Pretty good, but not a game changer like Sunkeeper or Tirion. Can sometimes come out as a 3/7 in the right deck, which makes it a big threat, but even alone it can't be ignored or it will grow fast. Plus, the 5-drop slot isn't very crowded in Midrange Paladin (right now).

And come on, I'd play it for the art alone.

Frankly, I'd rather use my Houndmasters on Rat Pack or Carrion Grub. Being untargettable has its perks, but a 3-health minion on turn 3 gets removed by pretty much any board, and so many weapons, that it feels very "meh".

A 6/5 Taunt on turn 4 sounds good, but it requires this surviving... which means you're just dominating the board anyway.

Decent in Arena, as far as all 4/3 three-drops can be. Probably won't make the cut in Constructed over Animal Companion, Rat Pack, Cloaked Huntress and Eaglehorn Bow.

posted a message on "The Caverns Below" is getting nerfed
    Quote from Demonxz95 >>

I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for saying this, but I'm honestly not that convinced that the Quest Rouge nerf was needed.

This thread will basically tell you why: https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/6k2b8f/unpopular_opinion_i_dont_the_rogue_quest_needed/

     I agree with you.

I, personally, seriously doubt this deck had as a big of a strangling effect on the meta as its detractors presume.

    1) The deck never had a very impressive win rate.

    2) It showed a large performance gap between high and low ranks - from this we can conclude it actually had a significant skill ceiling. Most posters on here would agree having decks that reward skill is good.

    3) It is a "meta-call" deck - it hard counters certain decks and is weak to others, which means, again, that choosing to pilot it (or to pilot a counter deck if it becomes too prevalent) rewards skill (in a meta reading sense).
Now there are a few common strikes against the deck
    A) The deck is "not fun" to play against. The problem, here, is that fun is subjective. I love playing against Quest Rogue, as it forces you to adapt your game plan to their deck. Many players hate playing against Freeze mage (or any other combo deck) and yet it doesn't get nerfed.

    B) The deck closes games "too quickly". What is "too quickly"? Old Face Hunter, old Aggro Shaman, current Pirate Warrior or Token Druid, there are many decks who regularly end games even more quickly than Quest Rogue, They punish greedy lists and plays.

    C) The deck allows "no counterplay". Well, this is Hearthstone. There is next to no counterplay at all in the game. Still, there are ways ti disrupt Quest Rogue, so I feel this comes from ignorance.

    D) The deck "pushes control out of the meta". Really, now? I get that it's a polarizing deck, but a deck with 5-10 % presence alone cannot push entire archetypes out of the meta. And still, even if Quest Rogue should disappear, Jade Druid is there to take its place as the "anti-control" meta call.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, from a purely competitive, analytical viewpoint, Quest Rogue certainly didn't deserve a nerf. The effect it has (if it has any) on the meta can be replicated by other decks, it actually requires some measure of skill, it doesn't win that often or that fast, and is actually easy to counter.

But, well, people hate it. So there goes the ban-hammer. I get it, it's an intelligent business decision - heck, MtG also banned entire archetypes because they were so hated that they could see drops in tournament attendance. It's just disappointing, because it shows how little actual game balance actually matters for the playerbase - and by extension, for Blizzard.

The Caverns Below. Now I know the deck is hated, but I crafted it day one, wanting to see if it worked. The way it forces deckbuilders to look at overlooked cards makes it a very interesting design - it might be a little overtuned, but it remains a nice idea. Plus, bonus points for being the only quest (with the mage one, I guess) that is not extremely boring and straightforward (play X of Y).

posted a message on Why do you hate the decks requiring skill?

People hate losing. People hate being outplayed. Both send them a negative image of themselves, and as such, as a defensive measure, people tend to blame external factors for their losses (this deck is overpowered, the matchmaking is rigged, the RNG wasn't on my side) and disregard opponent's skill, thus preserving their ego - despite losing, one likes to think of himself as the "good" player, and the opponent as a "bad" or "lucky" player.

In short, it doesn't matter how skill-intensive decks are. As long as some decks win, a huge part of the playerbase will consider them as skill-less, thus protecting their self-esteem. Actually, most high performing decks *are* skill intensive - low skill ceiling decks tend to fall out of favor quickly.

posted a message on This expansion has been pretty good, but what's the biggest let down to you?

My biggest gripe right now is Arena balancing. It felt like they were trying to improve it, but then they had to go ahead and give the most insane cards to the three most historically dominating classes - and with the spell offering bonus, the increased rate of higher rarities, and (for Mage) endless spell generating effects, it feels like everyone packs mutiple Meteors and Primordial Glyphs, Envenom Weapons and Vilespine Slayers, or Spikeridged Steed.

God, I miss the Piloted Shredder days. At least everyone had access to it.

    best deck to get legend?

Secret Mage, Murloc Aggro or Midrange Paladin, Pirate Warrior, Token Druid.
Jade Druid isn't even close to having the highest winrate, and even if it had, it takes forever to close games. Not a good deck to climb the ladder.

Heavily reliant on mulligan; slightly favoured at best against hunter/PW, bad against priest and quest warrior which all make up a pretty substantial part of the meta. It's really just good against... rogue?

seems as if you have no idea :)
no quest warriors between rank 10 and 5 yesterday and I am 4-0 vs priest (you are super favoured).
the deck is tier 1 and you will see itconfirmedi n next meta report.
Can we please have someone update the deck status to t1? Thanks to Dontbemad we now have all the data we need for such claim!  I mean the deck is 100% winrate against priest, come on.
dude please... I am not telling that it's tier 1 because I went to rank 5 with it yesterday.
I am saying this because I know the meta cause of playtime and experience during last weeks. did you even know that the first legend on EU (Yogg_HS) reached it yesterday with aggro druid? Feno for example played it to legend yesterday also.
You just need to recognize what pople are playing succesfully atm to know what is tier 1 or 2.
I am telling you again, in next meta report you will have it confirmed by tempostorm.
Tempostorm confirming the deck as tier one is the same as your cousin, who's, like, really good at Hearthstone, saying it's tier one. It's not that it's necessarily false - it's just an educated opinion. Same thing with having a top Legend player piloting it to rank one - it has more to do with the pilot's skill and the high Legend meta, which are not representative of the average player's skill and the general ladder meta. I personally will wait for significant data and fact.

That being said, Token Druid is a good deck, and has the potential to make tier one if the stars align (as in, the meta shifts so its good matchups are more prevalent). I'm guessing that it is more effective early in the season, as it's essentially a Zoo-like deck that punishes unrefined decks and Combo Rogue, and that can tech efficiently against Murlocs and Pirates. However, should it become top dog, it can be hated out. I don't see it as a meta-defining deck, more as a balancing force.

posted a message on Do you like aggro meta?
    Quote from Skyi101 >>

Funny considering the 3-4 strongest decks at the high rank meta are quest warrior, dragon priest, control mage and murloc Pali, of which non are agro.

There's a light sprinkling or quest rogue in there but its almost a free win to the aforementioned decks unless it draws perfectly.

I feel like every class is well represented at the moment. There's no one class not in rank ATM. That's a good sign. There'll always be easy to piloted face decks which is why during ladder climb we'll see lots of em but that's healthy and keep the game balanced.

Although while on my priest seeing t5-6 concedes just feels good. Lol.

Well, Warlock has pretty much disappeared. But the rest of your answer rings true - the meta is not aggro, especially at higher ranks.
There are essentially two aggro decks in the meta (three if you count Midrange Hunter)  : Murloc Aggro Paladin (which is ususally inferior to its Midrange counterpart) and Pirate Warrior (who has become very easy to tech against). Both are good, and serve Aggro's purpose in a meta : punish overly greedy lists (poorly teched Taunt Warriors, poorly built wannabe control decks) and, most importantly, combo decks (Freeze Mage, Crystal Rogue).
This meta is as close to balanced between archetypes as we're ever likely to get. The top spots are in constant flux depending on what decks are popular for the day.
For the poll itself, I don't mind. I mind single decks warping the meta enough that it becomes "play this or its counter". The rest is fine.

posted a message on Quest Druid or Quest Warlock for casual? Are they worth the dust?

Both quests actively reduce your chances to win. Warlock would rather have an early game minion to play, and Druid can't afford to durdle around and play with a one-card handicap. Both rewards either help you win an already won game, or do essentially nothing to save you if you were losing.

Both decks can be good - however Discard Lock and Ramp Druid are better without the quest than with it.

To all Freeze Mage players : I sincerely hope you fall down asshole first on a rusty pike. Preferably, you wouldn't die immediately. Your suffering will bring me much pleasure, and will make you feel somewhat the same way I feel playing against your mind-numbingly boring excuse of a deck.

(And to Blizzard : why in hell you introduced the Hall of Fame but didn't send Ice Block to rot in it is beyond me. You say you're not keen on uninteractive combo decks, but the truth is, you're not keen on non-Mage uninteractive combo decks.)

I for one welcome our new Miracle Priest Legendary.

There is no doubt in my mind that because they essentially gave a swingy Antonidas that is WAY cheaper and a defensively stated Sorcerer's Apprentice to Priest, along with a 2 mana Spell that can pull itself or other cheap spells still in your deck, Blizzard is def pushing a Priest Miracle-ish deck. Considering how many cheap cards priest has, and how many of those even cycle, this could be a cornerstone to make some of those ancient priest burst combos work.

Or this can completely fall apart because Horror(Not Purify, as long as you have a target for it on the board, even if you get it, it is still a fairly effective card to draw from and get a new spell from) or the new 8 mana spell end up clogging up the process. Time will tell I certainly wouldn't write it off.

I like coming back to those threads after a while and looking at what people wrote. Now I could have pointed out the hordes of people calling this card unplayable when it was a clearly powerful value engine, but that's a little too easy. I much prefer spotting the dissident opinions who turned out right.

You, sir (or lady), were quite visionary. Although it ain't tier one or anything, Miracle Priest is present on the ladder, and the legendary turned out to be a key piece of it. Bravo!

posted a message on C'thun Quest Warrior

I gave this deck a spin, and I liked it. However, it felt like the quest was superfluous - in twenty games I have completed it two or three times, and never even played the reward. Wouldn't a plain C'thun Warrior work just as well? What is the quest's purpose? What matchups does it improve / win?
