5/10 total stats for 6 mana v. 4/7 for 5 mana. I don't know if we can say that's a crappier version, but it is similar and we see how good sludge belcher was. You are right that with powercreep it might not be as good as it would have been back then.

nicolasgirardi posted a message on New Hunter Legendary Card Revealed - Huntsman AltimorPosted in: NewsIt depends on what type of minions hunter is running. If you get to play Hydralodon with this on hand you already have 5 of those 8 minions. Mountain Bear is 3 minions for this.

DatMageDoe posted a message on New Mage Cards Revealed - Throne of Tides CardsPosted in: NewsHex turns a minion into a worthless Taunt. It does not need to be killed immediately, and killing it is pretty easy. That 0/1 doesn't threaten you at all, so you can Hex and kill that minion in a few turns' time if it's favorable.
Jellyfish turns a minion into a 4/1 with +2 Spell damage. That is a threat. An easy to kill one (just hero power), but you'd be a fool to leave it up. Even if they can't use the Spell Damage it can still get a good trade or push significant face damage.

sPacEtiMe19 posted a message on New Mage Cards Revealed - Throne of Tides CardsPosted in: NewsAntique healbot barely sees play anymore. Also anything works with Brann, there are much better synergy with it than just a generic 8 armor or tharussan.
Versatility matters. This isn’t just healbot. It’s healbot if you need it to be. It’s board clear if you need it to be. And/or it’s mana cheat if you need it to be.
“Anything works with brann.” What does this statement even mean? Are you trying to suggest “all battlecries are good if doubled?” Well yeah, but this doesn’t need bran to be good.

DatMageDoe posted a message on New Mage Cards Revealed - Throne of Tides CardsPosted in: NewsBecause School Teacher generates a 1-cost Nagaling, which can then be used to go off with Spitelash on 5 even if you miss a Slitherspear or keep the chain going by giving you more Nagas (plus it's an independently strong card). In comparison, Naz'Jar is a 5 mana 5/5 which doesn't really further the engine and none of the options are really amazing for the deck.

TheDarksider posted a message on Nozdormu Day April - With Special Daily Quest!Posted in: NewsNozdormu day should be an entirely new quest, like a bonus for the day. As it stands, it gives you 500 more XP than usual, not really the 1500 they advertise.

YourPersonalGuru posted a message on New Mage Rare Card Revealed - Trench SurveyorPosted in: NewsI remember OG mech mage as the easiest deck to build and play ever. It also seem like nobody misses the archetype and are more concerned that mage will neither have a good mech nor naga package to play board based.
The thing that annoys me the most about this expansion is that the tribe choices feel wrong, even thou they already existed (MurLOCK and mech mage). Let's hope that the two classes will have a fun aggro/mid range tribe based deck going, instead of all the direct damage BS. I just thought that these two classes would need the most consistent new synergies and not the least...

Nekkro2 posted a message on New Demon Hunter Common Card Revealed - Abyssal DepthsPosted in: NewsI kinda like this card. If 3 Mana draw 2 cards is the reference point, a Tutor should be a bit more expensive.
If you want to just draw 2 cards, you can play Acrobatics. But if you want to draw some key cards, like Vanndar of Zephrys this can be an interesting alternative. I don't think it's an incredible card. But it's nice to have it. I'm definitely going to try it out before judging it.

Cool card design, and a decently strong stand alone card. You don't have to play Dude Pally for this to see play, it's a simple 3 mana upgrade hero power and that's it.
If we get more synergy, the better. As it is, might not see a lot of play, but it's far from bad.

Seein mage too heavy on the skeleton synergy seems like the expansion will be a one dimensional one just like Sunken City.

Very well said, man.
People are being too harsh on this new Naga mechanic. For the AoE it'll be lackluster, but for many other effects it'll be fine.
2
It's less control oriented than Deathwing Mad Aspect, but going face will definitely be appreciated by control archetypes as a finisher.
Control Warrior has so many efficient spot removal and board swipers that this dude will probably see much more play than Deathwing (which also was pretty good nevertheless).

This and DH are the strongest Colossal minions so far, followed by Druid, Warlock and Warrior's. Mage and Priest aren't bad, but they are at the bottom.

Xhilag is a new stapple for Demon Hunter class. This dude is crazy good.
It's a minion ridiculously strong on its own, so It will work as top curve/finisher on midrange/aggro archetypes, and can even work as pseudo board control for slower archetypes (always a good finisher, no matter what you're playing). No need to build around this dude, he'll fit anywhere besides DH combo decks (maybe even some wombo combo can be built around it).
It may seem a little slow, but it'll give aggro decks much more reach, and can snowball any match in 2 turns

Doesn't help against OTK nor impact the boart the moment it lands.
It is essentially useless in our current (standard) meta, but who knows. All solitaire archetypes got nerfed and despite of the OTK still present we have some board centered strategies once again. If we ever get back to a value town meta this dude will definitely helps alongside Xyrella's hero card and stuff.

If you're playing it alongside the Quest, the hero power's mana cost doesn't matter much.
The thing I'm interested the most is wether we'll get improved traps in wild as well. This would be cool.
Good hero, DK Rexxar generated infinite value but Tavish is all about tempo summoning a companion every turn. For each their own.

Instead of reading it like "pay 5 mana do nothing on turn 5", read it like: "pay 5 mana to cheat out a demon from your hand, it has stealth".
Sure, it can't attack on turn 6, but the fact that you'll have 6 free mana to do any shenanigans with a demon on board that the opponent couldn't remove by any means on the prior turn (no board swipe, no RNG effect - well, I guess it can get Mutanus'd) can be game winning.
May be good in a combo centered meta, like the current one. Will be bad in an hyper aggressive meta, unless you can abuse it with coming back mechanics like lifesteal, etc.
