granite543 posted a message on Tavern of Time Arena ExperiencePosted in: The ArenaI really really enjoyed this event. I'm not huge into Arena, but I pretty much played Arena exclusively throughout the event. I didn't track my average, but it was likely between 3 and 4 wins. My best was a 7-win run, and I had three 6-win runs. But I also didn't get below 2-wins in any run. I started the event with 2200 gold, and ended it with the exact same amount. So unfortunately overall a losing proposition considering that includes the daily quests. However, it obviously was an overall gain because of the amount of cards/dust I gathered (up to 18,000 dust now and started the event at about 12,000 dust).
The new cards were tons of fun to play with...really changed the dynamic of the game. I agree that Paladin's Silver Sword kills me everytime I see it...far too powerful for the bucket its in. And everyone knows the pain of a Cavern Dreamer they couldn't take care of early enough. I did soooo many Arena runs mainly because I wanted to try Chromie, but unfortunately despite many legendary picks in my runs, I never had the chance to choose her. Oh well.
I will now finish my free non-event arena run and probably not touch arena too much until the next event or maybe the next expansion. Great event Blizzard!! Do it more!!

Sinti posted a message on Free Ticket if Wild Arena ends?Posted in: The ArenaOkay thanks :) just wanted to know if it happened this way last time arena changed
So its always good to stop your current arena run on X-2 - in case that arena changes it gives you 1 free entry, right?
Yes.Blizzard will not go out of their way to say "hey, cheat us!". But its pretty safe assumption that any time an arena reset is made, they "have to" give out free tickets. Cause even when they announce it several weeks in advance and also give in game notifications, that still doesnt mean that everyone who has unfinished arena would log into the game at that time and would notice it.So they just "have to" issue the free ticket for everyone to cover all bases (and yes, some ppl can abuse that). If they would not and said "hey, but we gave you early enough notice, your fault", that would be pretty horrible business model and the outcry that would come from the users would be pretty huge.So while they will not come out and say it (for obvious reasons), it is a reasonable assumption that this is how it's gonna play out. And past experiences confirm this logic as well. -

RevenantSC posted a message on If you started HS before the format shift, do you regret moving to standard?Posted in: Standard FormatI play Standard and Wild very interchangeably. When I get sick of seeing a particular deck, for example Giants Warlock/Hunter in Wild, I will switch formats for a while. I have no regrets about the addition of Standard mode. The main draw of standard mode is that the game changes more radically when new cards are released. I’m two months when the next rotation happens I will probably stick with Standard for the first month to experience as much as I can if the new cards. Entirely new decks will spring up which is very exciting.
More options for players is always a good thing. Standard makes the game much more accessible for new players, but Wild is a great place for people like me (played since Beta) to feel like our old cards still have value. It’s a win-win situation imho.

HackFin posted a message on Skulking Gheist and Jade DruidPosted in: Standard FormatI like the Geist in my Control Paladin. It is still okay to remove Evolve, Mortal Coil, Soulfire, Hallucination, Cold Blood, Inner Fire, Power Word: Shield, and so on.
So far the downside of a weak card against Aggro didn't feel too terrible. -

UnboundA7X posted a message on Standard Arena is not fun.Posted in: The ArenaI'm not going to argue whether the new arena is better or worse. Personally, though, I'm not sure it works for me. I don't play arena a lot, but I used to average 4 wins - not great, but not awful - with occasional spikes to 8-9 wins. I was excited by the announced arena changes, but in the five runs I've made with these changes, I've gone 1-2 wins each time. Some of that is undoubtedly my play, but some of it is also undoubtedly my drafts, which have not featured many good options. Add to that the fact that my losses have largely not been competitive, and I think I'm about to bow out of arena if nothing changes by my tenth run. It's not for me anymore.
Right with you, bro. I'm not a stellar Arena player either (I don't keep track of averages, but probably 3-4 for me; average or slightly above. I've made 12 wins once and 11 twice, and have gotten all but two classes to at least 7 wins.) but since the changes I haven't made more than 3 wins at all, and I've played at least half a dozen runs. I am running out of gold, as it's not getting replenished by any good quality arena runs, and I tend to get only dust from the poor run rewards. I'm losing interest fast - I like Arena because it breaks up the monotony of constructed (which, of course, speaks to the state of constructed right now too), but it doesn't really feel that way anymore. Hoping for a good (mindless) brawl this week. -

I like it, but the arena playerbase is too small to divide it up. I'd rather Blizzard have more 'special' arena weeks like this, preferably at least once a month. And it doesn't have to be dual class. They could have a week where wild cards are included again, or Naxx cards are included, or spell choices are higher-chance, or some random constant effect is always in play, etc.

People like me who are struggling in arena will drop back out as soon as the free tickets are gone, so don't worry, you'll be dealing with a small pool of players like yourself soon enough. I don't think you'll find that as enjoyable.

Played a few more runs, not seeing much improvement. Got a 5 and 4-win run, but also just had an 0-3, my first one ever. I was ok with averaging 3 wins. It's not fun to average 1-2 wins like I am now. So, I'm out. Will be curious to see how the people who like this arena feel once more guppies like me drop out, and only the sharks are left to cannibalize themselves.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. My home-brewed burglary decks have been pretty terrible due to a scarcity of cards in my collection, and due to my general lack of experience with Rogue. Following this (with a few exceptions - traded out the Acidic Ooze for a second Agent, traded out the owl and tomb spider for two Assassinates, and traded out the second Huckster (which I don't own) for a Shaku (who's finally been shining for me)), I've been doing much better. Granted, I'm only playing in ranks 19-20 right now, but it's nice to have a burglary rogue that's even slightly competitive.

I'd like to be able to filter my uploaded collection to show (for example) just my legendary cards, or just my epic cards. Right now, if I search on the term 'legendary', I'm only shown cards that actually have the word 'legendary' in their text. If I'm missing an obvious way to do this, let me know.
