After 50 games this is at rank 3 and I'll probably put in the time to get Legend. I didn't include the information in the write-up because the season reset and the new expansion have made all ranks very much the same for a few weeks.
Sometimes it's just a free spell for Antonidas, but even that's pretty decent. As for Rogue, Eviscerate or Mimic Pod are generally the best things to get, with Shadowstep being the worst in most situations.
And it's crazy how many Rogues will donate a 5/5 to Mirror Entity instead of playing the tiny minion first and THEN buffing with Crystal Core.
This is a proactive deck, and as such, it's far more interested in pushing its own game than reacting to the opponent's. The only real point I can think of is that Mirror Image is pretty much worthless against Mage. Otherwise it's just "get the best Tempo Mage opening you can."
A Paladin with Molten Giant is likely running Holy Wrath for maximum meme value. Glad to hear it works! if you meet any Quest Rogues I'd love to hear how it goes, as I've had great success against it myself.
As for copying the Rogue quest reward, Crystal Core, Counterspell would be far superior as it would knock the wind out of the Rogue's sails. However, the deck already does really well against Quest Rogue, so it's a moot point. As for other quests like Mage or Warlock, that sure does sound good, but it'd be hard to get exactly what you want. I find that simply playing out Mana Bind when you have spare mana is best (after The Coin of course), rather than waiting for the "perfect" moment. A tempo deck wants to spend all its mana, of course.
Pyros would not be good in this deck. It's a value card, not a tempo card. If you're looking to build a deck around it, you should look up StrifeCro's "Grinder" and "Control" Mage lists from a few months back. Those are the kind of decks Pyros would fit in, as Mage builds tend to be lacking in good minions. Simply adapt lists like that for Elementals if that's your thing.
I remember this deck a few months back that was definitely an aggro mage deck, but it had ice blocks, frost novas and doomsayers. I suppose this is sort of similar, get minion damage early then stall for burn. I believe Trump played a lot of it?
I don't really think it's that good, it's just great vs Rogue.
It's definitely very weak to early aggression. Holding lots of 1/1s and bounce cards in your hand leaves you with almost no response to early pressure. I'm 10/2 with a tempo Mage.

Begins humming TF2 theme

Can't wait until they print some kind of octupus beast, then Build-A-Beast would have some real meme potential.

Why is that? Catching Quests is both unlikely and ineffective, or are you thinking of other quest-supporting spells?

I'm 8-1 against Quest Rogue with an aggressive Mage deck. I didn't make it as a counter but it works well. http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/789197

Looks like a minion that starts off as a 1/1, but each time you summon one the next will be +1/+1 bigger (unsilenceable).

Let's be clear about this: ACIDMAW isn't even good enough to be the sidekick.
