posted a message on What just happened?

I was playing against a Quest Mage when all of a sudden, they played 2 Molten Giants and 2 Arcane Golems with charge. Did I miss something? It happened so fast I don't remember them playing anything other than Time Warp.

posted a message on Desperately need help in Arena

Best Streamers to watch for Arena would be Trump: (Look up his Youtube channel since he doesn't do Arena as much as he used to on his stream), ADWCTA, Hafu, and even though his winrate has gone down (and doesn't do Arena much either now), Kripparrian still has videos on his Youtube channel with good tips and advice.

I don't use Heartharena that often, but I've had mixed experiences with it. I've had some great runs and some terrible runs using it, but it's still a handy tool to have if you want feedback on which 3 cards to choose. Sometimes I use it just to get a second opinion and won't always go with it's recommendation.

Watch streamers and study how they build decks and the way they play. Play style in Arena is different than constructed. It's more focused on minion combat and board control. You also don't play around certain cards like Flamestrike in Arena because the odds of you opponent having it is small. The only way to get better at Arena to keep playing.

What about a card that reads "While this minion lives, you cannot be overloaded". It would have to cost around 8 mana to not be OP.

posted a message on So Whirling Zap-o-Matic is a terror

Just got my first turn 4 win with this little guy. Opening hand was Whirling Zap-o-matic, Annoy-o-Tron, and Rockbiter Weapon. I also had the coin. The poor Druid couldn't deal with it and never stood a chance.

I doubt this will happen more than once in a great while. I benefited from incredible rng and I'm still not a fan of this card. Most opponents will immediately answer it on their turn. Unlike cards like Haunted Creeper it's not a sticky minion. I'll keep experimenting and see if I get lucky again.

posted a message on Which Cards should I disenchant?

I know it's very early, but which GvG cards are considered worth disenchanting? I got Mogor the Ogre and Hemmet Nesingwary and can't see them ever being used in a deck. I'm also considering disenchanting my Fel Reaver as well as all the 50% Ogre cards. Any opinions or advice?

Yeah, Trump is usually introduced as the Mayor of Value Town so I never understood why he wasn't the host from the beginning either.

posted a message on The New Value Town?

I tuned into today's Value Town and was surprised that Trump took over as the host. I watch the show occasionally (prefer to just watch Trump's streams instead) so I don't know if this is permanent or not. They spoke briefly about the Chanman/Reddit controversy, which I wasn't aware of, so I guess that's why they made the switch.

Overall, I thought it was a much better show. I never understood why Trump sat there looking bored most of the time while Chanman did all the talking. I thought it was such a waste of Trump's knowledge and personality. If Trump becomes the permanent host I'll be tuning in much more often. Value Town will be more entertaining with him at the helm.

posted a message on Druid Arena Pick. Where was my error?

Your lack of experience probably had a lot to do with your result. I would suggest playing with Druid a little more before choosing it again in Arena.

That being said, a few picks I would have done differently:

    - Healing Touch over Mark of Nature. Mark of Nature is generally bad so the additional healing is preferred.

    - Frost Elemental over Tauren Warrior. Frost Ele is just too good to pass up. It's just so good in Arena.

    - Murloc Warleader over Doomsayer. Better to have a 3/3 minion than a situational board clear.

    - Wrath over Scarlet Crusader. Wrath is a top tier spell and should be chosen almost every time.

Other than that, I think your picks were pretty good. You just need more practice with Druid.

posted a message on Most embarrassing misplays? :)

I was playing as a Shaman in Arena and went up against a Mage. On the Mage's turn one, they play Mirror Image. On my turn two, I Hero Power and get the Taunt Totem. On the Mage's turn two, they play Crazed Alchemist...on their own Mirror Image! Don't know if that was a mis-click or they were trying to buff it and didn't realize minions can't have 0 health.

posted a message on My first double defeat

I was playing some matches in casual to complete the daily today and both my opponent and I ended up defeated.

I was playing a Paladin and my opponent was a Mage. I had board control and brought them down to 2 health (They had no minions on the board). I was down to 5 health and just hoped they couldn't do that much damage. They threw down an Azure Drake to draw a card, then hit me with Frostbolt and Fireblast. I had 1 health left and prayed they didn't have anything left, but the Mage used their last card which was Arcane Missiles. Two of the missiles hit my minions, but the final one hit me. Defeated...well, not quite.

One of the minions left on my board was a Leper Gnome and it was hit by one of the missiles. It's death rattle triggered after I died and damaged the Mage doing the final 2 damage. My opponent's portrait blew up, which almost made me think I won the match, but it still counted as a defeat. I'm confused. Did my opponent loose as well? If so, how would this work in a Ranked match? Would both players loose a star?

posted a message on Interesting things learned from todays Arena run

Yeah, this deck definitely exceeded my expectations. As you stated, it did get more difficult as I progressed. My final loss was against a Warrior with too many good cards. He had an answer for everything! If I had a few more options, I might have gone further.

I like to get one BGH just in case. You can always do the Mark of the Wild, Abusive Sergeant or Dark Iron Dwarf combo in extreme situations. Unfortunately, it can be a dead card in your hand and not played until you absolutely have to put something on the board.

Thanks for the tip on not picking too many spells or removals. I've had drafts before where I picked allot of spells and didn't have enough actual "drops". Suffice it to say, those matches didn't go well (>.<)

I finally got a decent Arena run after an almost month long slump and wanted to share some thoughts on my deck. My first three runs today went 2-3 which were disappointing. I made mistakes which cost me matches and I don't think the drafts were as good as they could have been. Instead of calling it quits, I decided to go for one more run and went 6-3. The highest I've ever gone is 7-3 so this was very encouraging.

I learned some surprising things from my final run:

Master Swordsmith and Raid Leader are not considered particularly good cards, but they really shined in this deck. I ended up drafting a very aggressive deck and these two guys worked there butts off buffing my minions.

Another card that really shined was Sprint which is also not considered very good. I usually had it in my hand around turn 7 which was the perfect time to draw cards, especially against Mages when I don't want to play anything that turn.

Cards that saw little play were Assassinate and BGH. I didn't kill a single 7+ attack creature with the BGH and only used Assassinate in one or two matches. Very interesting that these two hard removals mattered very little in my match-ups (Sap, however, did come in very handy).

I didn't get any weapons, poisons, or AoE abilities in this deck, but that had very little effect on my match-ups. This really proved to me that you can get a decent run without any of those cards.

Ultimately what I learned is to keep at it and not give up. I learned from the mistakes of my first three Arena runs and managed to draft a deck with a really good Mana curve and cards that synergized well with each other. I think the Mana curve was crucial to getting an above average run.

posted a message on Yesterday's Amaz Stream

Did anyone here watch Amaz's stream yesterday? He was one game away from getting his Priest to Legend and then lost 6 games in a row and fell to rank 2. Now, I'm not giving him a hard time. Even top players have bad days and this was definitely one of them. I was wondering if he just had bad luck or if it was a good example of the trouble Priest's have on the ladder. Amaz didn't seem to have any good match-ups and they were just brutal to watch (A Ramp Druid even played Ysera on turn 6 if I remember correctly. Ouch!). Any thoughts?

    Quote from klimon »

I see you have not yet combined:

    (Turn 7) Innervate + Cenarius
(Turn 8) Mark of the Wild + Faceless

    for 2x 7/10 with taunts

This I have not done yet, lol! Sounds like Cenarius might work better in a Token deck which I haven't made yet. I think I'll give him another chance and see what happens.
