental is always a solid pick, and Azure Drake acts as a card-draw mechanic for a deck which, arguably, will rely on you having the right cards at the right time.
Hallazeal the Ascended fits nicely here with a bunch of cards that have outrageous synergy with its healing ability - Lightning Storm becomes pretty damn powerful, and Elemental Destruction downright ridiculous, especially if an Eternal Sentinel follows shortly thereafter. It greatly increased your survivability, all the while nicely cleaning the entire board... AoE also combos with the Azure Drake, as one might expect.
Finally, the Hammer of Twilight acts as a nice, solid removal tool with an upside, that might or might not make a difference on the long-game; hopefully it will. Double Hex was added to the deck in order to deal with the myriad of big threats that will certainly be unleashed upon us as the meta slows down and as WoG brings its fair share of big scary minions with crazy powers.
Last but not least, C'Thunof course, has a monstrous impact on the board - you can imagine how a 10/10 or better yet, a 14/14 (best case scenario) might affect the board, after having distributed 10 - 14 damages among all enemies, minions and/or hero. It can either clean the enemy board in a bad situation and leave you with a sizable upper hand, or just hand you over the game by killing off the opponent. We don't know yet how C'Thun - and C'Thun deck for this matter - will perform, but it certainly seems like something Blizzard wants us to try, considering how many options they gave us to make it grow to ridiculous proportions.
Overall an interesting first draft, that I'll definitely try out when the time comes !

Siphon Soul and Imp-losion still seem like the best power-plays here. Free Soulfire/Power Overwhelming ? ... Meh, seems like there are better things to do with my shiny two-headed ogre mage.

I'm still pondering how the additions from this ex-pac will shape the currents decks - let alone what entirely new archetype they might spawn. Granted, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever to start planning such things with less than half of WoG revealed and no possible way to fully contemplate how the switch to standard (and the considerable cut in card-pool size) is going to affect our way to play; however some cards seem that strong that they stand as solid additions to the shaman's arsenal through-and-through, with little regard of what the meta looks like. I sincerely hope these cards will be the missing pieces we desperately been looking for to make control/midrange shaman a competitive deck again. Seeing Master of Evolution who is just stupid good stat-wise and effect wise (you could argue it's a slightly worse shredder, since it basically gives you a brand new minion, and a bigger one at that), it seems that the devs are just pushing the limits of Shaman's handicap by giving us top tier cards.
Looking forward to it.

Master of Evolution is complete bonkers - I love it ! I'm still wandering where exactly this card would fit, but I'm sure there is some spot to be filled with shredder exiting the standard mode. Can't wait to try this one.

Wouldn't get my hopes up for this - looks like Ultraxion, so probably (probably) a legendary card. Maybe a neutral one though.1
Definitely not the worst, but I always thought Kel'Thuzad's artwork looked pretty terrible, especially considering what other amazing portraits he has been given over the years...
I mean seriously:
EDIT: Loved the artwork so much I changed my profile pic
