Hi everyone, I just wanted to make a sneak peak of the project me and my team have been working on called The Halls of Brawl. Bizmo Brawlpub and Boss Bazzelflange wanna settle the score and figure out which Brawler's Guild—the Horde's or the Alliance's— has the better fighter, and their solution was to launch a tournament of epic proportions and see, once and for all, which faction fights the hardest.
I will let everyone name one card (none of the italicized names), and at 7:30pm EST I will return with a straw poll with all the cards that were named, at which point you guys can vote on the card you want to see. See you guys then!
Therazane will be a Legendary card in this expansion, without a doubt. However, her usage of the Crystallize keyword doesn't quite sit with me, so we will be tweaking the idea to see if we can get it work later.
Changed the name of Twilight Acolyte
This was just an oversight. Twilight Zealot is the new name.
Currently, I think the direction I want to take with the expansion involves an emphasis on large, late-game threats, which means expensive cards with large effects, and yet with big stats. This is reflected in cards like Earthen Stoneshaper and Colossal Gyreworm. Lemme know what you think!
There are artifacts in this world that hold great power. The power to bend the will of all who stand before its wielder. The power to harness the arcane energy that courses through the veins of this world. The power to turn its user into a beast that can cut down any foe. Should these weapons fall into the wrong hands, Azeroth would fall into chaos. The Earthen Ring has taken it upon themselves to protect the world from the most destructive weapons on Azeroth, storing them away in the deep recesses of Deepholm. But evildoers desire to take these weapons and use them for their own diabolical plans. Can you help this organization preserve the safety of this world?
Themes and Mechanics
The expansion's unique keyword is called Crystallize. When a character is Crystallized, it means it's encased in a Crystallize that protects it from everything, prevents it from being targeted, and takes away its ability to attack. When the controller's next turn ends, the character that has been Crystallized will be destroyed.
Deepholm is coursing at the seams with magical energies, which many seek to harness to strengthen themselves. Several cards this expansion benefit from Spell Damage in unorthodox ways!
The Crystalarium was made to hold dangerous and powerful artifacts, so that evil people can't use them to wreak havoc upon Azeroth. All these weapons must be attacked with in order to get their full power out.

F.A.Q. (Never Asked Question)
Q: What year is this a part of? A: It's part of the Year of the Viper, which it shares with Azeroth's Most Wanted, the expansion that came before it. Just pretend that Year of the Viper happens alongside Year of the Dragon.
Q: What sets influence The Crystalarium's balance? A: Currently, Azeroth's Most Wanted and all the cards that are currently in the standard cycle.
Q: What are the full plans for this set? A: Voice acting for the cards, more lore, perhaps a logo for the expansion (and the previous one), stuff like that. If you wanna help, feel free to shoot me a DM if you wanna help!

We're making astounding progress on this expansion, and I'm loving it! Our previous project, Azeroth's Most Wanted, took around 5 months to complete all the cards, and this page hasn't been up for even 2 months yet! Soon, we'll get our website up and running and we'll be able to host all our additional stuff, like pre-made Whizbang decks, theorycrafted decks from the dev team (Including me, the masterful Wild player), voice lines, flavor text, and even expansion lore! Thanks for sticking around, it's been a lot of fun even though no one really seems all that interested in my little nerdy project haha
Tripletrifler was kinda out of place, and I felt like the class had too many Combo cards, considering I had no desire to push an archetype based on the keyword. Furthermore, it was pretty polarizing—really good if your opponent didn't have AoE, and really bad if they did. Shank Collector moved in to replace it, and I like that card a lot more.
Changed Dark Mortician
- Changed text to "Battlecry: Choose a friendly minion. When it dies, its Deathrattles will trigger twice."
This is just a small quality of life change. Maybe you don't wanna target a minion with Deathrattle. The previous text also required it to target a Deathrattle minion if possible, which would include enemy ones. So... Yeah, nothing really changed, it's just a change so the card is less annoying to use.
Fixed Lock'n'Load Crossbow being erroneously Neutral instead of Hunter.
- Changed text to "Hidden. Poisonous while Hidden."
Originally, Kaldorei Huntress was balanced with Venomizer in mind. However, I later changed my mind on the idea as I believe 2-Mana destroy effects should be very situational, or at least restricted to classes that need it. As such, Kaldorei Huntress will now only ever be able to Poison one minion before losing the cloak.
Changed Bonechill Bandit
- Attack changed to 6 (from 5). - Changed text to "Battlecry: Discover a card that Freezes."
Since this expansion is being built with the fact that the Year of the Mammoth has rotated out of Standard, a lot of Freeze cards will no longer be available. With such a limited pool of cards (2 from Un'Goro and 3 from KFT), and I decided it would be better if Bonechill Bandit was able to discover all cards that were capable of Freezing minions, extending the effect to Water Elemental, Frost Elemental, and Glaciarium Protector.
Update 1/1/19 - Happy New Year! Have a bunch of cards!
Added 1 Neutral Common - Drakemonger Added 1 Neutral Rare - Evidence Cataloguer Added 1 Neutral Epic - Sanctum Enchanter Added 1 Druid Legendary - Celestine of the Harvest (+5 Tokens, Celestine's Seed, Treant of Winter, Treant of Spring, Treant of Summer, Treant of Autumn) Added 1 Hunter Rare - Filet Minion Added 2 Paladin Commons - Libram of Might, Shadowy Vindicator Added 1 Paladin Rare - Sunray Added 1 Rogue Epic - Dark Mortician Added 1 Warrior Rare - Axe of Omens
Added 1 F.A.Q. Section so I could clarify some things about the expansion.
Added Chivi to the dev team. He's the front-end developer, and will host the project's website when it's finished.
Changed Rallying Call
- Mana Cost to (4) (from 3)
Rallying Call was clearly overtuned, potentially being a 3-Mana +6/+6. This is particularly problematic with Odd Paladin—though that archetype is not particularly strong right now, the upgraded Paladin Hero Power is one of the strongest Hero Powers available and it certainly wouldn't take much for it to come back to relevancy.
Changed Know Your Enemy
- Changed text to "Copy your opponent's Hero Power for one use only."
Previously, the card copied your opponent's original Hero Power. I then realized Death Knights would rotate out before this expansion was finished and stopped balancing around it. As such, Know Your Enemy now has much more potential application as a tech card, particularly against Odd Decks, or decks that run Dr. Boom, Mad Genius or Hagatha the Witch.
Changed Rain Spirit
- Mana Cost to (3) (from 2) - Attack to 2 (from 1)
It was way too strong in its current iteration. After some thought, I realized 2 Overloaded Mana Crystals wasn't nearly as bad as not being able to attack like Nerubian Egg. On top of that, cards like Likkim also have to be taken into account with this sort of card.
seems really unfun to play against, its kind of like secrets but way more possible things for it to be
Actually it's not that bad. Since there's only between 4-6 per Cost, and you always know the Cost of the Hidden card played. Combine that if the fact the generally, one or two of those Hidden cards are usually class exclusive, there are actually fewer cards to play around.
I love Royal Factor Bathrilor. It could potentially make certain OTK decks very powerful, like APM Priest, but I love the idea.
Very cool designs, and I like the Hunter legendary!
I'm glad you like Bathrilor! You're definitely right about APM Priest wanting a card like that, but that's fine IMO. I'm slightly biased because APM Priest is undisputably awesome, but this card definitely wouldn't break the deck because of how expensive and slow it is. Great addition, and it would definitely buff the deck, but I'd be surprised if it made the deck even Tier 3.
And yes, Worgenhood is awesome. I got super lucky with the art haha
Another smaller update. This update is just to make clear that the Defias Brotherhood is definitely going to play a role as one of the factions that are present. Is one of the Defias members the murderer? Maybe. Maybe not. Still, they're Defias, and someone's gotta bring them to justice all the same.
