posted a message on Group therapy! Need to blow off steam? Mega salty? Here is the place!

Been playing HS for about 2 months now. Spent most of my time just collecting as many cards as I could, playing with the basic decks and trying to learn the game. I decide it's time to make a deck with my excess dust so I make a budget mid-range hunter. Play a bunch of games with that and have obviously pushed my MMR up in doing so. This evening I have a quest to get 5 wins with priest/paladin. So, I throw together a Paladin deck and jump into casual. Half an hour of getting whooped by actual decks later I think maybe the deck I have made is just bad. Find some example decks and create something similar from my collection and that fares even worse. Another half an hour getting flogged with 2 random insta-concedes thrown in. Decide to try the level 10 deck since I know I used to be able to get at least some wins with that. It seems to fare slightly better and actually beats an evolve shaman (I think he just got bad draws), then a random concede, then I seem to run into a squad of aggro druids and take loss after loss for another solid half an hour. At this point i have lost what must be at least 20-30 games in less than 2 hours and the game is still matching me with people who have Golden Hero emotes. I understand why MMR doesn't drop as fast as it climbs but this is ridiculous. Changed decks again and tried a couple of games in ranked but at this time of the month level 20 ranked is a lions den. So back to casual and another 15 minutes of getting repeatedly bodied by the same 2-3 meta decks and after I get a reasonably good start to a game my opponent concedes. So that was 2 hours of frustration in a game I have otherwise really enjoyed so far. For the record I know one way to get around this would be to let my objectives build up and roll them every day until I have only hunter quests and I will be doing that in future. But I feel this is something that would be very easily fixed by Blizzard and them saying MMR works the way it does to avoid smurfing would be a lot easier to accept if the game wasn't filled to the rafters with smurfs regardless. For the record I'm still loving HS but for someone who is thinking about making their first major investment into the game things like this are really off-putting. Anyway, rant over. Proceed to tell me to git gud etc etc...

posted a message on (2017) How to get 3 free packs + Galaxy cardback

Had a couple of minor hiccups getting this to work so I figured I would run through the fixes here in case anyone else has the same issues.

Issue 1. "Samsung SM-G9200" is not an option in the property settings any more (I'm assuming it's been updated since this post was made). Selecting SMG925F worked for me but selecting S6 Edge does not for some reason.

Issue 2. Log in to Hearthstone and it keeps making you do the tutorial for some reason. Took me a few minutes to work out what was going on here. I play on EU and when playing HS through this emulator it defaults to the US servers so everything was missing. Go to settings, then switch account, then change region to whatever your account is on. The select region drop down menu was super buggy for me, I was clicking on EU but nothing changed. Eventually I worked out if I clicked on the menu and dragged down slowly the EU option would highlight eventually and I was able to change it and claim my reward (I would imagine this was some interference caused by using a mouse to emulate touch input)

Many thanks for the info on how to claim my free packs.

posted a message on Need some advice on Jade Druid

I could have worded that bit better, those other decks got me from 25 to 20 in one play session with maybe 2-3 total losses on the way, this deck has performed considerably worse than that and getting just to rank 20 feels like a slog. But the difference is those other decks were complete and not missing any peices, from what I can see the main thing for me to focus on is getting that second UI (there are already 2 spreading plague in the deck). Coming from decks where you often rarely play the big mana cards I didn't see how much importance there could be in a 10 mana card, but I guess a lot of those situations where I feel like I have nothing to do with the excess mana I have built up would be negated by having another big mana cost card in the deck to use.

Many thanks for the advice everyone!

posted a message on Need some advice on Jade Druid

Hello one and all. I have been playing Hearthstone for about a month now and in that time I have mainly played 3 decks, midrange hunter, evolve shaman and jade druid (all budget versions). With the hunter and the shaman I seemed to understand the deck and the mechanics at play very quickly and start getting wins straight away. But with druid I seem to either completely dominate (through what feels like dumb luck) or get completely bodied and it feels like I am never drawing the cards when I need them. I get the concept of ramping up the mana and making late game plays earlier than your opponent and I understand the importance of the jade idols but it just feels like I'm playing it "wrong". For comparison my evolve shaman and midrange hunter shot from rank 25 to 20 and beyond in no time, but with Jade druid it is taking forever. I am aware I may just be making poor decisions and maybe this type of deck requires more skill/knowledge to play but I figured it was worth asking for some advice. With regards to the deck it is a budget jade druid I found on Hearthpwn with one swap, couldn't afford the second spreading plague just yet so there is a bog creeper taking it's place for the moment. In particular any advice on how to mulligan this deck and any changes you would suggest would be much appreciated. Have included an image of the decklist for reference.

posted a message on F2P Cutting Classes - Faster Collection Building - Opinions?

I have been playing for about a month and experienced similar issues. I now have my main account where i build a collection and 3 seperate accounts where I have built simple/budget decks out of the influx on money/dust you get at the start of the game. First side account got rexxar so I built a cheap midrange hunter, second account got malfurion so I built a budget jade druid on the third I got Thrall so I made a budget evolve shaman (so much fun to play coming from the crappy decks new f2p players are working with). Now I log on to my main every day to keep the building the collection and switch over to the others to have some fun playing different decks. I suggest making your new account, do the 6 tutorial missions, beat the other 8 heroes in easy mode solo play and then beat the prologue of the frozen throne (takes 15 - 20 mins depending on luck) and see what legendary you get. If it's one that interest you get as much free early game gold/dust as you can and build a budget deck.

    Region: eu.
Usual Play Times: gmt afternoon / evening
Level of Experience: Been playing for nearly a month now, mostly building a collection and trying to learn as much as possible.
    Preferred Heroes: Mage, shaman, warrior.
I’m Looking For: Practise partner and maybe some people willing to share some wisedom.
Tell us something about you: Decided to try Hearthstone on a whim about a month ago and have played at least an hour or 2 (or 6) every day since then. I have a main account that I am building a collection on and I have also made 3 side accounts that I have built budget decks in to give me some variety in my gameplay and the opportunity to play some well designed decks while my collection is still growing. I have currently got a daily to watch a friend win a round so if anyone wants to throw a friend request my way and let me sit in on a few matches it would be much appreciated.

Ah, my mistake. I had a feeling there had to be some reason for it. I guess since I tend to play a weapon fairly early southsea deckhand would work and would possibly offer more value. If you get it in your hand it's a 2/1 that summons patches and if you get him a little later it might be a 2/1 with charge.

Have also had some success swapping out 2 things from below with 2 bonemare so if the big evolves don't hit you still have a way to push through and make some plays. The synergy isn't as good but bonemare is just so strong right now.

Are there any other death knight hero cards you would suggest making a deck around?

Hello Miambo. I had no intention to ever play shaman but I randomly got a Thrall so I decided I might as well try and build something around it so I gave this a go. It's a great deck and a lot of fun to play. Have had some crazy turn 5 wins against very expensive decks which is always a lot of fun. Just had a quick question about the possible pirate replacements. Why do you suggest taking 2 bloodsail corsair over say 2 n'zoths first mate? In the games I have played recently weapons are rarely a big threat and it seems to me that having a spare weapon would be more beneficial than the possibility of removing 1 durability from a weapon that may not be there? Or is there some synergy/strat with the bloodsail I'm missing?

    Many thanks.

posted a message on When do new players unlock the single player adventures?

    Hi everyone,

I have tried searching for this information online but most searches related to unlocking the adventures lead to info about how to unlock wings etc once you already have access to them. What I need to know is, what does a brand new player do to get access to the kotf and karazhan prologues? Obviously you have to do the 6 tutorial missions but what after that unlocks the adventures? Is it just unlocking all 9 heroes or do you have to do all the starting missions it gives you (eg play 5 practise games).

    Many thanks,

    GrimmFandingo

I really struggled with this one. After 6 failed attempts I switched to a different deck (http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/909487-nocost-solver-putricide) and got it first time. Maybe I just got super unlucky or maybe I was just playing it wrong but that other deck seemed more consistent for me.

Couple of attempts to get my head around it then victory. Get those 0/10's off the board before you are forced to bite them and it's easy street.
