I think these quest cards are awesome and opens the door for a lot of creativity with regards to deck building. I would love to use this in a resurrect/N'Zoth deck.
The only real shame is that because it is a legendary card, it's somewhat expensive to craft. So I hope I open at least one of these quests cards on day one.
It seems the community is rather divided at the moment on whether the current meta is healthy or unhealthy, stale or diverse, and fun or not-fun. If I had to put money on it, I am sure the majority of people feeling positive would be people leaning towards an aggro play style, while those on the negative end are more control based.
So? What is the situation really... According to Ben Brode and Dean Ayala from their live stream the current meta is quite diverse and they consider the state of the meta based on diversity and win rates as healthy. Except they admit that the pirate package used by Warrior, Shaman and Rogue is higher than they like, and might intervene at some point.
Now, is it fun though? For me, after playing the last two years and loving the game, I'm struggling to have fun at the moment. Some will agree, and others will disagree with me; and that's ok... I just like it better when games are about skill and strategy, instead of seeing who can kill the other person before turn six.
Patches is not the problem. It the small time buccaneer that's a 3/2 on turn 2 if you have a weapon. Just like warsong commander wasn't a problem until you have a board full of patrons...
charge is an awesome aspect of the game that should always exist. A great way to catch your opponent off guard.
I wish I could up-vote this comment twice. Patches the Pirate would be fine if it wasn't for the combo possibilities with other cards like Small-Time Buccaneer followed by Fiery War Axe or, just as bad, coining N'Zoth's First Mate. I haven't even listed Shaman options. (Rogue doesn't seem too bad.)
A one mana 3/2, draw a card and play another one mana minion with charge shouldn't exist in the game (in my opinion), unless Blizzard provided us with a proper neutral counter, which they didn't.
Consider this... my opponent plays Small-Time Buccaneer turn one and Patches the Pirate comes flying out. I counter with Doomsayer, but my opponent plays Fiery War Axe and deals with the Doomsayer easily. If I don't have AOE on the next turn, the game is basically over. (This is just a hypothetical when playing something like Reno for example.)
Playing the Jade Golem cards with other synergy cards such as Brann Bronzebeard or Shadowstep could see you get some insane value. I am really hoping all these new mechanics from the MSG expansion usher in a control meta.
This may not please the "popular" vote, but this is my favourite brawl to date. Almost no RNG except for how you draw your pieces. Even then, with 8 pawns (53% of your deck), you should almost always have a decent start. It may not be obvious to everyone, but this is a purely skill based challenge based on strategic thinking.
I really hope Blizzard creates a few more of these awesome mini games...
Reached legend (EU) for the second time tonight. Used Ramp Druid to get to rank 5. Bounced between 5 and 6 for a week. Switched to Tempo Mage and finally made it across the line; mostly thanks to all the Druids on ladder. Rank 1 had some really good (and sometimes fortunate) players. It was a challenge for sure. I am happy I made it.
Just wanted to give a shout out to the rest still making the climb. Keep going! Good Luck!

Another two days of pirates vs pirates, pirates vs Reno, or Reno vs Reno...
Am I the only one tired of watching the same old rinse and repeat match after match?

Maybe someone else said this already, but because of the overload (1), I think this should have been a 0 mana spell.

I am wondering if Blizzard will change their minds from last year and give us a surprise Black Friday special on Hearthstone packs this year?
Any thoughts?

Most fun I've had with a Tavern Brawl yet... just saying.

I like to play with all 9 classes. (All of them are golden.)
It keeps the game interesting.

To give my two cents; I think most players will tell you:
Hope that helps...
