Oh, they absolutely did, as the latest info on the subject is as follows:
For almost all of Magic's history, best-of-three play with sideboarding has been the go-to solution for competitive play, and it's survived the test of time due to its strategic depth and competitive balance. With the upcoming Mythic Invitational, we're working on an alternative format that has multiple games per round but doesn't include sideboarding. As with any other time we've bucked tradition, we're heading down this path for what we believe are compelling reasons.
So, Magic basically axed Bo3 and Sideboards, while Hearthstone decided to use Bo3 and Sideboards... Such a funny moment when two major competitors believed their rival had a better competitive format and copied each other almost at the same time.
I doubt that it will be the Year of the Dragon if only because TESO currently (and for the rest of 2019) has the Season of the Dragon and copying season name from a competitor would be bad PR.
I agree with Trimutius, handbuffs feel super awkward as a Warlock theme. They should've sticked with buffing their Demons on the board. Even minion buffs in general should be more of a Priest or a Paladin thing.
Speaking of other cards that dilute class identities, Gilded Gargoyle should've been a Rogue card. I don't think there is any logic behind giving it to Priest. And there are many more misplaced cards, especially in recent sets.
I have a feeling that most people support the 'core set' idea only because they think that it somehow means that Blizz would give away a lot of cards for free. Cards that other people paid for. That's not going to happen, get over it and enjoy the game for what it is. Or move on.
At 6 mana most classes will be able to deal with it, even if it's coined out. Coin+Spellstone was a blow-out play on turn 4 that few besides Priest and Warlock were able to counter. Now splashing secrets into an aggro deck just for the Spellstone won't be worth it.
Unpopular opinion here but I still think that even @ 4 mana Equality is still playable in slow paladins. Pyro will probably be mandatory though as Consecration alone will be too slow to combo with it.
Equality will still be very good against Midrange decks, you will just need something else to combat Aggro.
Looks like a nerf that's mostly targeted at Wild but honestly I don't think it will make Even Shaman that much less opressive in Wild. At some point they will have to address at least Thing from Below as well. Considering Barnes is still intact, I suspect there will be another round of balance changes for Wild some time after the next rotation.
4 damage for 2 mana is still not bad. Minions with Lifesteal and Windfury are still a reason to run Cold Blood over Eviscerate. Or you can always run both, if your deck is built for it.
He is incredibly versitile and useful in almost every situation. Great against in any deck, neutral so he can be used in every non-odd deck. Suprised it's only 27.5 tbh
They had to bring 4 decks and they all brought Hunters with DK, 13 decks out of 16 are of the same 4 classes (they had to pick 4, remember?). Meanwhile, 3 classes are completely absent. I wouldn't say this is a versatile meta.
It's not just about keeping the heroes close to 50%, it's about giving particular heroes trash picks, which pushes even skilled players closer to 50%. Because even if you know which heroes and cards are good in Arena (which is definitely an important part of a player's skillset), you can't pick them if they are not offered to you. If you had no clue which offered hero you should pick or which card is better, the update is going to be good for you. The game will rig your picks to keep you close to 50% anyway.

What? How much money are you making in standard?.. We're not talking about proscene that is 0.0001% of the playerbase.

Even @ 2 mana it's still not bad. Hunter has a lot of options to deal 1 damage, any deck that actually wanted to play this card will still do so.

*can be used in every non-even deck...

Funny fact. 79.5% of the decks are for the same 4 classes (each player had to pick 4). The other 5 classes combined make up the remaining 20.5%.
