posted a message on New Druid Rare Card Revealed - Living Seed

Gonk Druid LOVES this.  A really solid, playable card in Standard as well, Druid tends to have powerful cards, and this can help tutor and cheat some of them out.

Maybe cheating mana later matters less, but cheating is cheating, and its always good.

posted a message on 18.4 Patch - Nerfs (Guardian Animals;Tortollan Pilgrim), Elementals in BG & More!

I wonder if they remember that Guardian Animals is a Dual Class card that was already unplayable in Hunter.  Now, even if Hunter had good targets, it could probably never run this.

How is mana even an effective way to nerf a card in Druid?  The class with ramp?

posted a message on The Scholar Jaina Bundle - Containing 5 Special Mage Packs & A New Mage Skin

They could do worse for 10 bucks i guess.  My biggest question is why only 6 days to buy it?  That seems arbitrary, and kinda pointless.

posted a message on Blizzard's current design philosophy

In a way I support this design philosophy in Digital Card Games because they're mostly free and errata can just be applied through patches.  Its a little more frustrating because of the raw power some of these cards have, but i do have a genuine question.

Would you rather them make underwhelming cards that aren't powerful?  As a business trying to get money off of a free game, they need to make purchasing packs with money seem appealing somehow.

Would it be better if the evergreen sets, Basic and Classic, had a higher level of power itself, to balance out new cards entering at this standard?

posted a message on Professor Slate

I don't see this card being very successful this expac.  The current ping spells in Hunter are too weak on their own to run this on the off chance you'll draw both.  Praying that we'll see synergies for this before Rapid Fire rotates.

Not a bad card but Hunter has no coherent theme this expac, this has no synergy with any card released for Hunter this expansion.  Also doesnt even function as a win con, as efficiently removing six minions at best doesn't win you anything, other classes can do better without needing Rick here to enable them, and they have actual win cons.

    Disappointed in this one.

posted a message on Guardian Animals

This is a card that's cleary stronger for Druid than Hunter, Druid can cheat this out really early and has access to deck buffing.

Nonetheless, beast synergies are my favorite thing in Hunter so I'll have to try it in Wild.  Hopefully it gets better with the release of strong Beasts later in the year.

posted a message on Galakrond's Awakening - 4 New Cards Revealed!

I was really hoping that each class that didn't get a Galakrond would get a hero in the Adventure so they could actually have something with that level of power.  Sidequests are comparatively weak imo.

posted a message on Shadows has sparked no deckbuilding joy for me.

I'm excited for Smol Spell Tempo Mage, and Summoner Mage, Murlock Shaman, maybe some control Shaman, I'll try some form of Midrange Hunter, and any kind of Rogue I'm very pumped for.  Thief and Miracle in particular.

posted a message on Final Rastakhan Card Reveal Stream - Live Updates!

I'm seeing a lot of people commenting on how this stream was pretty boring.  I agree to an extent, but I find it funny how this shows that y'all are very difficult to please.  "Day9 is too cringy and tries too hard to be funny"  "Ah jeez this hype stream is so boring bleh".  A big part of me thinks that it's just complaining for the sake of complaining.

I think the issues here are the low number of high impact/legendary cards revealed here, too many were dropped beforehand.  And Dean Ayala just seemed tired, his voice was monotone the entire time and his face never demonstrated any excitement.  He's been interacting with these cards for months, I'm sure he's getting tired of it all now.  Kibler is a talented streamer and Hearthstone player, and his mentality is good for these streams, to see all the new cards.  Brode and Day9 were always excited, laughing, or telling jokes.  Anybody who complains about one or two of them being cringy is just being edgy.  They at least provided excitement.

All around I think this is a good set.  I'll surely experiment with lots of the cards, although I wish the Hunter's Loa was a little more exciting,  I think in the future in regards to streams, they should just reveal fewer legendaries in the interim to make them more interesting substance-wise.  In terms of hosts, there's no point in trying.  Nothing will please anybody.  Personally I hope Thijs makes it onto a reveal stream someday.

posted a message on Hunter will be the new druid.

There will always be one class that seems to dominate ladder.  It's a part of the game, I think.  It's been Druid for the past two or so expansions.  It was Cubelock for a while before that.  Shaman and Warrior Aggro decks before that.  Undertaker seems like so long ago now, and Hunter has been biting the bullet ever since with getting on average sub par cards.  Until now Hunter hasn't been anything higher than like mid tier two or high tier three.

I think it's about time Hunter got some love.  And if I end up playing against a bunch of Hunters this season, then good for me, I've played so much of the class that I'm pretty accustomed, and know how to play against them well.  I actually enjoy Hunter vs Hunter games, it's the control games I always wanted to play but never could.

Basically what I'm saying is, you may be right.  Hunter may become dominant again.  But I don't think it's worth being mad about.  There's always gonna be a "Druidstone" "Shamanstone", and if it turns out to be "Hunterstone" at least with the cards we're getting it doesn't look like it will be aggro.

posted a message on New Hunter Hero Card - Zul'jin

I'm huge into Hunter.  It was my first class I played heavily back when I started and didn't really understand the game that well.  I got Golden Hunter as my first Gold Portrait back in KaC with Cube Hunter.  Control Hunter is a thing now.  It's been a thing for like two expansions.

Yeah Zul'Jin's Hero Power isn't a total thrill ride, but it's hard to top Rexxar's sheer power and creativity.  His Battlecry is insanely powerful, because there's no stopping it.  It can't interrupt itself like Yogg or Tess.  Yeah he's 10 mana, that's fine now.  Y'all are saying "You should win by turn 8 with Hunter".  Deathstalker Rexxar takes games all the way to fatigue, so I don't see why a powerful effect like this is really a trouble at 10 mana.

I can see why the majority is dissapointed.  I was also hoping for something a little more flashy with the Hero Power I guess.  I was thinking maybe a cheaper Hero, an Assassinate-esque battlecry, and a neato hero power that really showed off "the mystical side of the hunt", whatever that meant.  But even though I'm not thrilled, I still think the card has merit.

posted a message on New Rogue Legendary Reveal - Gral, the Shark

There's a lot of talk going around about how Graal is especially weak to silence or transformation.  All of this talk has merit, however, so is Myra, Edwin, Sonya, and Sherazin.  And while no, it isn't a "double loss" for any of the previous cards, dropping a hefty Edwin on turn 3 or 4 can still win you games outright if they don't have an answer.  Because they won't always have an answer, I think Graal will see some play in aggressive Rogue decks that pray to get that hefty boi out early.

And honestly I would say that Edwin is a bigger risk than this card is.  Because with him, you're dumping all the cards in your hand to make him powerful.  If he gets answered, you're stuck without a paddle, and without a big minion.  At least with Graal, he demands an answer by being a big minion, and only costs a single minion in your deck to do so.

I don't think this Shark should be counted out just yet.

posted a message on Rastakhan's Rumble - Complete Card Reveal Schedule

Well, I'm excited that the schedule's finally out!  I'm sure they'll drop some reveals in the meantime with that blog.

Bummed that Day9 isn't in a reveal stream.  I know he's not popular with a lot of the commenters here, but I loved the excitement and energy he brought.  Yeah he messed up a lot, but his priorities on stream were always trying to show off new cards, and have fun.  Personally, I think that was a good mentality.

Looks like there's going to be massive card dumps each day instead of a slower trickle.  All very exciting.  Great art too.

posted a message on Hearthstone Patch - New Classic Cards, Free Packs, Rastakhan's Rumble Pre-Order

Wow that Frostwolves cardback is killer!  Reminds me of my brief stint in WoW hunting for Mounts in Draenor.  Definitely gonna switch to that.

Happy for the Hearthstone team that the game has reached that many players.  And while the difference between active and inactive accounts being considered "players", and the number of alt accounts that exist for single players, it's still a big deal.  I don't see the need to cynically diminish the accomplish, if all it really means for us players is six free packs and 500 free Gold.  There's no real need for that kind of negativity.  For those who wonder why their comments get massively downvoted even though they're simply being "realistic" or "critical", it's probably just because either way, the people reading what you say may simply just see a person bitterly diminishing the accomplishments of others.  Say what you want, but don't be shocked when using a text-exclusive and communicating something basically negative gets you downvoted.

But commentary on the comments section of Hearthpwn aside, I'm sure in one or two days the issues with Golden Cards and PC lag will be addressed or solved.  I've got faith.  The new classic cards are welcome, but it's clear they weren't meant to even closely match the power level of what they replaced, but they're simply designed, and fit well into Timmy decks.  Good for new players, just as they wanted.  Solid work.
