user-21377289 posted a message on The Future of Discover and InspirePosted in: General DiscussionHey, you should have asked for inspire and discover cards separately :)
Personally, I love the discover mechanic and think that's one of the best things that Blizzard has ever introduced into the game. It's a controlled and fun way of doing RNG.
In the future I would like to see more inspire+ cards (that's what I call them anyway). Inspire+ means that a card triggers an effect when your hero power is used but also under other circumstances. Examples of this are
- Floating Watcher → triggers when you take damage, thus it synergizes with the Warlock's hero power
- Siege Engine → triggers when you gain armor, thus also when the warrior uses the hero power
- Holy Champion → healing triggers this card and the priest's hero power is one potential source among others
There's an interesting inspire+ card in the WOG set that does this as well: [card]Steward of Darkshire[/card].

Agithore posted a message on If you could remove something from the games what would it be?Posted in: General DiscussionQuote from DoctorZedman >>+1 to removing Ice Block, no class needs invulnerability that can't be removed (Mal Ganis can be killed by more things than Ice Block can be removed by pre-activation), especially not a class that doesn't need board control to fireball you down anyway.
Mage salt, but still.
Oh, how smart you are! I can't believe there was even a card that can be used against secrets!!! Let me just put it in my deck because it performs so well against 9/9 classes. -

ShadowsOfSense posted a message on Class Concept - The ArchivistPosted in: Fan CreationsHello, and welcome one and all to my class concept, featuring cards all the way up to The Grand Tournament. Please keep in mind when viewing this that I know next to nothing about WoW, and that the idea behind this design wasn't to create something realistic to the lore of WoW, but to create my own lore that fleshes out my idea.
So here it is: The Archivist
Archivists are battle-ready librarians and researchers, ready to get right to the heart of combat in order to catalogue and record everything that goes down. They make use of the many spell books that have come into their possession over the years to wield powerful magic, and oftentimes will use their collected knowledge of the opponent to strategically take them out.
Archivist's weapons incorporate a new keyword: Spellwear.
Spellwear refers to the wear and tear that the books an Archivist uses receives out in the heat of battle, as the Archivist casts powerful magic in close proximity to it. Spellwear as a keyword is a shortened way of saying, "After you cast a spell, remove 1 Durability from this weapon".
Archivist's also benefit from the help of Justicar Trueheart, who brings with her the key to a greater library for them to peruse.Check the Spoiler below for the Basic Set.

RaresForest Librarian was actually the first card that I made when I was coming up with the concept for the Archivist class, and it's partially her fault that a lot of the earlier cards in the set focus on the Durability of the weapons so much - an interesting idea that I found was fun to explore, as it hasn't been touched upon too much by Blizzard.
Fun trivia about Inpectacles - it used to be part of the Basic set, before I realised that it was actually an illegal entry to the design competition as a Basic Card, as it involved the Stealth mechanic. When I changed it with Manadrain Orb, I somehow managed to make the same mistake twice and had Manadrain Orb interacting with Stealth as well! As it is, I'm happy with where they ended up, but it's funny to think how it happened.Epics
LegendaryOne of the many references in the set, The Librarian is based upon and uses art of the character of the same name from Terry Pratchet's novels.

EpicsMy favourite pun of the set. You often have me to blame if the title of a Card Design Competition is a particularly groan worthy pun, so apologies for that. I just can't help myself, they're so accessible, almost everyone can get them!

Innate Archivist and Brightspawn's Mark were made when I realised that we didn't really have any options to flesh out the early game cards available to the class - as it was up until this point, Scroll Keeper was your go-to, and maybe it still would be, but adding the options in was nice.

The Grand Tournament brought easily the biggest challenge with it - suffering in the same way as Rogues, I just couldn't give my class any Inspire cards of their own. Adela Brightspawn was the answer to this, acting similarly to Poisoned Blade though hopefully infinitely better than it. I also made sure to word it properly, in a way that would make functional sense, unlike some cards coughPoisoned BladecoughSteamwheedle Snipercough.Check the Spoiler below for the three League of Explorers cards.
_______________________________________________________________And there we have it! I hope you enjoyed looking through these cards as much as I did making them - I started this class all the way back when we ran the Class Creation Competition, and only just found the motivation to finish it.
Let me know what you think, if you think there should be any balance tweaks or if you're just wondering why a card exists. I'll be updating this every so often and adding lore and design behind-the-scenes and things like that to it, and I'll update it when new expansions come out as well. Thanks for reading, and keep on creating! -

HearthMasterJKROFLMAO posted a message on Top 10 released cards of LOEPosted in: AdventuresBrann Bronzebeard into Unearthed Raptor on turn 6 on something like a coined Sylvanas, or Piloted Shredder, etc. would be a HUGE tempo play, either silence it or deal with 2-3 stolen minions/2 drops/etc. I can see the Raptor opening up a whole new archetype.

user-22183953 posted a message on Congratulation to anyone with the patience and skill to get to Legend - you deserve itPosted in: General DiscussionHey there! I have been playing Hearthstone for a long time now (January 2014) and I played enough to have a wide collection and the possibility of building pretty much any deck out there. However, before this month I never really found myself interested in laddering so I always used "Casual Mode" to do my games. The only exception was during pre-GVG when I reached rank 6 using a Zoo deck but I got there without putting too much effort in terms of hours (mostly questing) and I got there basically winstreaking, not to mention Zoo was top tier back then.
I tend to play Hearthstone in short bursts so the thought of having to sit for hours after hours playing the game never really sounded interesting to me. However, this month I found myself with more time in my hands and with the new ranked rewards I thought "Why not try to reach Legend this month? The cardback is pretty cool."
I started playing on rank 20 I believe, using my Control Warrior (my favourite deck) and I reached rank 12 without much effort. Going from rank 12 to 10 was a bit more challenging and I had to spend around 5 hours to reach rank 10 but the problem was going further than 10. At rank 10 I started losing games like crazy and my win rate dropped considerably. I had 5 losses on a row and I started getting somewhat upset. Later on that day I decided to pick another deck (Tempo Mage) and I winstreaked my way to rank 8. At this moment I thought It was the deck that I was playing before that wasn't good enough for ladder.
Then today I started playing again at rank 8 and got crushed completely almost back to rank 10. After 4 hours playing I was somehow able to go back to rank 8 but spending 4 hours just to be able to recover the stars I had lost really gave me a new perception on what laddering means: playing a good deck is not enough, you need either to be extremely skilled or be willing to put insane amount of hours to reach Legend.
Trying to reach legend this month made me gain huge respect for anyone that has reached Legend. You are either a very skilled person or you wanted Legend so badly that you put a colossal amount of effort into getting there. Legend rank was not made for me, but huge congratulations to anyone else that got there. You are really something else.

I was originally going to write out all my legendaries in order of unpacking but then I realized that I don't remember. All I remember is that my first legendary was Leeroy Jenkins and my second was Alexstrasza, and my third was a golden Tirion Fordring. My most recent is a Gold Ragnaros, Lightlord, second most recent was a N'Zoth and third most recent (in between bunches of WoTOG packs) was Archmage Antonidas.
Other than my crappy "Alexstrasza then Leeroy+Blessing of Kings them to death" midrange noob paladin, I can't remember much. I remember being infuriated by mages on a daily basis, with their flamestrikes and polymorphs and fireball lethals.

I was really surprised that a terrible Basic card like Sinister Strike would make the honorable mentions of a top 10 list for an expansion.
In all seriousness though, Shaman's totally crazy now and it's all because they got a Dr. 4 and a Dr. 2 that cleans up its mess perfectly.
Ragnaros, Lightlord has been performing well for me as well, far better than his more fiery brother, although I could see myself including both in a deck.

Absolutely destroys other rogues who try to use their weapons as removal. Heh. Milling a Twin Emperor Vek'lor when I'd just shadowstepped Leeroy and reduced him to 1 HP was definitely a highlight as well.

Definitely craft N'Zoth and Rag, Malygos if you want to build that kind of deck, Deathwing will probably be good for dragon decks but hold back on that for now. If you like control shaman or non-C'thun Druid then Hallazeal or Fandral might be good for you too, but again hold back to wait for the meta.
1
If you really want a rogue deck with C'thun in it, replace the frostwolf grunts with Beckoner of Evils.
Personally, I'd say playing a different class might be best.

I miss Quartermaster. He'd make that midrange divine shield paladin so strong, especially with Stand Against Darkness. 5 3/3s with Divine Shield? That deck would become the definition of win more.

I guess his name has the comma because otherwise it would be too confusing since "Ragnaros the Firelord" and "Ragnaros the Lightlord" are 66% identical while "Ragnaros the Firelord" and "Ragnaros, Lightlord" are only 50% identical.
This is a name coming from the devs that brought us "more deck slots would confuse people", and while I may be being too cynical, it's always worth appearing as a jerk to spread the "Blizzard thinks we're dumb" meme.

RIP Quartermaster, you will be missed.

5-6 in Constructed since I rarely care about it, 7-8 in Arena because that's where I spend my game time and have gotten good at being lucky, and 10 in Tavern Brawl, where there are no misplays, only hilarious BM.
