Not a fan of this version over the Bloodsail Raider + Patches the Pirate, Golaka Crawler and Ravasaur Runt variant with Knife Jugglers, he's so over loaded on 1 drops that the deck can't mount a clock

posted a message on The Rogue Quest, The Caverns Below, is OP. Nerf it already.

Honestly Quest Rogue reminds me a lot of pre-nerf Patron Warrior except it has a worse game vs face decks, most of the same elements are there between the cheating for free resources (Patron triggers vs Cavern buff) with really high burst potential from charge. The metagame seems fucked to me, because Warrior defines it on both ends of the spectrum and games come right down to how you roll on Dirty Rat.

I get where you're comming from but Elemental Shaman and Quest Warlock are like Tier 3 decks, you can't complain about a card being broken when you're not even playing a competitive deck or archetype.

I think it's a mistake to use Tarlord over Corrupted Seer with the Curator and Sleep with the Fishes already in the deck, it sets you up for the perfect T8 board clear.

I'm on the fence about it, on the hand you want Patches in order to enable your T3 Pirates but on the other hand you don't have enough good, low drops and it just instantly wins in the mirror.

Why do you have Fire Fly in your deck, if you have no syngergy for it?

It is just a 1/2 for one mana. Which is not particular great.

Why not swap it out with Bloodsail Corsair or Southsea Deckhand, and cut the Lotus Agent for Patches the Pirate? For a stronger early game turn. And to make your draws better in general.

There are a lot of decks using Fire Fly just for Flametongue Totem and Dire Wolf, I prefer it to the Southsea Deckhand and Patches the Pirate package because it's more resistent to removal and you don't have those auto-loss games to drawing Patches in your starting hand. The card is really flexible.

Anybody playing the Quest in Zoo doesn't understand how Zoo works, you don't need a card advantage engine in a deck with Life Tap you need tempo and board position. The only way the Quest makes any sense is if you run Deathwing and The Curator, and that is ridiculously commital.

Alright guys, played one game, and was able to pull off the combo, I really appreciate the feedback! This is what I have now:

    Over's Quick Draw OTK
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (15) Ability (15)
    Loading Collection

Still hoping people have some other types of decks utilizing the quest still though.

That's more or less the deck I use, I'd recommend cutting either the Loot Hoarders or the Novice Engineers for Frost Bolts, because you can't afford to lose the tempo or rely on the RNG to look for removal vs Pirate Warrior.

You shouldn't be using 4+ mana removal at all IMO, you rely on your Books, Glyphs and Tomes to deal with the more mid range boards. Replace that stuff with all of the Secrets and you'll do fine, Ice Block and to a lesser extent Barrier are how you break the symmetry of Coldlight Oracle. Shimmering Tempest is bad, what makes Babbling Book good is that it costs the opponent more resources to remove it for your mana investment, the 2 drop slot is for Novice Enginer or maybe Loot Hoarder and/or Bloodmage Thalnos because you are trying to cycle into Nova/Sayer ASAP.

Certain decks are good against other decks and bad against others.  If you are going up against quest rogue 27 times and losing every single time, you either have a trash deck or just need to adjust to the meta.  Mid-range hunter and discolock are good decks against rogue if you like faster decks.  Just build up your board while the rogue wastes time completing the quest, keep it clear and then hit face.  If you want a slower deck, go with handlock or taunt warrior.  Same as before, keep board clear of minions before the quest can be played, throw down some big taunts until they run out of cards, and keep hitting face until they die.  Quest Rogue isn't some horrible, unbeatable monstrosity, your deck is probably just weak against it.

I think you are missing the point. Yes you can beat Quest Rogue either by going full agro or taunt wall, but only a few classes can do this regularly, and even among those the archetypes are limited by QR to the types that can beat QR. It's severely hampering the meta as a result. My last game as QR, I had four 5/5 chargers and a weapon on turn four. That's obviously broken.

I'm not missing the point, I'm just explaining how metas work.  One deck seems very good, it is played a lot, very frequently and players win with it.  Because of this, other players figure out decks that do well against it (ie the ones I mentioned) or tech cards that can hard counter it (dirty rat) and end up playing them.  As a result, the deck becomes less popular
It doesn't work that way in Hearthstone. You tech in dirty rat and endup playing 5 exodia mages in a row. The "meta" concept doesn't hold water at a personal level if you do not play hundreds of games, statistical anomalies do make an average but still remain statistical anomalies when you play, say, 5 games a day like most people. "The meta" isn't what you see. You have zero way to prepare against deck X, chiefly because given the size of the player pool deck X might actually not be what you encounter when you play "anti deck X" deck. That's why counters like eater of secrets aren't played and why a ladder in Bo1 is not very reliable. Dirty rat is only really good in warrior because you can brawl/shield slam afterwards if you pull a big one. Tournaments are a whole other story, but tournaments aren't what the player base is playing, overall. Tournament play is a pretty nice experience, and it seems Blizzard does everything thinking ony of them. And even then there is a ban rule that allows for tournament players to tailor a strategy, which ladder player can't do.
Wait, you're complaining about teching Dirty Rat for Quest Rogue and playing against Quest Mage instead when Dirty Rat is even better vs Quest Mage than it is vs Quest Rogue ... what? The metagame isn't difficult to figure out, Quest Warrior turned all of Warrior's minions into Taunt without losing value in the control mirror because they activate your win condition, so it's basically Quest Warrior with 2xDirty Rat vs the rest of the metagame and everyone has to gamble on whether or not they mulligan for Pirate Warrior too. This is why you see people playing Miracle Rogue instead of Quest Rogue at legend, Quest Rogue is just a deck that shits all over anything fair but has an unfavourable match up vs Pirate Warrior. I think the big problem with the metagame is that they conslidated the only viable form of control and aggro into Warrior with the Magma Giant nerf and Power Overwhelming rotation, not to mention Priest and Hunter generally sucking, and you've just got this awful meta of Pirate Warrior going face, Control Warrior playing taunt after taunt, Quest Mage Freezing everything and Quest Rogue just being this weird hybrid combo, aggro value deck that puts any other dark horses out to pasture.  Every viable deck is basically the decks with the least interactive strategy possible, it feels like Combo WInter from MTG all over again.

Quest rogue isn't one of the best decks in the meta at all. It's not even the best rogue deck. It just makes people mad. You can complain about the deck all you want but it's not even holding a 50% win rate against the meta.

People in this forum are so fucking hilarious

"Shaman with pirates is too strong" Bucaneer and Spirit claws get nerfed

"Jade is too strong" A rogue deck that obliterates jades is added

"This quest rogue deck is too strong"  *facepalms*

Hearthstone in a nutshell mate. People just scream about what they don't like and don't take a moment to look at the numbers. It feels OP, so it must be, right? Jade was never top tier either... (Buccaneer and spirit claws were though, deserved nerf)
How often decks win isn't as imporant as how decks win, Pirate Warrior had a 53% win rate after a month with a low skill ceiling and Quest Rogue has a 48% win rate after 3 days with a high skill ceiling so it's too early to base an argument on empiricism. That isn't the issue tho', the problem is games are either ending too fast with too little interaction (Pirate Warrior) or games are turning into solitaire as completing Quests is more important than anything else now (tempo, card advantage, board position or health). Unless you're playing Face Aggro, you have a 1,600 dust buy in for any competitive deck on the ladder and each Quest dictates  to you how you should be building your deck while having a metagame distoring effect.
Team 5 just releases design fuck up after design fuck up and that's why people are bitching and leaving the game, the Quest buy in is especially cynical and until Team 5 gets held responsible for their incompetence the cycle just keeps repeating. I'm truely in awe at how these people still have jobs and why this is the only industry people don't get fired in for fucking up so badly.

Worst meta in the history of Hearthstone, people are still too drunk on "new cards" before they sober up and realize the game has basically turned into a "wait and see" for whether Quest Warrior, Quest Rogue or Quest Mage takes the cake for most uninteractive bull shit deck ever printed. It was really nice of them to delete every control class but Warrior from the game and make it so you have to craft a legendary to play any competitive deck other than face aggro. If this doesn't get Team 5 fired, nothing will.

Honestly I don't see the point of playing this instead of the Mage Quest deck, you struggle to defend yourself vs aggro and the only benefit is that you win faster than they do.

I think it's the worst expansion yet, I didn't get any Quests in my packs so it feels like I have to commit 1600 Dust before I can play any competitive deck in Standard  that isn't "me go face!" and Quests feel like they exist to ruin control as an archetype and build our decks for us. There is nothing you can even do about them really, it makes Undertaker and Mad Scientist look balanced in comparison. I think this is the closest I've been to quitting the game, it's a fire Team 5 level of epic fuck up.
