LMAO so after i got sick of standard last night only for my first wild game to be against a Big Priest, I went back to the wild queue just now only to face off against a secret mage. Ladder just sucks unless you play the most OP decks. We just got a new expansion and nobody wants to experiment. Boring, boring nerdlets everywhere.
Here we gooooo. A week or so into the new expansion, and now people can only play the same decks they've seen their streamers play. I'm pretty sure that change they made to ranking/MMR a while ago where you could play people outside your rank based on your hidden MMR means that even in silver and bronze, you keep facing decks of various tiers and never get to do the old jank v jank matchups that used to be so darn fun.
Even in low legend - the domain of players who have attained the highest nominal rank and should have no expectation of finishing top 1000, let alone top 100 - everybody is playing fucking lunacy mage. Why not just play a different game if you're so bored of hearthstone that the only enjoyment you get is playing "random" (lol) spells? It's ridiculous.
Standard is unplayable, so I queue up wild for the first time in a month. First game is against Big Priest! At Bronze 10! Like, I know you just started on wild ladder too, so probably here for the same reason I am, and that's the deck you bring to the wild ladder??
It's particularly galling now, since the deck is 30-40% of the field, but the most broken deck in the format is always the most popular. I don't know why people enjoy playing dumb, broken decks, but they do. Oh well.
Just stop playing standard until the nerfs hit. They're apparently going to be announced early next week.
Just have it transform into random spells (they keep their cost). Keeps the meme dream alive while making it too inconsistent to be a Kelesth-like ladder strategy.
Small sample size, but I'm 4-1 in 2000 legend with the aggressive list in my signature. Have only run into one mage and zero paladins, so it's probably warped, but feels like it's only a couple of decent tempo/draw options away from being decent. Key is to utilize 1/2/3 cost minions that are good (or good enough, in the case of Mankrik and Frazzled Freshman) off Rally. Dragonmaw Overseer can create some really difficult boards to handle.
Fooling around with an aggro rally priest list in legend. Queue into a Control Warlock. Gonna be tough!
Ends up being a relatively close game and I get him to 9 health before Malicia ruins my day. He adds me after and I think "he probably wants to laugh about how hopeless priest is."
Nope!
Just wants to say "Nice piece of shit" and unfriend me before I can even respond. So I'll respond here.
Thanks for the laugh, buddy! Good luck out there on the digital card game you're playing.
Paladin is beyond everything else in the game right now. They need multiple nerfs to multiple cards.
Watchposts have made for the most annoying awful gameplay experience I've ever encountered. Playing since beta. I'm not saying they're the most OP thing I've ever seen. But hands down the most ANNOYING thing I've ever seen. Just a terrible idea. Devs never shouldve made these cards.
Deck of Lunacy. Nuff said.
Pen Flinger...come on...
I'm not having any fun whatsover playing on Ladder since the expansion dropped. Sometimes wonder why I keep having hope that the Devs will put out a good product again, but I think their brains are too small. Some people aren't meant for the jobs they have in life.
The watchposts are fine. They're "annoying," but they're available to all classes, they encourage thinking / counterplay, and they're a flavorful part of the expansion. If they nerf the watchposts because people refuse to adopt new strategies, that's a real shame. And considering watch posts aren't even dominating the meta, I'm not sure why they would be nerfed.
It's honestly like Mage is playing a tavern brawl whenever this comes out. They could put it to 5 mana and it would still be broken, but at least we wouldn't have to deal with turn 4 sprint into skull of guldan, like in this game:
Netdecking Libram Pally player gets Blackjack Stunner off first day of school, why not? Why make the boring jackass trade when he can just Sap my taunt, thanks to the secrets he played for free off the busted new weapon?
I don't know what's been more tilting this past week - Paladins creating massive stats on the board by turn 5 that you can't do anything about because of all the free secrets they cast, or Spell Mages beating you with 4 mana Expendable Performers into 7 mana Survival of the Fittest. Hope the devs make some adjustments, because it's boring as fuck to run into these two decks 50% of the time you queue onto ladder.
Went 4-1 with a Murloc Shaman this am, but yeah, the aggro, board based archetype is super susceptible to the watch posts that were just printed. Good development for the meta, bad development for murloc shaman.
Have you tried a midrange shaman deck, that utilizes all of the good legendaries / value generators? Even HL shaman was a T2/T3 deck last expansion. Hell, even Evolve Shaman was in a decent place once Nitroboost Poison got nerfed. The class doesn't do anything broken, but it has playable decks.

Was bugged at the end of last season. Got legend today, still bugged.

Weapon to 3 mana. Libram of Hope / Pen Flinger can only target minions. Those are the changes I would like to see.

The Deck of Lunacy tech we need.

Playing a meme hunter deck against Deck of Lunacy Mage.
Turn 2: Deck of Lunacy (obviously)
Turn 3: Incanter's Flow (of course)
Turn 4: 2 mana Sprint into 2 mana Skull of Guldan (should have just conceded then)

Just absolute bullshit and it's ruining ladder.
