posted a message on better use of gold?

You're going to be hating life if you're grinding out arena. Mode is so boring. Unless you love battling for board control with a bunch of garbage minions vs a bunch of garbage minions. You're also going to be hating life if you're grinding out a bunch of old PVE content for dust. Just save your gold, buy the mini set when it comes, and otherwise get back into the swing of saving for each expansion.

This actually isn't the worst time to do it that way either. In a few months a bunch of cards are going to rotate. And I know it's trite to say, but the current meta is kind of "meh". Other than paladin (which has a ton of cards about to rotate), the best decks are cheap dust wise anyways if you can scrape it together. Just get the UiS mini set and go crush it with pirate warrior - you'll probably catch a full refund whenever they get around to nerfing Mr Smite. Or go Face Hunter, and just skip Rinling's Rifle that's about to rotate...it's a good card, but hardly critical to the Face Hunter game plan (Kodobane probably worth a craft tho). My third choice would be one of the cheap agro Shaman decks - don't bother with Instructor Fireheart though, it's rotating and not that great of a card - more of a hail Mary kind of a thing. All the other decks are way too expensive and not worth playing in this meta anyways.

posted a message on Questline Raid the Docks

There's nothing wrong with this quest. Nobody was complaining about it at all before the mini-set. I opened this quest at UiS launch and have been playing it on and off since. It's always been kind of a suck deck, even after the buffs it just didn't match up well. The obvious issue now is the new mini-set cards Smite and Canoneer. I've been playing this new version now and those two cards are clearly OP. Who knew a new Leeroy Jenkins was going to be a problem? And Canoneer is nuts. It should only do two points of damage one time. Twice is too much.

So, I'm still not entirely sure from the response here if my original question was answered. For example, I've cleared all of my tasks and dailies. I now see two slots that say "Tomorrow another Merc will arrive" (or something to that effect). If I upgrade the campfire, will I now get three slots saying "Tomorrow another Merc will arrive"? Because if so, it might be worth upgrading. If not, it just means I need to stay on top of keeping my tasks and dailies clear.

Does anybody know what this provides for 200 gold? Does it give you more quests to complete per day, or just more quest "storage" allowing you more days until you have to come back to the mode and clear your quest log? I'm not really sold on the mode, and would rather not spend any gold on it at this time, but if it's giving you more quests per day, then I guess I have to spend the gold?

posted a message on Question about my new Quest Shaman Deck

Anywho, since the meta has become completely dominated by either Quest or Elemental Shaman, I decided to lookup at VS what beats those decks. Turns out nothing! Well, except Quest Shaman is favored over Elemental, so that's good enough for me! Only needed to craft the quest and good to go. Anyways, I have a question about this completely degenerate deck. When I cast my 3 mana, double Scrapyard Colossus and THEN follow that up with a Vivid Spores, does that mean I'm good for 8 7/7's with taunt? Or would it be 12 of them because of the double cast? Or is it just a measly 4? I never get the chance to find out because all of my opponents auto quit at that point.

    Also: LOL

I'm just running Barrens era Face Hunter. It's totally steamrolling everybody while they are busy fiddle faddling around with their tradeable cards and quest lines, lol.

Like some of the others here, I only seriously try to climb when I'm drunk. I'm not trying to be trite, it's the only way I can enjoy playing ranked. Especially the dreaded D5 to D1.

I don't think we think it's bad. Just that it's not going to be good enough. At least based on what has been revealed so far, what do we have? A tech card where tradeable will be obviously usable, no complaints there. A mage AOE removal that looks really good and will probably see some play. And then two other cards that have people saying, "meh there's better options."

I think a lot of people are thinking that the "meh, there's better options" outlook is going to be the common refrain here. Let's take the mage AOE, Fire Sale. This is a good card for mage, I can see it going in every mage deck and down the stretch I can see it being traded as the mage goes digging for some face damage to close out a match. But is it good because it's best in class, or is just good because mage just doesn't have any other good AOE options before Flamestrike? Imagine, for example, if mage also had a card that was the same as Fire Sale but instead of tradeable it had "and summon a random 4 cost minion". So, now in this case which is going to win out? Are you going to take the tradeable version over the version that gets you board control? And I think that's going to happen for a lot of tradeable cards...I think you're going to find that the first card that gets cut from a deck will have to be the tradeable version when something largely equivalent is available. Now, maybe they'll power creep the cards. Or, maybe it will get some keyword support (every time you trade a card get....). Then all bets are off.

I'm with those that think it's only going to be kind of "meh". I'm glad they're experimenting with it, but I think it'll only be useful for tech cards or perhaps high cost cards. The problem being, that we're unlikely to see really good cards printed with the effect. And if that's the case, you'll think to yourself when building a deck, "Do I really need this flexibility when instead I could just include a better card." There will also be a high skill ceiling to using it to its full potential. May have more popularity at high legend ranks, but lower ranks will probably just skip it and stick with the agro focus.

Edit: I guess my TLDR, is why have a card in your deck that you don't want?

    You're asking the wrong question.
Obviously I don't put cards in the deck that I don't want to play, however I do put cards in the deck that I only need in certain matchups, at least in a control deck.

Let's say for example that face decks infest the meta: in my deck I will put cards that heal me. If I can cycle them, even at 1 mana, I will cycle them when my opponent plays control.

The same goes for every tech card. But not only that, if I play control I must have AOE, if my opponent is OTK I don't need aoe so I cycle them.

Or I can cycle if I need solutions to a specific board or threat, not having answers in hand, or more generally to look for a specific card that can solve the game by itself.

Or maybe it allows me to play tech cards that otherwise I could not play, cards that move a lot in some MUs but against others are useless. In that case transforming the dead draw in a consumed mana seems to me positive.

And that's without talking about discovered cards.

Obviously this does not mean that the mechanics is OP. In theory the mechanic seems interesting, the strength, as always, will depend on how much Blizzard intends to charge for it.

Well yeah, it would be great if you could trade out for stuff you need. At least as of now, however, Hearthstone decks aren't built that way. They're built for matchups and mana curves. Using your example of control vs OTK, going to your deck for more draw is just going to pull more of what you already didn't need. You've built the deck with heals, AOE and drawing is just going to get you more of what you don't need. It's just a bad matchup and your deck doesn't have the right answers. Another example is rush warrior vs no minion mage. For rush warrior, trading cards with your deck for more draw is just going to give you more rush minions. Again, I see the potential for tech cards, especially anti-weapon cards, but that's about the only use I think it will get.

Edit: Another way to put it. Imagine that every current card in the game had the tradeable mechanic on it. However, as a tradeoff every one of those cards now cost one more mana (in addition to the one mana cost of the trade). Would a 5 mana Hysteria that was tradeable make the cut?

posted a message on Meta untouched after last patch

I don't think this meta is that bad. Not that great either. Just kind of meh. What I do find kind of ironic, however is that this was supposed to be the "minion" meta. And yet we have a bunch of decks that either don't run minions, like mage, or where minions aren't really all that consequential, like warlock. I kind of want to play the rush warrior deck, but I find my opponents just not playing enough minions to rush into.
