"Fun deck" is just a way to deflect criticism on a deck before it starts. If the winrate isn't very high or the deck is near-unplayable jank, just stick the "for funsies" label on it.

As for poor card choices, welcome to a kiwiinbacon decklist.

posted a message on I feel bad for new players

The key difference in my opinion that makes Hearthstone absolutely unforgiving for new players that aren't willing to spend money is actually the crafting system; with cards having flat value, it can be more difficult to convert one crazy pull into insane value.

As an example, I used to play Magic: the Gathering. If I cracked a pack and got a good pull, it could mean getting enough store credit at my LGS to buy more packs or singles; if I kept it, I could trade it to someone for key deck pieces or sell it for cash. The dust system makes it so if I pull a legendary, it's worth 400 dust with no variation unless it's golden. Every card of a given rarity is worth the same and costs the same to craft. The alternative would be a trade-based economy where cards have dynamic values based on player perception rather than set values put in place by the developers.

The static values of a dust-based system that allows for crafting has definitely been convenient for me at several points in the past; being able to save my dust from duplicates alone and make legendary cards is pretty convenient. Unfortunately, the four-to-one ratio most crafting follows ensures I wait a long time for such an occasion, rather than a trade based system possibly allowing me to go 1:1.

    Just my two cents.

posted a message on Is it even possible to win with Toki?

I cleared her on my first attempt; I went Entrenchment and Double Time to make my critters trade better and resource creation better, and then picked mechs. On Infinite Toki, I cheesed out value minions every turn and eventually played Blingtron 3000; I got Hammer of Twilight, she got Charged Hammer which downgraded her hero power. I got the compass that let me cheese out free Azure Drakes which I used to buff a Curio Collector, along with Arcane Intellect.

In other words, I got insanely lucky but Double Time is an awesome pick that makes things easier.

posted a message on Am i the only one here not having fun?

I can't even really play enough right now to know if it's fun; my preorder packs didn't leave me with enough cards or dust to make a somewhat viable deck. All the basic staple decks (tempo mage, control paladin, midrange hunter) for people with little to no money to spend on the game get ripped apart by pretty much everything I've played against since the set launched. Best advice I have is wait it out; have friends help you grind quests so you can get gold without having to waste a bunch of time with decks that don't work. I'm always told to play Arena and go infinite because it's apparently easy, but I've never gone more than 4-3.

posted a message on Share Your Witchwood Pack Opening Screenshots & Results!

I got Prince Liam as my freebie and figured that it was an omen of bad things to come. I wasn't wrong; I started with 77 packs. I got through about 40 because I got so angry I had to stop. Two legendaries (Archmage Arugal and Emeriss) out of those packs, three golden commons, and four epics. I'll open up the other 30 some odd packs later, but unless my luck turns around significantly, this will probably be what makes me not put another dime into this game. Plenty of people on here, Youtube, Reddit, rtc. all got insanely good pulls and I got jack shit.

posted a message on New Druid Legendary - Splintergraft

The first card I'm excited for. This singlehandedly earned my preorder; imagine dropping this sucker in a Wild OTK Druid deck; the battlecry is doubled by Brann Bronzebeard so you get two copies of whatever your big win con critter is; Aviana reduces cost to 1 mana for a 10/10. Imagine the win-more on two more 10/10 C'Thun or a pair of Malygos, or two Ragnaros the Firelord if that's your cup of tea!

Kind of surprised that no one has suggested Stitched Tracker, wouldn't it be pretty good?

I was just thinking about that!  Yes it would be amazing to fetch a missing combo piece, nice find!
No problem, thanks for making the deck. Most definitely going to try it/tweak it post-release.

posted a message on Is Cubelock Suffocating the Meta?

Personally, I think Warlock and Priest are the big dogs of the meta right now; I hate playing against both of them for different reasons. I do agree that Cubelock and other similar Warlock variants are warping the meta, but there are currently checks and balances that reduce its impact. The new expansion is going to give lock players some great tools based on what we've seen so far, and I think if no other class is given some very broken cards, Warlock has the ability to become downright oppressive in the proper environment.

Overall, as much as I dislike Warlock, I think there's enough ingenuity in the community and potential in the standard cards to brew something that can finally send it packing. We'll have to watch for what the new set brings and see how the chips fall.

Should we be worried about T5's commitment to forging a diverse meta when they reinforce Cubelock and give every other class memes?

Team 5 isn't worried about a diverse meta. They're worried about the bottom line.

posted a message on New Priest Legendary - Chameleos

What's the counterplay to this, now that I can't mill with Coldlights or force it out with Dirty Rat anymore? If they have this opening hand it basically means I get to have Priests constantly on top of my game plan with their ridiculous removal tools.

I'm so confused at this point, I don't I will ever be able to predict anything anymore. If Hunter gets 10-mana Dragon then for all I know they might push Beast Mage next...

That explains Vex Crow being printed.

Defile on crack that still leaves a 4/4 after you wipe the board. Really hoping we get some sort of "stifle" card that kills Battlecries soon or Lock is just going to get overpowered.

On a less critical note, the art is pretty cool.
