Big Priest is just too much polarizing: each match against it is boring and predictable, since some deck can easily smash it while others have a very hard time (if not an entire impossible matchup). Blizzard should fix the graveyard's mechanic in order to properly balance out not only this archetype but also make more design space for future cards that may interact with already dead minions.

SgtGoat posted a message on Custom Expansion - Vortex of Teons (135 Cards)Posted in: Fan CreationsHello Everyone!
This is Vortex of Teons, my custom Expansion. It's an Ocean-themed card collection with new card mechanics, a lot of Murlocs and big, scary underwater Beasts. There are already some custom expansions with similar theme, but i think thoose cards can still show something new. I hope you will enjoy!
Backstory:
Vashj'ir is a mysterious and magnificent place with several unexplored parts. One of them is Vortex of Teons, a large area, hidden from strangers' eyes by magic. A long time ago, a human mage, Teons discovered the vortex and its archipelago due to his magical senses, but he vowed, he will never tell to anyone, how to enter this magical world, to protect its unique wildlife from any outer danger. Nobody knows, what happened then to him, but decades later, his daughter, Izora returned to the civilzation. She told her people about the vortex, but didn't mention how to reach it. On the contrary, she warned them, that nobody should try to find the place, because under the enthralling world, there are horrible dangers. The Expansion contains:
-45 Neutral cards (22 commons, 9 rares, 9 epics, 5 legendaries, excluding tokens)
-10 Class cards for each 9 class (3 commons, 3 rares, 2 epics, 2 legendaries per class, excluding tokens)
-2 New card mechanics (Topdeck, Bottomdeck)
-7 Used Tribes (Murloc, Beast, Dragon, Elemental, Pirate, Demon,Totem)
-1 Neutral Hero card
-1 Druid Preorder Hero Portrait
New Preorder Hero Portrait:
New card mechanics:
Topdeck: When you topdeck X, put X onto the top of the deck (so next time you will draw it). Basically it concerns your deck, and it's a new card that you get, but if it's mentioned it can be your opponent's or both players', or a card that is already in the deck.Bottomdeck: Almost same as Topdeck, but as its name shows, this puts the card into the bottom of the deck (so you will draw it last). There are also cards to draw the deck's bottom.
Affecting opposite minions is already an existing thing in Hearthstone, for example in the Witchwood Monster Hunt with Darius' Cannon, but there is a very few of this effect. In Vortex of Teons, there are a lot of cards that affects the opposite (enemy) minion, but unlike at the Witchwood example, they don't trigger, if there is no exactly opposite minion.
Now let's see all the cards!
Druid:
Theme: Several Choose One and flexible effects, manipulate opponent's deck.
Tokens:Hunter:
Theme: One target removes with buffs and Poisonous, Beast synergy.
Mage:
Theme: Freeze and Elemental synergy, non-random spell and minion generating.
Tokens:Paladin:
Theme: Lifesteal and Heal combos, synergy with large boards, Murlocs.
Tokens:Priest:
Theme: Silence mechanics, supporting Board Clears and Deathrattles.
Rouge:
Theme: Echo cards, Pirate synergy, single target removes.
Tokens:Shaman:
Theme: Overload cards, Elemental and Murloc synergy.
Warlock:
Theme: Discard synergy, bottom card mechanic, Lifesteal.
Warrior:
Theme: Weapons, survive, slow, high-impact cards.
Tokens:Neutral Commons:
Tokens:Neutral Rares:
Neutral Epics:
Tokens:Neutral Legendaries:
Tokens:Notes:
-I do not own any images used for the cards
-The expansion's backstory is fan fiction, connected to the lore of Warcraft
-So this is Vortex of Teons, I hope you enjoyed, and thanks for reading!

MatthiasL3791 posted a message on Game of Thrones is disappointingPosted in: General ChatTo be fair, 95% of this is GRRM's fault. The show runners are actually big fans and followed his material faithfully, or at least as faithfully as can be expected of tv.
Martin had no idea where he was going. If AFFC didn't convince you, and ADWD still somehow didn't convince you, consider that he has basically given up finishing the books. He had no grand master plot. He even admitted he started writing the series because he had this image of a dead wolf with a stag's antler in it's throat. That's all he had when he started.
Killing Eddard Stark was genius. But the red wedding was just dumb. He kept trying to be the shocking author by killing all his best characters, and now he is left with a mangled mess of a story. Why did I suffer so much Iron Islands crap? None of those characters mattered. Danny's entire story is filled with locations and characters that are irrelevant. She could have just flown on top of her dragons to westeros three books ago and the story would be the same.
Bottom line, Game of Thrones was a fun ride with no destination. Enjoy it for what it is, and be happy the show at least has an ending of some sort. For those of us who wasted decades of our lives on his books, an ending is a lot better than the alternative.
Edit: if you want really gritty fantasy that doesn't disappoint, read Joe Abercrombie. His books actually have plots and endings, and he is a better writer than Martin.

Dunscot posted a message on This expansion needs to be deck defining and interestingPosted in: General DiscussionWhy do you want another set of ridiculous I-win-cards?
This could be the first time in years where the game might actually become "normal" again, where decks don't cost 8000 dust and more, because each class has 2-3 mandatory legendaries; where no infinite value cards or auto-win cards exist that make decks super polarizing; where you actually can try out new stuff without getting slaughtered by overtuned decks that stay on top of the meta for an entire year or until nerfed.
I honestly would not mind if the next expansion is even weaker than Rumble, so that we don't have a bunch of overpowered cards everyone rushes to get, and we instead have to work with the mostly mediocre, "fair" cards from last year as well. Boomsday and Rastakhan had more than 15-20 cards too, you know.
In the end, there will ALWAYS be some "tier 1" decks everyone and their dogs play day and night on ladder, no matter what cards come out. But maybe, for a change, the difference between a "tier 1" deck and whatever else you play isn't a 90-10 win chance, but more like a 65-35.
After all that crap from the last year and half, I am more than ready to go back to a point, where something as unremarkable as C'Thun Druid was considered good. A stagnant meta isn't one without high-variance or flashy win conditions, but one where you hear "None will survive!" and "The eternal hunt has begun!" every other game for 12 months.

user-100293335 posted a message on This game would be more fun if people didn't play so slowlyPosted in: General DiscussionWell, HS is so simple that It is very boring to play it alone, so I play It in the background and sometimes It takes some time to realize It is my turn. I think It is a pretty common case.

DoubleSummon posted a message on Baku and Genn nerf proposal.Posted in: General DiscussionGenn is fine, Baku is the problem, just change the upgraded hero powers, and while at that also buff shaman's upgraded hero power that one just isn't on par with the others it's just plain boring.
Paladin : summon a 2/2 dude
Warrior: 3 armor BTW still worth it.
Rogue: already nerfed hard with the nerf to cold blood
Mage: no need to nerf the deck has clear trade-offs

RavenSunHP posted a message on What if Barnes can't summon a Legendary minion as a Nerf?Posted in: Card Discussioni do strongly agree big priest has become too powerful in wild, but i dont know if that will really be a good nerf.
The problem is that barnes is not a problem in other classes, just in priest if you get him turn 3-4 and you loose on that turn.
Spell Hunter with Master's Call disagrees.

massakre posted a message on Main Problem with HearthstonePosted in: General DiscussionThe main problem is class/card balance. When you make the same mistake again and again you get a meta so polarized with a class being played by everyone and just some other decks/classes are playable because they're the direct counter the meta turns boring. I'm bored to play against 10 hunters in a row, the same happened with druid, priest, shaman, warrior... Blizzard must balance the classes. I'm not demanding exactly 1/9 (~11%) but a reasonable appearance ratio arround 8%-14% of every class.

I'm not sure it screws you as you would only play it if you had the insurance of a full board clear in your hand (Equality / Consecration, etc.)
It seems like a bait. The other player would have to be very careful about playing into your (probable) board clear.

I don't have a strong opinion about which packs are most valuable.
However, if you're spending money, you should spend it first on the adventures. Those cards are guaranteed. Many core Wild cards are only available through the adventures. Then, buy ten packs of each set to both get the guaranteed legendary and to get a small inventory of commons from each set.

Considering how often Warrior keeps the board clear throughout a game, this is an amazing card.

Hearthstone's most important feature is down!
2
Whenever my Reno/Kazakus/Zephrys doesn't turn gold in my hand, it's because a card or cards have been added to my deck, and I now have unexpected duplicates. That is what happened to you, even if you can't remember the circumstances. Either that, or you made a mistake with your deckbuilding.
The lamp animation is related to Zephrys's summoning, not his battlecry.

The player SHOULD have received a light punishment. Indeed, it is not the forum for political statements. I understand that other players have been lightly punished in the past for making political comments. A ban of a certain number of months with Blizzard just saying that it wants to maintain political neutrality in its events would have been okay. Taking away the guy's already-won prize and firing the commentators was way over the line, and stinks of political appeasement. Ever heard of damnatio memoriae?

What other options are there beside Chinese-made versions of those goods?

It's not just "playing cards better". A lot of the "skill" is based on your knowledge of your opponent's deck. I've recently been playing against a lot of decks I've never seen before, because I don't watch streamers or read articles. I've made a lot of plays that turned out to be bad simply because I incorrectly predicted what my opponent was capable of.
Knowledge of the gaming environment is really the biggest "skill" in Hearthstone, which can only be gained through experience.
I've noticed this when I used to play the CCG Vampire: the Eternal Struggle. In a tournament final, some players had knowledge of other players' decks through chance placement in prior games, and that gave them a huge advantage over those who hadn't seen those decks before. Preparation is at least as important as "skill".

I am having fun trying new decks with the cards I have. I am not dominating the ladder, but I'm having fun. I just made it to Rank 15 Standard with a Big Warlock deck that I cobbled together.
No, you're not going to cruise to legend with a homebrew deck. Yes, you can have fun with your experiments.

It's a legitimate question. Back during Druidstone, there was evidence that one or more lead designers personally enjoyed playing Druid, which led to the design of cards like Jade Idol. Before you cry conspiracy theory, consider that actual people are designing the game, and people are not perfectly objective robots who always remove their personal preferences from their work.
Of course that was in a Standard environment.
My opinion is that Blizzard doesn't love Big Priest, but it can't be bothered to nerf it, either. Resurrection is a Priest identity feature now, but Blizzard can't be bothered to add resurrection cards to Priest's Basic or Classic set. Therefore, they have to add new resurrection cards to new Standard sets, which in turn (inadvertently) buff Big Priest.
