posted a message on How often you swap Decks while climbing Ladder?

Personally, I like to ladder with two different archetypes that counter each other encase I hit a 'pocket meta' at a certain rank. Personally, I wouldn't swap unless you face a lot (5-10) of different people playing a similar deck. You using Khadgar Mage and Token druid is probably a decent lineup, if you could I would try to swap out Token Druid for some build of Rogue just because it is the deck to beat right now.

As for the whole confidence and frustration thingy, tilting is one of the worst things you can do while laddering. If you start to lose a couple of games in a row and feel like you are playing poorly, just take a step away from the game and do something else for a bit.

Another thing I would recommend is just grinding a ton on one single deck so you can understand it's weaknesses. I've been playing a ton of Mech Hunter because not only is it really good (magnetic is real silly), but it also helps me exploit the weakness of said deck when I play against it.

    Hope this helps!

posted a message on Omega Devastator ability wording inconsistent?

This sort of thing is just an interaction with Omega cards. It checks for you having 10 mana after the mana cost was paid, which uses the mana from the coin first, resulting in you only having 9 mana and thus, not have the effect go off.

I'm glad Rafaam still got the ability to shine in the tournament, along with making the final match incredibly enjoyable to watch. I understand that having the final match kind of devolve into an RNG fiesta isn't what most people like, but I'm glad it just wasn't a clean sweep by one person or the other.

posted a message on Why So Many Big Priests?
    Quote from hillandder >>

Match for match I think the new mech hunter is way harder to win than big priest, the sinergy in that deck is insane from turn 1 to 6 (the game don't reach turn 7), the deck is way cheaper than Big Priest and don't see many of them, odd paladin with MFB is pretty strong too.

The issue I have with Mech Hunter is that it's very all in. If they get a good hand but you can keep them back, they are just stuck with no hand and top decking essentially worthless mechs. While it is able to close out games a lot faster, it's also a lot weaker to board clears while on the other hand, big priest is only weak to transformation effects or things that summon stuff for the opponent. It is also a lot more established deck in wild seeing as how it's been a thing since KFT and KnC, along with sites that report on the meta such as Tempostorm calling it a tier 3 deck. I don't really agree with that but for people who are netdecking, that number is a bit offsetting.

posted a message on What was your worst(best) losing(winning) streak?

In the past, I've had some wicked win streaks from ranks 9 to 3 with Even Paladin during Boomsday and just yesterday I took a secret hunter list to do a similar thing by going from 8 to 2.

As for lost streaks, if we count decks that I knew well in advance were horrible, I dropped from wild rank 11 to rank 15 and if I could drop more, I probably would have landed back to 19~ or so because I was playing a Molten Blade OTK deck that would most often lose to itself because you had to wait for the weapon to turn into a Doomhammer. With actual decks, the number of times I've gotten to around rank 2-3 and then tilted off the face of the planet back to 5 is more than I'd like to admit.

posted a message on Why do people still insist on preserving class identity?

The biggest reason why I think people still care about class identity is that it helps make the game smoother to play. Every class has a certain innate weakness that while occasionally is broken (such as Naturalize and druid single target removal), it creates some form of natural counterplay and rewards people who know how to either exploit these weaknesses in deck building or exploit them in game.

While I do feel like people care about class identity a bit more than they should, I feel like it does have a place in the game.

    tempo rogue destroys every hunter

It doesn't feel like tempo rogue is an unbeatable match up however and looking at the winrates of the top two hunter archetypes, secret and mech, one has a 59% winrate and the other has a 53.5% winrate against rogue. Granted, I can't look at the specific winrate of it going against specifically tempo rogue so maybe most of the data has been skewed, but it does feel like it's a favorable match up nonetheless.

    Secret Hunter??

Yeah, it's currently the highest winrate hunter deck according to hsreplay. The current list I'm running is just this one but with -1 Marked Shot and +1 Unleash the Beast.

posted a message on Opinions on Hunter so far

    Hello everybody,

As the title implies, I am wondering what are your opinions of hunters so far this expansion? I just got around to playing it a bit and it feels really strong. The class currently has the highest class win-rate on HS replay, along with having two well-performing decks in Mech hunter and Secret Hunter. It feels strange that warrior, druid, and rogue are getting all the flack while Hunter has just been in the background doing pretty good for itself. That being said, just want to quickly note that I don't think Hunter needs to be nerfed, nor any class right now.

What are all of your opinions on the class in the meta right now?

Hi, I just found this thread and I need help beating the LK with Shaman, Warrior and Warlock, with standard format.

I burned every wild card, so spending money in wild cards is not an option. I alresdy searched for decks but all are out of date.

Do you happen to have Mecha'thun? It works against the Lich King and so you can easily cheese the warrior fight and while not as easy, you can do the same with Shaman and Warlock.

posted a message on YOUR GOD EMPEROR HAS ARRIVED!Share your decks and experiences

Not planning on getting into standard as I'm missing like 95% of the cards and I don't have an income to spend on getting them, but I do plan on drafting the new set since it does look pretty cool and fun. The only cards I'm really excited about in this set are the new Karn because it gives another null rod to combo people out in commander and Tezzeret because Affinity of Artifact is gross and I love it.

As for the big reason I'm commenting on this thread is because I've noticed you have an 'obsession' with Bolas and I was wondering why? I know he's been around for a while but I'm wondering what makes him stand out to you as opposed to the other MTG villains/characters? I haven't read the old lore about Bolas from back in Legends but the new stuff and the stuff in Alara don't really compare to Memnarch, Praetors and just phyrexia in general in my opinion.

posted a message on Let's make all Classic Cards F2P

Going to be honest, I'm not reading 100~ responses before I write this comment so sorry if I repeat what anyone else said earlier.

Anyway, there's a couple of issues I have a couple of issues with the whole idea of making classic/older stuff free. The largest issue is that it invalidates earlier purchases for those who did buy packs or preorder stuff. This type of stuff tends to occur when games need to go F2P in order to survive. They face backlash and have to heavily compensate the players who did pay for the original product. Making stuff free also ruins a player's progression. I remember when I started I saw all the real strong legendaries such as Sylvanus and Ragnaros and wanted to work towards getting them. When I finally got around to getting them, it feels good to play with something you've worked so hard to get. I know this falls into the whole EA "pride and accomplishment" thing but I do feel like getting rewarded is important.

The only thing I do feel needs to become F2P is older adventures, not including the actual card rewards. What I mean by this is that if you created a new account, you literally cannot play the Naxx, BRM, LoE, Karazahn, KFT or KnC solo content unless you play money in the blizzard store. Some of my fondest memories in this game come from playing these single player adventures and it's such a shame that new players don't know they exist unless they check the store. For mobile players, I don't know how blizzard handles the store but if it is the same situation as in the desktop version, they might not even know the adventures exist. Players should be able to get the older adventures with gold and they still should be able to play the KnC and KFT expansions, even if they can't get any cards. It's such a waste in my opinion.

posted a message on Elysiana, Barnes and Bloodloom Nerfs (Speculation)
    Quote from Ace100ace200 >>

Sorry but that argument is also valid for Chef Nomi. Why is she better or more fair than Elysiana?

Going to be honest, I forgot about Chef Nomi so thank you for bringing that up. As to why I think Chef Nomi is fairer than Elysiana is just that Chef Nomi can be countered more easily than Elysiana can. Not only is there the whole pulling it with Hecklebot plan, but Nomi is also able to be countered by a lot of AoE, such as Hagatha's Scheme, Twisting Nether and Brawl. Chef Nomi is also harder to bring back to your hand as Youthful Brewmasters and the usual recursion that works for Elysiana does not work with her as the board will be full. This means that the only classes that can reliably bring her back to your hand are Priest with Seance and Rogue with Shadowstep/waggle pick and I guess Togwaggle's Scheme. While there is a priest deck running around using Nomi and Seance as a win condition (which I've been playing a fair bit of recently), it can still be beaten down early and due to not being able to heal, play Nomi and Seance, if the opponent can get into face damage earlier, you can often die in fatigue. Nomi also does not give the possibility to have both players end in a tie from hitting the turn limit.

Basically, I think both cards can be problematic, but at least at this moment, Elysiana causes games to go on significantly longer and has less counterplay than Nomi does and so I think she is more problematic.

Wait.... people are actually complaining about Elysiana now...? o.O
    Wow...

The only reason why I complain about Elysiana is that it turns control mirrors into RNG fiestas. If you can pull out the Elysiana with a Hecklebot, chances are you've won because both warrior and shaman have enough healing/armor gain to take things to fatigue regularly. If you cannot pull out Elysiana with Hecklebots, it becomes a match of who is greedier by running a Youthful Brewmaster or Baleful Banker. Whoever is greedier is going to win pretty much all the time unless they filled their new deck with trash and the other person got incredibly good discover. If both players are greedy and have a way to get Elysiana back, then the game just hits the turn timer and ends in a tie. I feel like this card is in the same boat as Yogg Saron is in. Both cards trivialize the rest of the game as it comes down to playing one card and just make the game feel boring if you cannot counter the card.

Don't get me wrong, I like the card a lot and it's one of the reasons why I like control a lot this expansion because it makes fatigue much more of an actual game plan instead of just gaining tons of armor and waiting in fatigue. However, when a decent chunk of control mirrors end with both players in a tie, it just isn't satisfying, especially when the game takes 15-20 minutes.

There is also the whole "tournament scheduling is fucked because each game takes 30-40 minutes" thing, but I do not feel like that is a good argument for nerfing a card.

posted a message on I already miss the Hero Cards

While I think the Death Knights were overall incredibly unbalanced, only having some classes have hero cards are incredibly unbalancing for the game. Hagatha and Dr. Boom are two incredibly strong late game tools and while Zul'jin isn't used in the same way, instead being used as a finisher. While it may be too early to say that non-shaman non-warrior control decks aren't viable this expansion, those are the two classes that have excelled as control decks so far.

I feel that each class should have at least one hero card for a late-game alternative. They have learned since the death knights and I feel that if they were to make hero cards for all the classes again, the game would be in a better state.
