Yes, obviously that is what they mean -- 1,000 ranked wins, any combination of Standard or Wild.
The blue post didn't distinguish between ranked and casual, just "wins"... so no, not so obvious.

Awful moneybait content. Ben Brode team are crying in a corner seeing their game going downhill like this... or maybe he's really laughing due his new $$$$$ patron investment.

Perhaps it's game fatigue or whatever you want to call it but I think Blizzard has made a huge mistake with design philosophy of the current cards they've printed and continue to fail to learn the lessons from the cards they've printed in the past. The game has seriously lost its way/fun for me with decks becoming so polarised that you pretty much know before the game starts if you’re going to win or not (full disclosure – I mostly play a control Shammy deck and mid-range Quest priest though this deck loses to just about anything…).
First off we have the coin-flip card design. Did the opponent get Pocket Galaxy on turn 5 or summon 20-mana worth of murlocs on turn 5? Yes - you lose - no you win. Did they get a board of 8/8’s on turn 5 – sucks to be you! I know there’s an argument that a card game always has an element of chance but these cards are so stupidly powerful it makes for a very un-fun game experience. It's a terrible design philosophy dating back to Barnes and his high-roll mechanic. What makes it worse is that it’s often difficult to balance cards like these because they’re not (always) the problem on their own. They either do nothing useful and aren’t played in any decks or they ruin the game. Here’s my top tip to Blizzard – stop making them (or at the very least react quickly when things don’t go as you expect).
On the flipside we have control warrior. Warrior lacks many things as a class package but removal and card generation aren’t one of them. Strange then that Blizz would choose to print another AoE removal, a taunt card which generates a taunt and a new rush/reborn minion which can be tutored out of the deck and can reliably remove 2 minions. Combine that with all the tools Dr Boom provides and the inexplicable decision to make the Tomb Warden a mech and we have a deck which can reliably do nothing but remove everything…every…single…turn and generates enough late game threats to wear you down. I watched a deck showcase on Quest Paladin vs Control warrior. The Paladin won (as you might expect given the nature of this match up), but what was surprising was that turn after turn after turn multiple 8/8 and 7/7 minions were being cleared with the warrior only running out of steam after Da Undertaker hit the field and got cloned.
Maybe Hearthstone has been intentionally changed and people like they way it is compared to how it used to be. I don’t. I liked having to think about which minions to trade, whether it was better to heal the face of the warlock to deny him giants or push for lethal. Having to decide how much heal/taunt was required to stand a chance against face hunter. Hearthstone now feels very much like a single player game. You do your thing, your opponent does their thing and whoever’s “thing” happens fastest/bestest wins! I’m not saying there’s no skill involved, but the mechanics introduced have certainly reduced the impact of skill vs. luck. As a winner of the Masters Tour Seoul said when asked how he out-skilled his opponents – “I focussed on playing Luna on turn 5”. Says a lot really.

A major issue, in my opinion, is how Blizzard markets the game. They push the line that it’s a skill-testing competitive esport. So, when try hard players get screwed over by RNG, and lose to worse players, it feels really bad.
On top of that, the game is extremely expensive. If you have spent hundreds of dollars on your decks, but are still losing to bad RNG, it feels even worse.
The fact is, Hearthstone is not a real esport, it is really an extremely high variance game which is designed for casual fun. If you play perfectly, you will still lose 30%+ games. If you view the game as casual fun, and probably don’t spend money on it, it becomes much more enjoyable and less toxic. Don’t take Hearthstone too seriously.

Hearthstone provides a toxic atmosphere that serves as the basis for much of the aggravation that is present, particularly in the thread in which players are allowed to voice their displeasure. It is quite fascinating that these behaviors are accepted instead of contesting Blizzard for creating this negative environment to begin with.
Consider the emote system. It is highly unlikely Blizzard implemented such a system with the idea that players would use it in good faith by promoting sportsmanship. Instead, the exact opposite has occurred. For a game that is advertised as being fun, it has much work to do to succeed with that standard.
Another layer of aggravation is the RNG element that provides even more frustration. There are too many instances where RNG decides the winner of a match. What Blizzard has done is manufacture a game that serves to annoy much more than to please. Even more perplexing is they have earned a considerable profit doing so.
Questions: How does one explain such a conundrum? What is Hearthstone at it's core? Is it simply a game or is it an addiction with terrible side effects?
Discuss.

If you don't care about his/her opinion, just don't read it. Absolutely no need to act like a complete douchebag. This is a forum, where people write their opinion about things and that's what happened now. The baby rage support group for those who pointlessly and thoughtlessly complain about someone writing his argument-based opinion is also next week. Cheers
This.
The thing ruining HS, for me, is the random card generators. They have increased significantly, over earlier iterations of the game. Importantly, that form of RNG is NOT controllable, you can’t play around literally hundreds of possible generated cards.
It’s obviously a design choice, probably to provide meme material for streamers, but it makes the game no longer competitive. So many games are decided on pure RNG (and I’m not talking about draw variance).
Current HS is fine as a fun, casual game, to not take seriously. But it will never be a legitimate esport in its current form, despite the narrative that Blizzard marketing shoves down our throats.

Oh cool another poor sport bming his opponent. Where's that thread about toxicity where people were saying the game isn't a toxic community?

what the fuck are you on? no it doesnt make the deck worse.

1. Anthem developers are more competent than the Team5.
2. They didn't nerf warrior to encourage more people to waste their dust on the high cost of it, which would result in less crafting later on, which they hope results in more pack purchases. Bc greed & meme runs this shit not fair competition.
2
Why am I forced to play at level 15 b/c I hit that ranked mark? Let me turn that feature off because I don't care about the grind. I rather have fair matches with my skill and my decks in mind.
I literally lost 10 matches in a row playing meme warlock mecathun decks to net decks and I should be what, level 17 now?
I shouldn't be forced to tank my ranking when I hit level 16 to avoid this bullshit of having to be a bottom feeder. Man, why do so many multiplayer games encourage this sort of bullshit mismatch matchmaking; it's a fucking bullying mentality at its finest.

sweet! hopefully, we get to pay $7 bucks a wing again! oh wait, I'm not spending any more money until warrior is nerfed.

If you've watched the tournament this weekend then undoubtedly you've seen several instances of players taunting and BMing their opponents in RL. Toxicity is everywhere in this game.

I really enjoyed this post and I’m beyond the point at having much positive to say about this game.
I do think this game is designed in a way to play off of consumers frustrations and luck in a similar manner to how the news makes money off of BS click baiting, negativity, and drama.
Outplaying opponents and losing to rng is beyond frustrating. I’m even to the point of feeling like I don’t deserve wins when rng memes shine in my favor. Neither is fun.
I cannot believe people still pay for this cash grab designed around gambling addiction and negativity.
