posted a message on Your expectations about meta after WoG expansion

Judging from all the complaints about the new cards, I get the impression that most people haven't quite grasped the new baseline power level.

It will take a lot longer than usual before there is anything like a meta. Refining these decks containing Old Gods will be a lengthy process, and it will continually impact the environment even as variations of more familiar decks continue to see use.

Well, you have secrets or cards like Loatheb to stop them... or just play arround them.

The game need combo decks in order to stabilize  between control-aggro-combo.

Not all classes have secrets, and Loatheb will not be in Standard. And as has been pointed out repeatedly, an OTK cannot be "played around."

posted a message on Bad Manners and You

If you think this is bad manners, you are wrong.

By not conceding, you are basically saying you don't mind if the opponent takes his time to finish in whatever way he sees fit. By not squelching, you are saying you don't mind his emotes.

Perhaps only one player has lethal, but both players have the power to end the game. The outcome is the same either way.

If he might have lethal and you don't know it, then all this other activity is a legitimate bluffing tactic, trying to get you to concede a game he wasn't necessarily winning. So either call his bluff and sit through it, or concede and spend your time in a better way. Seems kind of silly to me to get all bent out of shape over 75 seconds.

posted a message on New Card - Cult Apothecary

If you are saying "bad compared to Healbot," you are still confused about what's going on here.

Antique Healbot was part of GvG. Most GvG cards are overpowered. Even with his pitiful body, Healbot provides too much unconditional healing, especially in conjunction with Brann Bronzebeard.

Cult Apothecary is actually a very well-designed card. It has a much better body and punishes the opponent for overextending. I like it a lot.

Furthermore, Healbot is not being taken away from you or removed from the game or any of that nonsense. If you choose to play in Standard format, you are the one choosing to play without Healbot. If you can't live without Healbot, you are welcome to play in Wild. I'm not even being sarcastic: If you are disappointed by every new card, PLAY F-ING WILD.

This thread is quite the melting pool of ignorance.

Ahh, the Internet. Where everyone who disagrees with you is ignorant.

No, is what they said, or at least the half assed explanation they wanted to give to this thing.
If Ragnaros wanted to turn against their former masters he can just do it by throwing fire at them, no need to turn him into a joke of a light elemental.
Anyway my complain is about the fact that they had like 10 paladins, easy, to turn into Legendaries, instead they go for this unfunny made up thing.Isn't enough with things like the Boogey Monster?
Hate to burst your bubble, friend, but every single piece of lore in Hearthstone and WoW is a "made up thing."
They own the IP; they can do whatever they want with it. If you are taking the Warcraft universe this seriously, you have really, truly missed the point.

posted a message on Nerfing The Silence Mechanic?

These rumors began because someone noticed that Ironbeak Owl was conspicuously absent from the recipe decks where it would have made the most sense (Beast synergy).

Silence is an important part of the Priest, Druid and Shaman class kits. They aren't going to rework it, and they are certainly not going to remove it from the game. The only thing that might happen is an Owl nerf.

posted a message on Inconsistency in wording: Giant Sand Worm & The Boogeymonster
    Quote from jimmyfrantic >>
    Quote from tictactucroc >>

Are there really people who care about this ? Wording consistency ? As long as it does exactly what it says it's fine.

Um, not really, because it causes the confusion. For example, our favourite Knife Juggler and Leeroy Jenkins.
Logically if you play Knife Juggler and then Leeroy Jenkins, YOU SUMMON the minions for your opponent, so what SHOULD happen is that YOUR Juggler would fire, even though the minions aren't on your side of the board - but it's YOU who summons them. In reality, your Juggler just stands there doing nothing while your opponent's Juggler fires instead if it's on the board, even though the minions haven't really been summoned by your opponent.
So yeah, wording is the key in card games, because you need to know EXACTLY what is going to happen when you play the card.
EDIT: Heh, also, if you hover over Summon keyword it specifically says that it places a minion under YOUR CONTROL. So Leeroy Jenkins card text should be changed to "Put two 1/1 Whelps on your opponent's board".
Better yet, "Your opponent summons two 1/1 Whelps." This covers the interaction with Knife Juggler.

posted a message on NEW ROGUE HERO SKIN? (I'm impatient)
Anyway, back to the topic. I don't know anything about WoW lore except that it's probably the biggest single factor limiting the design space in HS. Don't really understand why skins are so popular. Cards are the same, hero looks kinda cool for a couple of weeks at best but then that's it.  Makes no difference if I'm smashing Magni or Garrosh...

I would much rather play against Magni than Garrosh. I would buy every skin if I could assign them to my opponents' heroes.

    Quote from Haussenfuss >>

Ben Brode has already addressed these cards, and others, in his interview with PCGamer -

"It doesn’t bother me to have some amount of mainstays. Especially ones that are those kinds of tools like Frostbolt and Fiery War Axe, that aren’t meta-defining . . . You play these cards in lots of different types of decks."

You know what else Ben Brode said, exactly one month and four days before the Warsong Commander nerf?
"Grim Patron isn’t being played as much today on the ladder. It’s a very hard deck to play correctly, and we can see the win rates behind the scenes. They’re good, but they’re not quite at the level of the decks we’ve seen in the past where we’ve had to do nerfs."
So clearly, everything he says is written in stone.

posted a message on New Hunter Card - Infest

So let me get this straight:

I call my sweet, loyal dogs, but before I say, "Sic 'em," I voluntarily sprinkle these parasitic disease spore things on them. Then when they meet their inevitable demise, their mangle corpses spew out a camel, an ostrich, and a (justifiably) pissed-off hen?

    This game is weird.

Also note that the design team seems to think Tentacles for Arms is a reasonable card.

How do you know?. Do you have some special device or power to read people minds?. The fact Ben Brode said something like that, doesn't necessarily mean than that is what he truly thinks.
     Hence the word "seems."
    Don't logic-troll me, child.

posted a message on (RAMBLING, WHINY POST AHEAD) Should I preorder, even with Standard/Wild coming soon?

It's as simple as this: Do you care about the cardback?

If the answer is no, you have nothing to lose by waiting. The price difference isn't going to break the bank.

If the answer is yes, go ahead and pre-order. Hearthstone isn't going to stop being fun.

Paladin is very weak without GvG.

False. Murloc Paladin, which sees professional tournament play, uses exactly one GvG card (Antique Healbot) and one Naxx card (Sludge Belcher). Both are neutral, so it's everyone's loss, not just Paladin, and neither card is irreplaceable in the deck.
