Out of all the quest rewards, this is by far the shittiest one, Shaman draws you 10 cards, Hunter adds 15 broken cards to your deck, Lock gets constant threats, Rogue gets permabuffed creatures, Priest gets Reno on steroids, Pally just gets Siphon Soul'd (or any other single target removal, even Earth Shock would leave you with a 5/4 quest reward) and goes sit on the corner to cry.

Kind of sad, really, another year of paladin being left so far behind, i can't even.

To be fair with 5 adapts its kind of likely that you can pick up the cannot be targeted by spells effect.

Shame Djinni of Zephyrs is rotating out, maybe pally will get a class card like djinni that has synergy with buffs and would count as an extra buff cast on your minions at the same time.

Fjola Lightbane and Eydis Darkbane were also very cool creatures for this archetype. Its possible we have more buff friendly creatures in the future but to be honest I was always sort of under the impression that buffadin worked better with general value minions followed up by solid buffs than it did to focus too much on synergy creatures. Back when we had shieldbot and Piloted Shredder was probably better since those were just good value creatures.

Regardless, I love buffadin and will probably craft and build it even though I know it seems a little unlikely to be great.

posted a message on Paladin status: still garbage.

Paladin suffers from too few generally good minions. Back when we had Shieldbot and Muster we had things that were just generically good drops. Too many of the pally cards right now are situational cards which are still good cards but we need general value that really dropped off when standard rotated last. Since the last standard rotation we have had what, N'Zoth which we have one class card to support, and Anyfin combo (which is a meta dependent deck).

What pally lacks right now is just generically good standalone cards. We lack removal so what we need is generically good value minions that are not situational or build dependent (aka things they dont want to do now).

posted a message on New Card - Bomb Squad

This card actually interests me as someone who likes playing Palladin. Pally has an abundance of ways in which to heal themselves but limited ways to remove creatures. Considering Truesilver is one of the few good pally equipment right now this sort of acts as an immediate hit to a creature who leaves a body that will make you take the damage later.

This card also counters Sylvanas as you can kill her with its battlecry and then trade them the bomb squad. The drawback lies in the deathratle so that seems fun.

This could be good for buffadin assuming they are ever to work considering how many buff cards there are to choose from plus it comes with a body that gives you life. I like the concept. I guess we will see but I think it looks promising.

This deck has been a lot of fun to spin up myself. A few things I did notice:

    1) Priest seems to always be a bit rough just because of how many effective removal effects they have. Pushing the hero power to dropping 2x tokens seems huge and force them to deal with that because it feels like they have the entombs to handle the N'Zoth plan.

    2) Not that anyone is actually doing it but evolve mechanics in shaman feels terrible with the power setting tactics. Like I said though, like nobody is doing it really but I ran into apparently the one guy who was.

Its a really really cool deck and it takes a lot of thinking but is very satisfying. Its one of those decks that you really want to know what all your opponent might be playing before you do things because a lot of the tricks take correct timing which takes a lot of practice and experience to do properly (I don't do them properly yet lol).

posted a message on Rekt by pity timer, looking for suggestions

In those 100+ packs you should have gotten most everything in the common / rare slot plus gotten a good assortment of epics. I assume that you also have a good bit of dust just from duplicates as well given what you got.

So, now you have two options from how I see things:

    1) Craft everything you need and be done with it and stockpile gold for the next adventure / expansion or start doing arena with your gold.

    2) Keep opening old gods and accept that you are missing some things. Honestly though opening more old gods sounds like a waste of time if you have the dust to make what you need as you will be trashing most of the non legendary cards.

posted a message on Will hero's get additional powers to choose from?

As others have said, its more likely that we see cards that alter or augment hero powers but its also possible that they consider re-balancing some hero powers or changing them out entirely based on power level. Realistically it seems like the most likely thing is that they alter hero powers based on creatures and or spells though rather than change how the game works fundamentally.

Given what looks to be a budget list, I would suggest considering some of the following:

Djinni of Zephyrs - given that you have a few League of Explorers cards I assume you have Djinni as well since they were week 1 in the League of Explorers. What I like about these guys is that their stats for the mana is kind of just fine as is but then you consider dropping a Blessing of Kings on a random 2/2 and suddenly you are stacking buffs very effectively.

Blessing of Wisdom - it might not seem like much but I have had this card win me a lot of games. If you can gain control of the board you can use this to force opponents to target and use spot removal on less optimal creatures. It is also very powerful when buffing a Djinni + another creature. Its always a cheap cast buff but it really can push opponents to have some issues.

Argent Protector - the divine shield on demand can help you turn a trade into an outright kill. The fact that it comes with a 2/2 body as well helps too as it gives you some extra trading fodder / board advancement.

Loot Hoarder - I run these myself in my buffadin deck. What I like about them is that even though some classes can hero ability and kill him it takes as much mana from them as it did from me to drop. It also replaces itself in hand and if they are not one of the classes that can ping they have to remove him through removal or trading. He buffs just fine and adds up in trades nicely.

Azure Drake - it has a good body to it and it can keep your game going by having that card draw + a decent body for the mana.

Actually, shaman wasn't T1 in the old meta. It has actually improved in this meta because they got more robust minions and its harder to get good heals now.

Aggro shaman was the dominant deck archetype for about eight weeks prior to the release of WoTG...
I wonder how much of that was based on the fact that it had a low rotation count and people wanted to familiarize themselves with a deck that might be popular post new set release. I sort of stopped paying attention to the meta in the last month or two before the change and just ground out my quests for the gold for the new set.

Post-Naxx after the Undertaker nerf was probably the best era; it introduced staple cards that allowed midrange and control decks to flourish, but still left room for aggro, tempo and OTK decks to work too.

When GvG was introduced it had horrible power-creep, and every deck started using the same damned cards at the core.

Its actually interesting to compare the GvG set to the current meta where there is FAR less staple neutrals right now. It actually seems like most non C'Thun decks are much heavier class card built now.

Dont get me wrong, shaman was good in the old meta but it wasn't quite as effective. It was good vs mage decks which might have been why most mage decks were not considered tier one but last I checked in the old meta it was mostly patron warrior, druid midrange combo, and secret pally as Tier 1. Zoo loc might have been considered tier 1 near the end but I paid less attention to things as we went to rotation.

posted a message on Is this the best period of hearthstone, yet?

The biggest thing I have liked about this current setup of hearthstone is the large card movement. Adding a new expansion while dropping out a large portion of cards really turns over a lot of things and changes things up on a large scale.

All that said, I am not 100% sure that I am happy with what decks are seeing play right now. I do like the directions they tried moving to with the nerfs but I think that balancing the nerfs with adding the new set in plus rotating the old stuff was a lot to do all at the same time. I think it made things interesting but at the same time I dont know if things are as balanced as they otherwise could be because of how much change we had all at the same time.

Overall, yes I am having a ton of fun right now but I would say its more to do with the amount of change we have right now and how everything is sort of in flux and less to do with any one element of this new set.

posted a message on Is Standard should be auto checked for Deckbuilder

When you go to build a deck nowadays, standard only is an auto filter applied in game. I feel like every time I go to browse through cards to deckbuild I always notice wild cards in the sort after I start searching and I have to wonder if "Show Standard Only" should be auto checked or if the checkmark should be changed to "Is Wild" and the checkmark left undone leaving standard as the default. It seems to be the direction that blizzard is supporting and given that its the default of the game client itself I feel like hearthpwn should follow suite.

Just my own $0.02 on the matter. Yes, its not that much work to check it but its also something that easily could be adjusted to leave standard as the default since its what is being pushed moving forward.

posted a message on Permanently quit?

Honestly, Blizzard is new to this rotation thing. I think as a whole it will be very exciting as we will have big turn overs and a shifting meta so I look forward to how things go. I would not hold this release as how all releases will go because honestly so much is changing that its going to be surprising if we do get a well balanced meta out of things.

Overall, I have had a TON of fun trying to figure out the new meta. I cant say I am all that happy with where the current meta seems to be shaking out to be but at the same time, the process itself is incredibly fun and interesting. I am already stockpiling gold for the next adventure / expansion as my hope is that if I keep playing this game moving forward that I am done spending actual money on it.

My opinion is try to keep going for another few weeks until the meta flushes out at least. After that, if you dont like the meta you can quit for a while. Personally I cant bring myself to play Hearthstone for more than a few hours a day but thats not because I dont like it but because I just get a little fried on it after that much time. Try seeing if you cant shift your priorities and say yes to people asking if you want to do something instead.
