Uh, I think the point of FInley is that he goes in any class. If you're playing Auchenai ResidentSleeper control priest, sure. Finley sucks. Menagerie Priest is possible with emphasis on dragons, though. Tech beasts like Kodo and Dire Wolf Alpha help with tempo.
I would LOVE for priest to have some negative Enrage cards, to incentivize keeping your minions healed up! Also, it is more Purify targets.
Another: 3 mana 5/5, Enrage: -3 Attack
That's an interesting idea, actually. It goes along with the "debt to pay" thing that gets other classes ahead. Similarly with the monk card earlier, if it were a 2/5 zombie chow like minion. Personally, I'd like to see more health buffing cards for priest. a 2 or 3 drop that buffs 2 health to other minions. I think it's probably priest's more consistent class features. I wish Purify gave 2 toughness after silencing as well, since it costs 2 mana. The card is only worth 1.5 mana, and as we see with power word: shield, that card giving +2 toughness is at most worth .5 mana. Oh well.
the way a lot of people are building priest decks now, it relies so much on RNG, has hearthstone gotten to a point where you just accept playing RNG?
I agree with you a lot. Barnes is a big culprit for that as well. If you want to do a resurrect style deck well, you really only want the mechanic to hit a few cards. Barnes just clutters it up.
"meta". You people keep using that word, but I don't think it means what you think it means. Play the deck whenever you want. If you want to keep up with the metagame as rogue, just don't play anything slow and without removal. Personally, I think it's decent now, but it takes some planning and careful risk taking. In the end, if it's fun, go for it!
Sorry, boys. No Barnes. Too slow for my blood. If I had Cairne, maybe I'd stick him in the deck. The deck is pretty nuts if I open with Injured Blademaster and Resurrect, maybe followed up with some removal and the bishop. It's hit and miss. worse thing is reviving the card draw minions. I don't like the idea of Loot Hoarder because it only draws one card. If you resurrect, you basically just cantrip your resurrect card. If you somehow make it to N'Zoth, sure, I guess you hit the money. Any suggestions?
You guys need to really watch MrYagut. He is taking names with Rogue today on ladder. He doesn't care about meme decks, either. He's trying to optimise and refine. Today, the experiments continue with Arcane Giant. Apparently Rogue can play that for free most of the time.
I thought the Karazhan cards were fine. Not broken, but fine. I've been dipping back and forth between the Rogues, the Palies and the Priests. They all feel pretty shafted by this expansion. Everyone is laughing on the way to the bank. We'll have to ride this one out, though. Maybe the burgle archetype will work out, though. N'Zoth and Brann help with double-dipping on the minions that fetch the cards. Just a thought.
In other news, MrYagut's "bubble" rogue is pretty decent. He's been shredding it up on ladder with it, and taking it to tournaments. I suppose he's no mere mortal though, when it comes to piloting decks. I've been having a lot of fun with it too. It feels like "Oil", but without the oil and BF.
I applaud the effort and it has potential. Not sure how it will work on ladder at the moment but by all means give it a try. What's the win condition? Just nzoth? There are barely any death rattle minions though? Does he need to be in there? Just curious.
Troll aside, the idea is good, but it lacks win conditions. I would scrap both inner fire and Divine spirit for Sylvanas. N'Zoth without Sylvanas is unthinkable, Sylvanas is the sole reason N'Zoth actually work beside it slowish style, and is arguably the best Priest available legendary, plus at least one Excavated Evil (Shaman slaughterer, unlike Nova) and a least one bonus Deathrattle beside Sylvanas (Cairnes, ...)
I've tried something in a similar style, I used nerubian prophets to drop something really good at turn 3.
The main problem I see there is that shifting shade has very poor stats, even if it synergyses with nzoth. So, I am confident to bet that on turn 4 you will lose your board if you drop a shade.
So, the idea of my deck is to take over the board with tokens and minions, and steal your opponent's win condition with either Entomb or the Thoughtsteal support. I thought about Sylvanas as well, and I might have to try and squeeze her in a slot somewhere. I might have to cut Divine Spirit. The Inner Fire seems like a big meme, but it's actually useful for trading up and trading down. All the Thoughtsteal really helps with finding more spell triggers. Entomb steals the opponents C'Thun or Rag. Does best against warrior and mage. Does worst against zoo. I ended up putting the deck on ice right now. Maybe I'll revisit it later. I really like the idea of Violet teacher, but it might actually be its downfall as well. Thanks for the feedback, guys.
I am a big fan of Earthen Ring in Priest (wait, that's not a rogue card? Kappa ). He's very versatile. Helps you stay on the board. I might take this list for a spin, minus Yogg. Nice work!
Same. Priest has SO MANY removal cards in its basic set it's nearly impossible to keep control against a priest, yet these dorks still cry that they dont have MORE. Everyone hates priest.
But priest players don't want more control spells (maybe and AoE, true), what they cry for [?] is for a early game minion that can make them last until the late game
"SO MANY": almost nobody runs 2 copies of each SW. The AoE has it's downfalls (and we talked about them here earlier). You have to have two cards for a combo to work and it's NOT 100% that you'll clear the board (while you clear yours too). Entomb, being "broken" as it is, costs 6 mana, ALMOST always you'll use it and hero power can pass. Or just use it at turn 6 and have no mana left. So, and remember well this, Entomb takes your opponent's card while 75% of the time you don't generate board if you don't already have one (a thing that's hard in priest), and the next turn the opp can just use another big minion.
Tl;Dr: Entomb breaks sinergies like N'zoth and can take the key conditions (that can NOT be win condintions for priests like C'thun), but it DOES NOT NECESSARILY generates Tempo/Board
I agree with you fully. Someone aptly put it, "waaah don't take away my action figures!" when referring to people crying about Entomb. Besides, there have been countless times when I had to entomb a 4/-- minion because it sat for 3 turns hitting my face.
I've been lurking for a while but recently been getting more involved since Old Gods and Karazhan. Despite the community's regard toward the Priest class, I decided to try some different ideas. I brought the list to the Priest sub-forum, but haven't seen many responses. Most people when they post a list seem to have the exact same thing: really greedy late game with a bunch of board wipes and thinking, "I really hope this works!" I've been experimenting with the idea of turning some of Priest's spells into tokens, which lead to making use of the new PotF. I've been trying out the buff thing with varying degrees of success. I feel the cards are a bit underused, but as well under-supported by Blizzard. Anyway, here's the list.
Take the early board, use stolen cards to fuel the Violet Teacher and Priest of the Feast. Great value from a turn 2 Arcane Anomaly with (coin +) PW: Shield. It can go to fatigue games if you steal the right cards, but I feel that it's more proactive than control decks.

I love the idea. brann + barnes could equal a 30/30. or you could get two 1/1 Yoggs.
Lots of removal. It could work. How often have you played the deck? Stats would be nice.

Hello, Hearthpwn!

Any thoughts? Does my "take the board" playstyle idea have any merit? Ben Brode seems to think so (maybe the last part is sarcasm, but then again...)!

I'm working on the deck in my signature. Still refining.
