Again, thank you. I haven't understood everything folks have said (I've read Melacine's post four times and honestly have no clue what she's saying), but I appreciate the efforts.
i agree I am often very unsure when to go face vs trade - it's the reason I rope so often. I'm told not to control with an aggro deck, but when I don't I lose. And when I do...I lose. I played seven games with Pirate Warrior and lost all of them. Jade Druid just crushes me every time.
Riddle me this: HS says 50% of ranked players who play the game are below Rank 20. Which makes me an above average player, right? So why when I read these forums is there this overwhelming concensus that anyone with skills above "untrained monkey" should hit level 5 every month just by playing lots of games? Why...if I represent the majority... am I so alone with this problem?
First, thanks for the replies; there are far fewer "you suck" replies than I expected. I hope knocking me down provided the desired endorphin hit for those authors.
To the majority who have tried to help, thanks. Without appearing ungrateful, I respectfully think some of you don't appreciate the challenge currently presented in Ranks 18-25. It takes me two weeks to hit Rank 20 just to get the card back, and I enjoy managing to do that most months. Of course, those who hit Legend regularly start the next month at (I think) Rank 16 - so they would never see 18-25. Assuming the lower ranks are populated with totally inept players simply isn't true. Less skilled? Sure. But some kind of auto-win meta? No.
Many have asked for more information. I'll try to oblige:
I agree with those who say the fun is in being "creative" and making your own decks. Personally, I love making asymmetrical decks that surprise the other guy. My favourite cards include Tinkmaster Overspark, Crazed Alchemist and The Black Knight. Unfortunately, this is a recipe for disaster - when I make "creative" decks using my favourite cards I plunge very quickly to Rank 20. No exceptions.
So, I must play either the game generated decks or netdecks. Absolutely no choice there either.
As for downloading some kind of add-in software to record my games, I play on an iPad and I don't believe that's possible. But thanks for the idea.
Finally, the coin is a huge factor for me. I have an 80% loss rate without it. The rope is also a challenge, as I frequently rope-out and can't complete my turn. C'Thun decks were fun and easy - just play the C'Thun cards in order if you can draw them. I also like Highlander decks (even before Reno and other 'no duplicates' cards); they let you play more 'fun' cards, but as I said earlier - not good.
Anyway, thanks for the tips. I may bail for a while and ignore the next release. It's a lot less fun lately.
I've had it. I've - mostly - enjoyed this game since I joined it over a year ago. I have all the cards needed to make top tier decks. I watch the pros, I read the forums, I netdeck the highest rated meta decks and follow the guides. Most of my characters are level 60.
And I can't level above Rank 18. I played 40 hours last month and I simply ping ponged between 20 and 18.
Pirate Warrior? Jade Druid? Aggro Shaman?
Nope. Doesn't matter. And you don't need skill to 'slave' to a well written deck guide - which I tried to "take myself out of the equation." It makes no difference. In casual play, once my MMR settles in, I eventually get to a 50/50 win rate, but my opponents just have basic cards by then.
I sense the game designers know something is wrong, which is why they keep introducing new ranked play 'floors' to lure more people into ladder. Unless they are prepared to put a new floor under every star, however, I won't be sticking around.
i am interested in hearing from those who had this issue and improved. With Reno leaving, I'll be going with him if something doesn't change.
Phew! I love Druid and will still run 2 always - the value is the choose 1 - NOT the body stats! So...whew! Kinda like a bullet narrowly missing its target :)
There is..quite literally...absolutely no point to this card now. Unless one of the remaining reveals for WOG is a "give all your golems charge" or something. Might as well have dropped the card entirely.
Well, now that guys like me actually have a chance, perhaps I'll let you know when I get there. And yes, for those of you bent on staring the obvious, I'm a bad player. I lack the ability to anticipate and make good moves. So what? Who said Hearthstone was only for good players?
Clearly, Blizzard wanted to give guys like me a chance. And I'm taking it!
iPad....never had or seen this deck tracker thing. Also...are you saying that the card still works even with doubles in the original deck, provided you have played any doubles before you play him? I thought that AS CREATED the deck could only have one of each card.
Before League of Explorers, I couldn't ladder above Level 16 due to various aggro decks (Zoolock, Face Hunter and Zoo Pali) shredding my control, tempo and midrange everything. Now, with so many cards, using one of each with Reno Jackson I get a full heal!
I mulligan for it, and play it whenever I get below 12 health. With the full heal, aggro decks simply cannot survive my larger minions in later turns (which I would never reach before as I was killed by turn 5). I have played six games on the ladder and I won all six due solely to the full heal.
FINALLY. Guys like me have a chance to ladder again!
Wow. I have not experienced the meta you guys are talking about. I have never seen this "secret paladin"?! 4/5 opponents are zoolock or face hunter for me. Oh, and I lose to them according to the following formula:
With the coin, loss rate is 50%
No coin, loss rate is 80% (I just resign now when I go first - pointless)

Best looking gold card in the game:

Does this mean the Rogue's hero power will be free?

.?? I was unaware it was ever used to do anything other than grant stealth for one turn. Never played it, never saw it played.

So it's Nov 12 and....it's still "unavailable"? Restarted repeatedly. Use an iPad. Why?

I'm not a skilled player (being up front) and can't get passed Level 14. This is my Control Warrior deck, and I'm seeking comments & advice:
0
Which one do I craft:
Justicar Trueheart, Ragnaros the Firelord, Baron Geddon or Varian Wrynn?
I play Control Warrior and Paladin mostly. I already run the following in my two, main decks:
Control Warrior Legendaries:
Alexstrasza, Ysera, Nefarian, Grommash Hellscream, Sylvanas Windrunner and Dr. Boom.
Paladin Legendaries:
Tirion Fordring, Eadric the Pure, Dr. Boom and Ysera.
