That they added a budget preorder option for the first time is proof they're being conscientious about F2P players, which is progress.  It's a good thing.  That being said your post is a bit combative and seems to show a personal bias, but your point has validity so there it is.  I think generally these kind of posts intensify hostile attitudes towards F2P, a pre-emptive strike so to speak.

Fair enough, I started off somewhat aggressive when it came to my mood while writing it, and became more lax after a bit and thinking about it - though, idk if that's reflected in the post itself.  I agree, the budget pre-order is great, and it's a big step towards the right direction.  Hopefully other people realize that too.

So, people are going to complain again, I can taste it.  Even though this bundle is the same cost as a normal bundle and has a hero, something only in the mega bundle before, which even then wasn't bad.  Sure, it's a paywall.  For a cosmetic.  For a cosmetic.  For a cosmetic.

It legitimately does nothing other than give you more ego-points.

I'm not trying to harp on this, I just want people to realize they're not stealing money from you or reducing the value.  They're not, they even added a more affordable option at $20.  If you don't want to pay the $50 for the skin or can't, don't sweat it.  I certainly didn't with the Hallow! Hallow! bundle, even though I'm a collector of things.

My point is simple.  You can argue, but the way I see it, and will see it, is that this is fine and there's nothing to complain about.... in this regard.  Whether or not the expansion will be good or not is to be seen.

posted a message on HS vs MTGA, and why?

I’m hoping I’ll like HS more once the new expansion comes out, but idk.  If not I’m fine not looking back, but I’d gladly play it casually with MTGA being my more prominent card game.

I feel like Hearthstone may be fucked when it comes to being a half-decent game.  For now I think I’m going to quit until I’m proven wrong, and pretty much just work on my “Hearthstone Redesigned” thread.

I remember when I first started playing Hearthstone.  It was new, fun, and easy to pick up.  But, now, after spending hundreds on it, the game has gone to shit in my opinion.  It’s now repetitive, boring, and hard to pick up.  The opposite of what I was looking for.  So, all in all, I’m not salty, even.  Just sad that my once-favorite game has become one of my least favorites, and I have hope that one day it will reach its former glory.

posted a message on HS vs MTGA, and why?

So, I wanted to make a more organized and constructive thread than the few we've had, even though it's bound to be a colossal failure on my part, but I might as well try.  I want us to all point out our criticisms and explain our choices, explain what we think games could do better, etc, because at the end of the day, we're all trying to have fun, are we not?

So, to start.  Hearthstone, for me, is obfuscated by one thing.  Staleness.  The gameplay's just too damn repetitive for me, but I want to know what you guys think on that front.  I feel like a single, fairly small set each trimester of the year isn't enough.  It just gets so boring for me, because not enough changes.  In addition to this, the last few metas....  Have been less than optimal, to say the very least.

However, this is a double-edged sword.  MTG(A) has had bad metas too.  Anyone remember when Kaladesh was still around?  Mono red aggro was arguably my worst time with the game, much like recent Hearthstone.  So, in the end - on this front, I really just wish things were more exciting for hearthstone, and more balanced for MTG(A), which I would say Guilds of Ravnica helped with, unlike The Boomsday Project.

Now, for UI.  Hearthstone wins, by far.  The gameplay might not be the best in my opinion, but god damn does the UI look gorgeous.  I don't even thing we can compare.  MTG's is fine, just.... nowhere near as good as Hearthstone's.

And, last point I'll bring up is F2P fairness.  Well, this is the point of contention.  My issue with Hearthstone's F2P aspect is, from my point of view, abysmal unless you play a hell of a lot, and hard to have fun without a large collection.  Now, for MTG(A), I feel the opposite way.  I've only dropped $30 on it so far and already feel way better about the game than when I spent shittons of money on HS - More than I can remember.  However, that doesn't mean it doesn't have its pitfalls - I don't think we've had enough time to see yet, since, as far as I'm aware, it also takes a decent amount of time to get a meta deck in MTG(A).  So, for this one....  It's somewhere inbetween.

PLEASE, now, PLEASE don't let this thread devolve into a babyrage/salt/flamewar thread.  It's going to happen, but know this.  If we don't make it that way, it won't have to be that way.  It's a community effort ;)

This game is mostly about luck and tryharding with T1decks to get somewhere. No skill required.

said every bad player ever. :)

You're both right and both wrong.  I play off-meta decks because they're the only fun ones, for instance, and I could even reach Legend if I was dedicated enough - but I'm lazy, so :P

I fucking loved HS, but at this point....  It's miserable.  There's barely any fun left in it for me.  Chances are I won't come back, unless MTG:A shoots itself in the foot too.  Rn, they're not doing the best - but at least the game is more fun.

    Quote from Tuscarora87 >>

I'm causally playing the game for several days. It's okay. Mechanics are alright. Presentation as well.

What does turn me off is lore. Cold generic fantasy mess.

I will not spend a dime on the game, but just play casually, on low ranks / drafts, or get a competitive deck or two on the way.

I hear the economy is expensive, no friends, no spectating, not getting rid of rotated cards... a lot of issues. Devs seem too ambitious, in an inflated way.

It's 20% less dumb then HS. Generating those Lands, while interesting and deep, is quite RNG and usually steals you the win. On the other hand, HS has lore, power of simplicity and unsurpassable presentation.

"Cold generic fantasy mess" excuse me is that not the same thing as Warcraft lore?  I happen to like the lore of both but seriously, Warcraft lore is no better than MTG lore, at least based on the content, not presentation.  Based on what you said, though, the presentation of the lore isn't what matters - and, also, Hearthstone is based on WC lore - so, presentation between HS and MTG are about equal.  Even if HS lore has more backstory, it's rooted entirely in other games.

EDIT: "20% less dumb than HS" I mean.  You obviously don't know how deep the game can get.  Even Aggro requires thought, unlike the current state of Aggro in HS.  And, before you start ranting that aggro can require brains, ik.  It just doesn't in HS rn.

posted a message on Star Aligner Combo Not Counterable

Why are people still looking at Aviana & Kun as the problem here? OTK and combo decks are not a bad thing since they help keep extremely greedy and grindy control decks that have insane amounts of answers and value engines in check.

The real problem is the too efficient tutor cards, constant cycle, and insane amounts of armor. Aviana and Kun allowing combos in druid never created a top tier deck prior to things like Branching Paths or Psychmelon became a thing. Let's actually put these druid cards that are insane in power level in the spotlight since they are powerful even in non-OTK/combo druid decks.

Addressing insane class staples should always take priority to readjusting druid combo decks over nerfing fun and/or niche combo pieces.

I agree, the issue hasn’t been the combo enablers, it’s been Druid’s ramp and control tools.  I have pretty much quit Hearthstone because it’s just become boring and repetitive for me, and I don’t think these decks help.  I used to love them - when they were refreshing.  Now I only really play Mecha’thun Warlock and Aviana Kun C’Thun Druid - they’re fun, but play differently 9/10 matchups.

People, don't forget to play the Welcome Weekend Singleton event as many times as you can, it's totally free and gives you cards as rewards. :D :D :D

9/10 games I'm playing are against that 'rat colony'; not even slightly fun...

Tech against it if you can - if not, well, keep trying.  You can concede against them if you know you'll lose.

I’m a big fan of it.  My favorite part is that, even without a big collection, it’s still tons of fucking fun.
