posted a message on How do you start playing in Wild?

Well the question is, do you wanna climb the wild ladder, or do you just want to have some fun? In the lower ranks like above rank 10(which is now bronze silver and gold I guess? ) you will see some people playing the mentioned degenerate tier1 decks like burn mage or mech paladin, but also a lot of people playing whacky homebrew decks.

If you just wanna get a feel for wild and don't care too much about winning, grab any standard deck and just start playing. You will see a variety of decks and will quickly learn if wild is for you. You can then start going for specific decks by crafting certain cards or buying wild packs from certain sets.

If you wanna have a high winrate and reach legend, look for secret burn mage or mech paladin lists online, these should be the cheapest tier1 decks, switch off your brain and spam that shit until you reach legend. If you just keep playing one of those decks you will reach legend eventually, they are very strong yet easy to pilot, so if that is your thing go nuts.

In either case just give wild a try and play a few games with some standard deck to get a feel for it, it can be overwhelming at first but it is not impossible to get into it. Good luck.

I enjoy that there is more than one archetype of priest now, the new stealing cards are very interesting in my opinion, too. So many people complaining about the games being too long... I actually enjoy games that are not just decided by who can do more face damage within the first five turns. Some people like games that take more than five minutes where you have to think several turns ahead and try to create as much value as possible.

You play an aggressive deck and hate playing against priest(or any kind of control deck) because you lose after 15 minutes+?  You clearly doing something wrong, if you can't tell the game is over when your aggrodeck hasn't beaten the other deck by turn 10 and you keep playing, that is your own fault. I played against a face hunter yesterday who only conceded after he played the very last card in his deck. I was at 20+ health the whole game and had have control over the board since turn 5. But it sure was my fault the game took so long...

People who don't play aggro always say that "aggro takes no skill", just cos the game plan is to kill the opponent fast doesn't mean that you don't need to think few turns ahead.

Simply put: Aggro = proactive plays to kill the opponent quickly, Control = reactive plays to counter your opponents plays and reach your own win condition.Midrange and some combo decks are harder to pilot than aggro and control decks. Control decks often have as easy games as aggro games and the fact that the game took 5-10 more turns to complete don't make it reguire more skill, even in control vs control match ups. Sure sometimes you can have "epic" long games where you outplay your opponent, but you can have epic fast games with aggro decks where you outplay your opponent or know when to trade or drag the game out few more turns so that you get the win.

Midrange decks in MTG for example can be the hardest to pilot since you need to understand at all times wheter you are the aggressor or you try to control the game and a single miss play can lose the game

Where did I say anything about skill? Why is it that every thread in this forums turnes into "aGgrO iS fOrr dUmBdUMbs - nO cOnTroL iS FoR dUMbDumBs"? I was talking about what I enjoy since a lot of people are saying that Nobody enjoys long matches, which is just not true. You go ahead and play you aggro or midrange and enjoy those games, good for you as long as you have fun. Btw I play everything, aggro, midrange, control, combo, mill, I just tend to enjoy games more where I get to play more than five cards. No matter if I win or lose.

If you mean the last part where I mentioned the face - hunter refusing to give up, that is certainly a dumb move from his part, but I didn't say that all people playing that deck are idiots. Just this one was for sure. Many know when to concede though.

So funny reading all these theories on unfair match making, this must mean that there are a bunch of people out there who blizzard decided to only let them play their most favorable match ups, man they must be lucky as hell! Or maybe all the hard counters that play against you are blizzard employees, out there to get you?

I think the reason it is played a lot is its simplicity in the gameplay, although stats show it is losing popularity, so you probably just hit a little druid-bubble.

I do have to agree that the times they have embiggen, bod and the sidequest or at least two of those three with three first 5-6 cards is annoyingly often. Time to get out those tinfoil-hats and make up some blizz-activision-loves-druid-conspiracy-theories, who wants to start?

    Quote from Roadie >>

I remember back when you sort of had to think about plays, only had to "play around" a few copies of broken/powerful cards.  Or when matchups werent so polarizing where even your "worst" ones were still worth playing out.  What happened?  How or why did this game turn into a slot machine?  Why do we have to face decks that literally end up with like 50 or 60 cards?  Or, decks that end up with like 4-5 copies of super strong cards that you really shouldnt get to have more than TWO of.  How is this good for the game?  Theres a reason why powerful cards have deck limits and stuff.  Right?

Yeah, yeah, no one liked pure curvestone either  but did it have to go this far?  Cant we balance it a little better between *some* randomness and "crazy" plays and good old class-only identities/cards?  A lot of games you can instantly concede because your chances of winning are somewhere around 0%.  And how can you plan out or deal with things that shouldnt even happen?  I dont get the attraction to this 100% randomized casino we have now.  No skill, no nothing.  Just chuck them dice out there....ya know???? :(

So if it is 100% randomness then how can you have 0% match ups? Do you have a problem with too much rng or with overpowered deck(s)?

posted a message on Face Hunter - What’s the counter?

Galawarrior with the enrage mechanics and armorsmiths do the trick for me. Since they are usually stupid af and just go face I had it several times that they ignored my armorsmith, I got to play out multiple minions and then damage them or trade them into their stupid snakes, on occasion copying a damaged armorsmith to gain upwards of 20 armor. Sometimes they concede right away, sometimes they rage quit a couple of turns later when their hands is empty, my armor intact and my board about to kill them. Either way it makes me happy.

    Quote from Sliwu >>

i was totally crushing a mage with my res priest deck this morning, he had no cards left and sent the yogg saron box…. damn it he got a 10/10 card, he sent zephrys and got a duplicate card and so with his two 10/10 cards he totally roled on me ^^' a F**ing mage bro !!!

please guys, i know you think the res priest is like a cancer, but if you stay in the game and know your deck you can totally win.

All the game long i was saying to myself "damn, the guy doesn't give up, all he sends is worthless and i'm gonna crush him soooo hard but he still goes on" and he was soooooo right to keep it up because he won.

If you don't win against res priest it could be because of bad luck with the mulligan or the draw, but seriously you can often win against it and with many decks and classes, and you don't always need a transformation card.

keep confident in your deck that's all.

Ah I see, all you need is to stay confident in your deck, play out the entire deck and then luck out on the last rng-card you have to win. Ez.

    Quote from SCKPOS >>

It's not that quest priest is beating me and I'm hard stuck it's just that ladder is so boring since every game is 20 minutes+ passing from turn 1-20 waiting to either 1 shot them or run them out of resources completely. I want to play against some aggro deck so the game lasts 5 minutes. Also just gonna say that Galakrond rogue is NUTS, especially highlander.

Lol yeah because there are not enough aggro decks on the standard ladder right now. Don't get me wrong, playing against priest is boring af, but it is basically the only control deck out there, everything else is either aggro or tempo decks, so there should be plenty of 5 minute-matches...

I think it really depends on what you want from wild. If you want to play competitively and reach like rank 5 or legend each month, then you should craft something like secret mage, pirate warrior or any other hyper aggressive deck. Since you mentioned missing the death knights though, i recommend staying above rank 10 and just experiment. You will see a lot more different decks here, and almost anything is kinda viable.

You can just keep playing with the three decks you have so far and get inspired by what other people are playing. Like I said in this bracket almost any decently constructed deck is somewhat viable and the variety makes it a lot of fun imo. As soon as you pass rank 10 it gets more try-hardy, a lot less variety and a lot less fun imo.

I understand what you're saying, but there is no point in trying to stay above rank 10. Losing for 10 games straight just to stay above rank 10 is not the way. And who knows, I've already beaten Big Priest with my demon deck.

No worries, make your own experiences, but if you think big priest is bad you haven't faced the true horrors of the wild ladder yet :D that being said demonlock/renodemonlock are very cool decks, the renolock-core is my favorite actually since there are so many directions you can go with it. Anyway I hope you have fun and success in wild ;)
