posted a message on Owl Warlock is Toxic

People run Mutanus, Savory Delight and Parley in Rogue as a way to try and counter. I've managed to eat an Owl with Mutanus so it can work. I don't think that a sure fire way to counter should exist, then everybody would do it and then the deck would disappear and do we want those kinds of decks to disappear? I think the answer is no (as much as I dislike this particular one - both to face and to play).

posted a message on Should I buy more packs or wait for deals for Xmas?

I think it's safe to say that it's always worth waiting for bundles to come out because they are better value for money. In any case, do not forget to use for this Hearthstone on mobile through the Amazon appstore. You buy Amazon coins and then when trying to buy anything in Hearthstone it costs you coins instead of money. And coins are cheaper.

posted a message on What are your pre-order pack opening results?

Out of 67 packs I got:

    Kurtrus, Demon-Render

    Balinda Stonehearth

    Lightforged Cariel

    Cera'thine Fleetrunner

    Rokara, the Valorous

Vanndar Stormpike (I chose Horde so have Drek'thar)

And 16 Epics. I'd consider that a brilliant opening, even though I am not excited for some of these. Vanndar surprised me since we will get both of Horde/Alliance Legendaries so I hope there will be a refund for him...

    Quote from irhm >>

guys do we know how Sacrificial Summoner and 10 mana Gnoll are goona interact, is t goona summon another 10 mana from your deck or nothing?

my Second question is the new 3 mana warlock spell; if it destroys Karrak (new 3/5 legendary) is it gonna summon another Karrak or its honourablly killed

     1. It will summon another 10 cost minion, I believe this was confirmed.

    2. Also confirmed, destroying a minion is not Honourable Kill so Karrak would respawn.

posted a message on Preorder? Yes or no?

I will preorder the small bundle and get the tavern pass, which is what I did last time. I use Amazon Coins so save a bit of money through that. I enjoy the game enough to want to pay, doesn't matter what anyone says.

Another avenue with this deck could be taking out Vanndar and putting in the original Tamsin Roame. You could get a lot of extra value from all the shadow spells and even the phylactery itself is a shadow spell...

I think this is the way go.

It looks alright but somehow I am not terribly excited. Other hero cards seem better, more exciting.

posted a message on New Neutral Legendary Card Revealed - Ivus, the Forest Lord

It's obvious to me only 2/2s repeat and none of the other effects. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense and would be completely unplayable. I think the way it will work is for first mana point you have 75% chance of an effect and 25% for a 2/2, if you hit the effect, the second mana point gives you 66% for another effect. We spent a total of 3 mana so far and have a very underwhelming minion with 2 effects but from there the buffs will be much more likely (50%). This way the effects should be prioritised by the nature of probability and buffs should come after that, the more mana there is to spend.

So I play this at 6 mana and might get:

    • a plain minion with 11/11 stats
    • a Divine Shield, Rush and Taunt 5/5
    • something in between this, most likely two effects 7/7

    I think that's decent.

I know I am and will be getting the small bundle, and perhaps the pass, that is usually enough for me to get almost all of the cards.

posted a message on New Shaman Legendary Card Leaked - Gla'cius Frost Elemental

The comparison to Kargal works, for better or worse, but what people seem to forget is that it was a very powerful card when you played Watch Posts, which we all were when they were good. Then they nerfed them and people stopped playing them, or enough of them, to make Kargal worthwhile. You need to have played at least 3 or 4 for that big swing later.

So let's break this down: this card will live or die by the number and viability of frost spells that Shaman will get. Realistically, you only need 4, 2 copies of 2 spells and it could work, just like with Kargal. One problem I have is how a spell deck strategy will synergize with this minion summoning effect, which you will be using at least a total of 5 cards for, maybe more. What else would the deck need to have to be viable because I don't think this is enough of a win condition on its own? Mixing it up with Elementals will mess up your curve. Quest will most likely not work unless (some of) the frost spells overload. Weapon could maybe work as you rarely need a whole deck to support this archetype but Shaman's weapons are quite expensive even though the curve could work (Doomhammer on 5, overloadeded next round so just freeze, Bear on 7). Problem here is early game. It is all hard to predict without seeing all the cards from the expansion.

posted a message on Future of Heartstone.

The game is all about big swings, even aggro. Aggro Druid? Develop a quick board and overwhelm. Quest Mage? Finish quest and kill from 30 to 0 in one turn. Handlock Warlock? Drop Flesh Giants, Barrens Scavengers etc. in one round. Carrot Rogue? Collect your pieces and kill from hand. Quest DH? Collect your pieces and kill from hand. And so on.

This style of play invalidates the other persons actions that take place prior, makes them meaningless and that is not a good feeling. There is one game you play until the big swing and after the swing you are playing a different game. This creates frustration and bad feelings because well-executed strategy should have a pay-off at the end. Instead, you race to meet your own objective while ignoring as much as possible what your opponent is doing, only doing the minimum to survive until you get your big swing first.

I am finding some enjoyment with my off-meta decks and it's not that I am opposed to playing an optimised deck, I am not, it's just that the optimised decks are not fun because they represent that style of play. Quest Warrior might be the one example of incremental play, with some potential for a biggish swing past Juggernaut drop, if you are lucky, but never resulting in a 30 to 0 burst like others. It's funny that Mr. Smite, which is a blast from the past, fits best in this older-style deck.

That is what I use, works pretty well against most things. For preference, you can substitute Altar and/or Grimoire with Tour Guide and/or Armor Vendor. All varieties produced good results for me; sometimes it's is important to have that early minion on board to pop divine shields etc.

    posted a message on Multicaster

I am running this in Fatiguelock and it works great. I've had to add Unstable Felbolt (which is a great, cheap removal spell, btw) to get the third spell school for more consistency. I've also had a look at Shaman cards and can see it working great over there, too. Quest Mage? You could replace the couple of minions it sometimes runs with this instead and probably have great success. Keep all the card draw you already have, with aggro rampant you will always want as many removal spells in your hand as possible.

I've been playing this card in my Fatiguelock deck all evening and it's nuts - really, really good control tool. One Raise Dead with this in the graveyard and you're just reloading a very cheap minion removal. It does not help against Mage but at least you can drop this and kill easily with Mortal Coil.
