posted a message on What your opinion on the Dalaran Heist?

For me it feels mostly like a step in the right direction and not the final destination. The treasures certainly didn't take long to all feel familiar. I mostly only play with anomalies just to try to increase the scope. Especially unique bosses and items per chapter feels like a minimum evolution of the format. Unique game boards per chapter could also thicken the atmosphere.

I'm gonna be playing this more than the other adventures for sure, but to really be satisfied I wanna see stuff like way more cards for the bartender and maybe differing amounts of gold depending on how you did against bosses and stuff like that. And instead of "give a minion +2/+2" I'd love more interesting options like -2/-2 but powerful end of turn effects or whatever. Besides, having a deck full of creatures with various items would quickly feel very diverse.

posted a message on Half of the Wild problems would be solved if players would play more skilfully

I can't help but wonder... If you think the problem isn't with wild, but with the players, can you really say it would fix problems related to wild? Can you really say, that it would solve a problem with the format, if the problem is the players?

Anyway. There is a ranked ladder for that very reason. Couldn't you just test your hypothesis by seeing if big priest is a blockade at a particular rank? Since that would mean you have your 'skillful' pool above big priests, and an 'unskilled' pool below?

And if that is indeed the case, I can't help but ask - isn't that 'working as intended'? You climb the ranks if you prepare for the meta and get better, and you probably don't climb much if you don't care to improve.

Because - and I'll apologize preemptively for assuming your intention - it seems to me like your a priori assumption is that: if players better understood the game, they wouldn't be frustrated with Priest, they would simply tech for it. But I think that presupposes the problem with priest is its win-rate, whereas the problem with a particular deck can also be that the matches are boring or monotonous, or that it is a very polarized matchup where you know the outcome up front because one deck wins 90% of the time or so. Strong polarization, for example, is a design issue and not a skill issue per se.

PS: I don't really have a horse in this race; I think wild is great fun and find the deck variety is fantastic above rank 5.

posted a message on So, How is the new expansion for you?

I understand the design decision to make it similar to stuff we know, given that it's the 5 year anniversary and all. But I completely agree with OP, emotionally my response is really flat. I've been whaling pretty hard and always bought for 100$+ for every expansion but I think this'll be the last one for me; I've been playing more MTGA than HS since the expansion, and even though the last expansion there was in January I still feel like there's more decks I haven't tried than ones in this expansion. The legendaries just don't jog my imagination, I can't see something fun and left field come out of it.

Meanwhile in MTG I still have to try stuff with Ill-Gotten Inheritance, Biogenic Ooze, or Theater of Horrors.
and not only that I have loads of older mythics I wanna try with new cards, since even stuff like Revel in Riches got new support with things like Smothering Tithe even though it was released a year prior. Plus 100$ will get me almost a full playset in MTG after dailies, whereas it's not nearly enough in HS.

For HS to win me back they'd have to either be comfortable with more complex cards (such as Finale of Promise) or cards that jog your imagination (such as Role Reversal). As it is right now in HS I feel like everyone just looks at stuff like Waggle Pick and thinks "ah, Leeroy".

Actually thinking about it more, you might be better off boardwise if you just find time for Elekk + Clockwork Goblin turns, and then just Brann + Oracle x2 at the end. I guess that opens up the possibility of it being midrange with a finisher. This complements the tempo warrior approach with loads of whirlwind effects and card draw (battle rage/acolyte).

    Either way, good luck! :)

posted a message on Serious bomb warrior theorycraft

You probably run mostly removal in wild, you can look at the fatigue warrior decklists to get an idea of which are key if you need to.

Then lategame (after planting a few bombs with Wrenchcalibur) you probably wanna do something like Brann + Clockwork Goblin + Zola (On Brann), then next turn Brann + Iron Juggernaut or another Clockwork Goblin, and hopefully you're still alive at this point to pull the Brann + Coldlight Oracle + Coldlight Oracle.

If the opponent doesn't kill your Brann from previous turn you can just pop off the Clockwork Goblin + 2 Coldlights on the second turn.

The problems I see with something like this is that it's not an OTK in the sense that it's not 1 turn and it's not even a guaranteed kill. It should be good fun to see the bombs go off from the Coldlights, though.

I guess Medivh's bought cardback is a raven so maybe they felt it was redundant.

You can craft wild cards after Rotation because you have to own wild cards before you can craft them

this statement is completely false, stop spreading ignorance wtf is wrong with you?

It's right, it's just a little lazily written. You can only craft wild cards after you own *A* wild card. And she is then also suggesting he can wait until rotation so that the cards he owns will then become wild, which is pretty heads up considering it's in 8 days. The alternative is to buy a pack or hope the next brawl includes wild cards.

posted a message on Fun decks to play in wild?

Welcome to wild, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the variety of decks in the meta above rank 5 :)
Anyway, here's some of my favorite decks:

    Velen Dragon priest: AAEBAaCsAwoJxQTtBdMK1hGJFOTCAtPFApDTAoL3AgqhBOUEuQbyDIK1Arq7AtHBAvDPAujQAsvmAgA=
Stall and get Thaurissan to go off on 2x Mind blast, vivid Nightmare and Velen for 40 damage. If Shadow visions can be used on vivid nightmares, 1 on Thau can give you 2 - 3 on velen for 80 - 160 damage, in case of pesky armor.

    I run a pretty funky evolve+jade shaman: AAEBAaoICN4F+g6UvQLTxQLrzwLv9wKKhQPLhQML/gWyBvqqAoe8As+8AtG8Avm/AsfBArHEApvLAt/pAgA=
I mostly just like the flavor of that but it has a positive winrate in my tracker still.

There's this nutty discard lock: AAEBAfqUAwb6DuTCApTHArjQApfTAo+CAwzQBPcEzgfCCMQU2RXUswK8tgKRxwLT+ALWhgOvjQMA
It's not my list at all, but I cant remember who to give credit unfortunately. I would call it a surprisingly competitive list, could probably go to legend. Stuff like Malchezaar's imp => Tiny Knight => coin, Soularium is disgusting and has showed up for me way too often.

and this is my best attempt at using a Summoning stone so far: AAEBAbSKAwSnEI4XobcCm+gCDfcD5gXeFegVwasCtrMCzbsCm80Ch84CkdACntIC3/sCxIkDAA==
I don't know what to call it but you play it like a token druid, but then when you draw weapon + either blingtron or medivh you just pop off an early Infestation for the free win. The summoning stone is supposed to be played with roots/landscaping/marks/power of the wild.

posted a message on What has been your favourite expansion thus far?

Anyway for me it's a tossup between Naxxramas, Old Gods, and Kobolds and Catacombs. Naxx has a ridiculous rate of cards which still see play in Wild for the few it included, so I chose it based on that. Plus Loatheb is one of the only golden legendaries I crafted. Plus between Duplicate, Belchers and Deathlords I later played a fatigue mage when Echo of Medivh came out, which was a blast.

KoC was a solid all-around expansion (in terms of flavor, single player content and multiplayer meta), even if there were some power spikes. As for Old Gods, I still make Yogg decks, and unlike a lot of other people I get a good laugh out of Barnes, Y'shaarj => Y'shaarj. Even if it isn't me doing it, just because of how ridiculous it is when it works.

Edit: The more popular League of Explorers, Un'guro, and Frozen Throne are also great though.

posted a message on Disenchanting all new WILD cards
    Quote from Pullaaa >>

WILD IS CHEAPER TO PLAY DONT DO IT. standard will be suuper expensive in the long run unlike wild

I just want to emphasize this point:
It takes a while to get a wild collection going, but if you - as is the case with the OP - have a rather extensive collection, wild is cheaper to maintain because fewer cards each set impact the wild meta.

Personally I also find the wild meta much more diverse than standard and so enjoy it a lot more, but that doesn't seem to be everyone's sentiment, but I would suggest giving it a try yourself.

PS: If you do end up deciding to disenchant anyway, remember to wait with disenchanting the Hall of Fame rotations till you've gotten the dust refund.

posted a message on GOLDEN HERO.. And beyond?!

Here's the response from Donais in the reddit AMA:

One of our goals is to do a better job of creating medium to long-term goals. We've talked about doing special rewards for something beyond 500 wins, though I'm curious what players would want to achieve. If you have any specific milestones you think we should celebrate and reward in-game we'd love to hear about them. We could go the route of static achievement like 1000 wins, try to create a continuously rewarding system that doesn't have a cap like leveling in Overwatch, or do some time-based weekly or monthly progression system. We've been talking about all of these individually and will likely release at least one of them.

Because it's not only about yourself. Some of us like to contribute to everyone having a good time :)
