@TheMortonator It's late so I'm to tired to type a full review but in short:

I apperciate the feedback, but on a basic level I disagree with +3 spells for 2 mana being bad. Furthermore, I explained in my post why I think people overlook the quest by expecting too much value out of it. Yes, starting a card down is a cost. It might be the cost that keeps my varient down. But frankly, without quest elemental mage is just bad period. I don't think all these pushes for minion based Mage can possibly fix just not having the minions to make the deck work. Elemental mage lacks real late game and doesn't have the teeth of decks like secret mage.

Basically, in my opinion if you want to run mage without quest don't run elementals. If your goal is to win through Frost Lich alone then that tactic is better supported by making a legit control deck. Having a super cheap trigger for quest is the only "unfair" things elementals do. Arguably neutral non-elemental minions outclass elementals in the elemental deck.
...also don't underestimate 2/1 draw a random mage card when you have Frost Lich. The target is just nice. Possibly nice enough an ideal deck has Loot Hoader in it.
Lesser Ruby Spellstone is a card that requires alot of setup to be a 2 mana Cabalist's Tome. Namely you need to draw the spellstone and then actually play 4 elementals while holding on to it to upgrade it. Even then after upgrading random spells just really aren't the best pay off for how much set up you need to do for it. Then the issue of the spellstone being useless against aggro comes up since you won't be able to upgrade it before dying and the fact that random spells don't help against aggro. I would just compare it to Primordial Glyph which although maybe not generating as much value in a slower game does 2 very important things. 1. It gives flexibility for when we need a spell to deal with aggro or if we need an answer to some big threat (we have some control over what we get) and 2. It can be played early on with no downside and requires zero setup to be useful.
You also have to remember that a rotation is happening with witchwood is going to bring down the power level by a good amount. Elemental mage is actually losing no key cards meaning it has a chance to make it as a deck. Elementals although not doing super unfair things like jade (which is rotating). However because of Frost Lich Jaina the deck actually will have some of the strongest late game a deck can have because possibly infinite water elementals and the insane amount of healing you get with jaina and all the minions in your deck you probably won't be dying until fatigue vs other control decks. I think building around the quest is also a poor choice because of how much you need to invest into it to get it done and then for what? The mage equivalent of Bloodlust? And if you go the otk way why even include elementals at all then? I think curving elementals and getting an advantage while then using the raw power of Jaina is unfair enough to be good in witchwood.
I can't comment on whether or not control mage is just better than elemental mage but because blizzard seems to be pushing a minion based mage and elementals seems like a solid way to build towards that. Archmage Arugal and Book of Specters both have high potential in an elemental deck as you can chain elemental off them very consistently (you have more elemental in hand so you can keep playing them every turn in order to set up for the next elemental).  And the last thing is Shimmering Tempest which is just bad. It hasn't seen any play throughout standard play even way back when only ungoro was out and the quest was being run more often. Simply put the card offers a bad body and a lackluster effect (a random mage spell isn't enough to justify it) and if you're looking for a minion worth using with Frost Lich Jaina then Voodoo Doll is probably the best choice or as you said Loot Hoarder is also just better.

So looking at Arcane Keysmith we have a total of 7 secrets which are:

Counterspell, Explosive Runes, Frozen Clone, Ice Barrier, Mana Bind, Mirror Entity, Spellbender, and Vaporize

Now because we can discover the secret we should in theory be able to get a good secret almost every time. However because the secrets vary wildly in purpose and uses we may not always get what we need for the current situation. Overall it's definitely not bad in the right deck. However elemental mage probably is not the deck for it. We already have a good amount of 4 drops to choose from and this might not synergize enough to warrant a spot in this deck. Although it does offer us some possible tempo I'm not sold on elemental mage running it but I think that it is something to look into.

You guys kidding right? The kind of versatility that Arcane Keysmith brings is exactly what minion-based mage decks needed. Here's my take at a non-spiteful elemental mage:

    TWW Control Elemental Mage
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (23) Ability (6) Playable Hero (1)
    Loading Collection

Not entirely sure if taking out Tol'vir Stoneshaper was the best choice though, but AK can be good against aggro too, will see.

I'm curious as to why you have 2  Pyroblast in the deck. That deck doesn't seem to have enough tempo in order to justify running a finisher like Pyro in it. I'm also not sold on Mountain Giant as currently the issue I'm seeing is a lack of defensive options in the deck. That deck has Doomsayer and Tar Creeper as its early game which isn't alot. I think Primordial Glyph would replace Pyroblast nicely since it can be used early on while still sometimes offering that burn you need in the late game. I also have a personal distaste for Servant of Kalimos which you can see in my previous comments of this thread. Otherwise it seems like a somewhat solid deck.

Interesting includes here, abomination for early control with dude paladin. Shimmering tempest for spells. Baron Geddon seems like an auto include. We

Abomination is to expensive to really be called early control against vs dude pally and really Doomsayer is just better if you're looking for early game control. I also think Spiteful Summoner isn't that good if you're running Book of Specters as low rolling with spiteful is really bad for you. I think you should either toss book and try to find minions that draw or toss sptieful and include some different more flexible spells like Primordial Glyph.

This is my take on elemental mage:

    [WW] Maly Elemental Mage
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (23) Ability (6) Playable Hero (1)
    Loading Collection

So the main idea is that I have 2 win conditions: Frost Lich Jaina and Malygos. The DK is obvious, Maly is another story. We want to play 2x Steam Surgers then a Leyline Manipulator so we have a 14 damage burst with Malygos. With the help of the spellstone, glyph, Servant of Kalimos, Arugal, Zola and Arfus, there is a good chance for an actual OTK.

This is still a WIP theorycraft, but I play something similar on ladder and I can safely say that its favored against cubelock and other control decks. The only issue is aggro, but there are some non-spell based tech cards that could be included like Mind Control Tech. Also if we really need a polymorph effect without using the spell, Tinkmaster Overspark is an option.

To start I think testing a deck on ladder right now is not going to show how good the deck is since we have a rotation happening so the meta game is going to change massively with witchwood (plus you also can't use the new cards which is important)
However I think its a cool direction you've taken the deck in but I think cards like Lesser Ruby Spellstone, Shimmering Tempest and Arfus are bad inclusions to the deck since they offer random spells that might not even work with malygos or they might just be useless in general. Then the issue of Malygos only being able to burst 14 after jumping through several hoops makes it seem not that good (and random cards that deal damage and happen to be cheap enough to use aren't considered because trying to rng your way to a win won't work alot of the time).
I would probably just run Pyroblast as it is 4 damage less but very consistent and requires next to no set up outside of having 10 mana. If you do that consider making the deck more tempo oriented with maybe something like Aluneth and a secret package and turn it into a tempo elemental deck. Also you should probably run Doomsayer and Plated Beetle to help vs aggro so you don't die. Again its a cool idea but I think its quite a stretch to really make work but you have fun trying it out when witchwood drops!

I like what you are saying and the justification for your decisions.

I do have a couple of questions though, how do you intend to grind out your opponent when you are giving them the early to mid-game. Surely you play catch up and then have to get lucky with Frost Lich Jaina?

I say this as Fire Fly, Pyros, and Tar Creeper are your 1-3 three slots which is alright, if you get all three in your hand but with only 5 cards to cover these slots you don't stand a good chance of curving out the beginning...

Then you don't have catch up until Muck Hunter and Meteor, the 5-6 slots.

I'm thinking that in order to have a grindy mage with this expansion, you need Baku the Mooneater...

Thinking about it more I'm going to include Doomsayer which will help us have a more consistent early game where you can then start curving elementals into the midgame. We also have Primordial Glyph and Book of Specters to play on two which both can help us have a solid turn 3 (discounted spell or drawing things like Tar Creeper). Other than that its possible that we need to include Plated Beetle in order to further help against aggro which even now is being done in mage deck to help them survive. Of course that does involve cutting some cards but I think things like Servant of Kalimos, Zola the Gorgon, and (possibly 1 or 2) Voodoo Doll could be removed in place of Doomsayer and Plated Beetle so I guess it would come down to which type of deck you would want to have a better match up against.

1º, all Lifesteal minions are bad, 2º, rush minions doesn't seem powerfull in lategame, 3º this doesn't have taunt.

    This card is Dust.

It can also draw weapons and spells btw since it says cards not minion. So things like Spirit Lash and the warlock spellstone can be pulled. Then Rush minions although not the best late game its still nice to draw another card with Countess and thinning the deck is always nice. Then even though this doesn't have taunt the body is bigger and most of the time you didn't really care about the curator's body and just wanted the effect.

This and Barnes into Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound pretty much carries the deck.

Emeriss makes this a 6/24 which honestly is something to look into. Even then Kathrena Winterwisp and Master Oakheart both like this card also. Control hunter really likes this along with alot of other classes.

    Quote from Ruegel >>

I think this card is really overrated and will never see play. Against aggro it is nearly useless, it is a bad topdeck and against slower decks its not that great either. Experienced players usually consider the best play your opponent can do and a lot of other decent moves aswell so this card doesnt add much. There will be very few moments where it happens to turn into a card you fear your opponent might have so you can play around it.

An example: It is your turn 3 against a paladin and he has 4 cards in his hands. His next turn will be turn 4 and you want to play around either blessing of kings or call to arms. What if you dont see either of them, does that mean he doesnt have them? You would do the same as now and play around whatever is more dangerous to you and completely ignore this cards effect. There will be times where you get the right card and succesfully play around it but that will happen too rarely to justify using this card. And that is just with 4 cards in his hands, what about control decks with around 8 cards? You would rarely see what you want to see.

Having this card in your hand over multiple turns is not that much better. You get to see a bit more but you dont know if you see the same card multiple times or if they have 2 copies of it in their hands. It will also be very dangerous to assume an opponent doesnt have a specific card just because you didnt see it after 3-4 turns.

Lastly, drawing this card early can be really bad since you might see a strong card in advance but you have -1 card of your deck in your hand, a card that could have dealt with the problem that a lot of players would have expected at a certain turn anyway.

The only reason why I wont dust this card is so that I dont open another copy.

    Of course.
hearthstone reveals one of the best priest card (if not the best) they never printed and you always have that guy who really needs attention obviously.
if the spy hand thing doesn’t convince you, probably using the card at the good moment should do it.

Against aggro. You’ll use it quickly as an answer.

man this card has no downside seriously
There is no way this is anywhere close to the best priest card ever printed. That goes to Drakanoid Operative. However Ruegel has some fair points in that Chameleos can be quite useless as a card. If it doesn't hit the right card then you don't learn what you might need to make an informed guess which makes the spying part of this card more often than not weak.
You do have some flexibility in what you play it as but then again its randomly a card your opponent has and generates no card value compared to something like operative and netherspite which means it can be very weak-average more often than not. Now does that mean you don't run it? I'm not sure but I would never call this meta defining simply because the variance is to high for it to be that strong that more often than not you probably would want something like Shadow Visions to get what you need when you need it.
