posted a message on 4 Legendary GvG Cards - Warrior, Mage, Rogue, Priest [CONFIRMED]

Honestly, between the new card back (goblin/mech theme) and that tweet, the possibility of these cards being legit has jumped pretty high in my mind.  The only things that still give me pause are the coin mechanic, and the card causing damage when drawn, since it gives away what card you just drew.

I dunno...it's hard to judge, but their wording seems pretty realistic to me, and 'Mech' would make sense as a class.

And the juggernaut's effect could be interesting, if it's real.  Instead of forcing your opponent to draw cards to kill them with fatigue, you could now also do that to try getting them to hit the mine.  Or you could play the juggernaut when your opponent only had 1-2 cards left.  And in general, it might cause an opponent to hesitate using card draw...though, seems like a corresponding mine sweeper card would be needed to negate this, because it's too OP otherwise (unless that's considered ok since it's a legendary, and there can only be one per deck).  And I could see it starting out at 10 and being nerfed in their internal alpha/beta testing, as they verify whether it's too much.

Edit - I guess I do question the authenticity of the Flame Leviathan, though.  Having something happen when you 'draw' a card is a red flag to your opponent, telling them exactly what card you drew.  I wouldn't think they'd add something that would give away your hand before you'd played it.

That said, they had additional experimental cards in the previous adventure that they didn't release to users, so this could still be something like that.

posted a message on Did everybody except me just get significantly better at this game?

I played ranked in Asia for the first time this week.  Granted, I don't have a huge cardbase in Asia - just the basics and a few packs opened - but I know how to play and never had any trouble getting into the mid-upper teen rankings in NA/Europe.  In Asia, though, I struggled to get to rank 20, losing several times to other players at rank 25, two who had legendaries!  I'd never experienced such difficult games so low in the rankings before.  The user IDs were all English, so I'm wondering if I was running into other experienced NA players who were leveling up accounts in Asia, like I was.

Yeah, I agree, I used to play Casual quite a bit, but in the past few weeks I started having a very difficult time in Casual, losing 14 out of 16 at one point.  At that point I switched to Ranked and started winning more.   With ranked, I think you should ultimately end up at a rank where your winning percentage is about 50% (though, it's always a little tougher at the beginning of each month).  So, if you're winning less than 50% of the time in casual, I'd recommend spending time in ranked.

I sometimes get annoyed and frustrated like that too, but one thing that I've found helps me feel better is to watch streamers playing on twitch.  For some reason, seeing how apathetically most of them take losses, and seeing how casually they throw out cards, calms me down and causes me to reflect their attitude (for a little while) when I start playing again.  It also helps when I think the streamer should make a different play, and I'm proven correct, at least in that moment...it feels a little like a win, even if I wasn't actually playing.

posted a message on New game modes?

I'd like a mode where you can challenge a friend to an 'arena'-style match, where you each pick decks and then play each other.

Or, barring that (since I doubt Blizzard would ever make a 'free' version of arena mode, even just for friends), maybe have a mode where you can challenge a friend using decks that are randomly built from your collection (after you pick a class).  I play like that against my wife sometimes, where we both let the computer create a deck full of random cards and then use our random decks against each other.  It'd be quicker to have that process automated, and it gets us to play sometimes with cards that we never otherwise use.

posted a message on Why are there separate regions for hearthstone?

I actually like having three separate regions to play in.  It's annoying to go through the tutorial more than once, but aside from that, I like having cards in one region and not in another.  Maybe I'll eventually get to the point where all the accounts are about the same, but for now they're like different flavors, providing a little variety in my deck building.

Of course, I don't netdeck or stick with specific strategies that are the same in all my decks.  If I did that, I'd probably like it less.
