posted a message on Huge Balance Pass for Constructed - Changes to AoE, Reno & Zarimi and OTK Style Decks

I think the only way this patch can be considered a success is if they nerf all of the cards I hate and buff the ones I love.  Anything else is cowardice.

posted a message on Unauthorized Bot-Ban Update – April 2024 & Arena Queue Change for Exploitive Accounts

I can't remember the last time I played an Arena game, as I don't enjoy the mode.  I use my Arena keys to create a deck and then retire before playing a game.

    Thanks, Blizzard!

posted a message on Update on Weekly Quests - Quests Will be Easier to Complete

Feel free to preface every sentence in this post with "I think..." :)

Whilst I don't think you're entirely wrong, I think the issue is a bit more than "Reward X costs more than it used to".

If the people -here- are feeling disenfranchised, think about those players for whom the gold rewards are essential for building a collection.  They're not being petty or entitled, they're now going to find it -much- harder to play competitively.  So why bother?  Why not play Slay the Spire instead?

We used to have a good relationship with Blizzard.  Sure, they'd make mistakes but there was always the feeling that they -were- mistakes and that Blizzard wanted us to enjoy the game.  We grew used to that symbiotic relationship, especially as (to us) it seemed to be working.  The release an expansion, we buy it, gripe about balance, they tweak the balance, they release a new expansion ... and round and round we go.

It just feels like things have got less sympathetic very, very quickly.  It's as if a new boss has come in and started turning the screw on us (endless overpriced content in the store, shuttering of Duels, inconsistency of Twist, reduction of rewards) and we're looking around, going "Huh?  Where did the nice people go?  I don't understand."

In my opinion, the rate of change has been too quick and too consistently antagonistic to the players.

    100% this

I want to play the way -I- want to play, not the way you want me to.

Look at the tone of people's responses.

There was a time when our relationship with Blizzard felt mutually beneficial, like we were all part of one team, trying to make Hearthstone better.

But now we have New Overlords and things are different.  Their seeming disdain for us has caused us to mistrust and resent them.

People always bang on about "The end of the game".  We're not there yet but this is how it starts.  I've seen it many times before and I'm sure I'm not alone. I wish I could believe that the powers that be would have a change of heart and that things could get back to what they were before but my experience suggests this is nit going to be the case.

I suppose it's because what I consider to be a "good" system is one that's skewed in favour of the customer.

    >> insert rant on the problems with capitalism here <<

If we are going to keep loving this game, I fear we're going to have to lower our expectations.  There's no going back.

posted a message on Hearthstone Quest Update - Big Increase in Requirements and Lower Increase in Rewards

It's like Blizzard is trying to break up with us but doesn't have the courage to come out and say it.  Instead it treats us worse and worse, hoping that we'll be the ones to end the relationship.  Sort of like the time that my ex, Emma, locked me out of the house.

It wasn't that long ago that I held Blizzard up as an example of a good software house that deserved my money. It's no exaggeration to say that those days are over.  I'm feeling unvalued as a customer and I feel no good will towards the company.

I'm not given to hyperbole but I am starting to wonder how much more of this I'm willing to put up with.

If it wasn't against the rules to sell your Blizzard account, I'd be considering cashing it all in.

posted a message on Puzzlemaster Khadgar - Strange Mage Spell choices

Add in a layer where Khadgar says "What would you like me to do?"

    Options could be:

    1. Target my opponent
    2. Target me
    3. Target my opponent's minions
    4. Target my minions

That way it's still random-ish, but closer to Discover functionality, which'd make it more useful.
