posted a message on This deck is terrible, and other criticisms

A trend that has been happening since the age of deck sharing began.
Player posts a deck that they had a really awesome win rate with and creates a guide to show how they played it.
People from the community play the deck and have different results than the creator.

The people who have good luck (usually) post their success, and even add some alterations that they thought of to improve the deck versus certain circumstances.
The people who have bad luck (usually) post comments like "this deck sucks, this deck is crap, player doesn't know how to build a (class) deck, etc." and don't add any support by explaining what happened or why it did so bad.

If you have an issue with a deck and think it's not performing to the caliber that the Player stated then explain why. Give constructive feedback.
Secondly, this is an open forum, which means a lot of players visit here too, they look for decks that have high win rates. When they see those decks not only do they play them, but they find counters to them as well.
Lastly, there are counters inherently for every deck as well as a learning curve to pilot the deck. If you play  5 games and lose all of them, that is a very shallow pool of games to gauge your skill with the deck vs the list of random players you get.

Coming back to the forums with the intentions of down voting a deck and leaving a comment with no substance just so you can let off some of your frustration against the player who posted the deck. That is just childish and pointless, it doesn't help your cause, it won't make the deck better, it won't increase your chances of winning, and it won't make you look intelligent either.

Be helpful, be insightful, be smart, fix the decks you find interesting by using the community and the forums. This platform is only as powerful and progressive as it's users. So ask yourself, are you someone who can make the game better? Or are you just another angry, salty troll?

posted a message on [Top 300 Legend] OTK Ress Priest

I've run into a issue with early game aggro, pirate rogue, token druid, any deck that can drop 2-3 minions on curve and buff almost always puts me in the red before I can play my first minion.
Other than that issue the deck is fun, there are weaknesses as expected.

posted a message on Mike Donais on Hall of Fame - Malygos, Mind Blast

Curiosity here, is the issue for you specifically Malygos being a neutral minion giving many classes the ability to use/abuse him or is it the +5 spell damage?
I ask for clarification considering if its the aspect of being a neutral minion then there needs to be a look at many many more damage cards that can be used with him to create an OTK.
If it's the +5 Spell damage then it only needs to be lowered however there needs to be compensation, decrease cost, +1dmg, +2hp just something for compensation if the spell damage is nerfed.
Both of these points can be done without HoFing him.

On that note as well, I find it interesting that Mind Blast has such a large voice against it and no other spell damage card is brought up.
I get that for some people the cost vs damage output is problematic, however, if you compare the niche that it fills it falls short in comparison to every other spell damage card out there that can fill the same roll.
If its due to the ability to copy the spell and have multiples for burn, lets talk about rogues who can do it as well, many many more times than priest. Or mage that has more options to get copies of their spells than priest does.

The arguments with Malygos and Mind Blast are very polarized. Either its "I got cheated by gimmick priest OTK HoF them" or it's "without gimmick priest OTK it's not a problem don't HoF them". I am writing this while collecting more info for a lengthier post that will try to highlight and compare the situation for good or bad.

At this point however the developers have chosen to not HoF them, I would suggest that if you have a valid and data driven point for or against these cards, start making your case now. I intend to show how there are more cards out there that should be looked at due to interactions with Malygos that seem to be overlooked, These cards can equal or exceed Mind Blast with this interaction.
Once that information is gathered, perhaps then the community can show the developer team how much work needs to be done in order to balance the game from the ground up.

Basic and Classic should not be disappearing due to HoF they should instead be the basis of the game allowing old and new players alike to have multiple creative opportunities because they are multi-purpose and specified to a class identity. If done properly then they will constantly compliment each new release and season.

Yea, it feels terrible to lose to a turn 9-10 turn combo deck that's based off multiple cards and RNG. It feels so much better to be hit in the face till death by turn 5-6 from aggro decks.

Priests class identity is not face damage according to Donais, ok. But what is priests identity?

Is it healing, theft, class copying, buffs, minion cheating/copying?

Every aspect that a priest brings to the game is sub-par compared to other class identities. There are cards that really shine and make priest a power house with gimmick decks that the community hates - Kazakus priest, big priest, wall priest, spell priest, silence priest, OTK priest.

The reason the community hates these decks is because we take what little identity priest has and we meme the hell out of it to a point where there is little to no interaction, and rely on big swing RNG.

Before the core identity of priest is called into question for what cards need to be HoF'd perhaps we need to call attention to what the actual identiy of priest is first.

I have to agree I like data too. And thank you for point this out for the public who doesn't take the time to look.

But I also like common sense.

Common sense tells me that this is a corporation run e-sport, e-trading card game. They created it to make a profit.

The idea that they make changes to cards in order to manipulate the flow of cash seem like common sense. Not some sort of hidden agenda or conspiracy theory.

posted a message on Poll: Is Priest overpowerd?

Asking if priest is over powered when on the front page of Hearthpwn paladin/hunter/warlock (rogue) show up daily with 50% wr. I don't think I've seen priest on that list more than 3 times for a couple hours.

I play priest consistently on ladder, yea the games where you loose seem like the decks(class)  are over powered, but if you look at the over all play style it is mostly RNG fiesta or OTK.

I play for fun rather than to get to that rank 5+ status, with that said I can play 20 games one day I will win 5 of them, another day I'll win 10, and another day I get no love and win none. This goes with most decks out there.

posted a message on Archmage Velen OTK

There are decks that can defeat this. That being said this is only one variant of the Velen+Maly OTK deck. This is not the best nor is it the worst version of this deck. Considering you can get 80 damage to face with this deck there should be some chance to still take out armor warriors. Again though there are times where you get no love from RNG.

Holy Smite vs Divine Hymn - if you are getting matched against a bunch of odd warriors then by all means swap them in favor of what you need to win. There is no one version beats all when it comes to Velen OTK, adjust as needed.

As for noting the mulligan guide, I hadn't actually written one up when I made this original post, and you are the first to ask about it. I will start working on that today and get it posted as soon as I can.

Thank you for taking the time to look this over and commenting.

posted a message on Mind Blast

Kissme - I have a simple question. One that I don't seem to recall you commenting on but I may be mistaken.

What constructive advice do you have on how to nerf Mind Blast so that it is fair?

Also if Mind Blast is a combo enabler as you stated, what other cards does it combo with to OTK other than Malygos and/or Prophet Velen?

For those of you who agree that OTK priest is a deck that should be nerfed or otherwise restricted, what other OTK decks out there should be nerfed or restricted as well? If you only believe that priest is the black sheep that should be targeted, then I would speculate you are thinking from the victim mentality.

Before vilifying cards for nerfs, check the facts, bring data, show the proof and be constructive. Show positive change for a negative situation.

    posted a message on Interaction

    Hearthstone interaction:
Type one looks like - Player plays a card, effects happen that change the state of their board or their hand or their deck.
Type two looks like - Player plays a card, effects happen that change the state of enemies board, hand or deck.
This is playing with yourself, the opponent can't do anything about this "actively" the only thing that can happen here is "Passive" effects such as traps or minions with death rattle/ enter field effects.
Hearthstone is all about "passive" interaction or interacting with a state-based field.

    MTG interaction:
Type one looks like - Player 1 plays a card, effects happen that change the state of their board or their hand or their deck. At any time one of these things happen Player 2 can play a card to alter the effect of Player one's action as long as they have a card to do so.
Type two looks like - Player plays a card, effects happen that change the state of enemies board, hand or deck. At any time one of these things happen Player 2 can play a card to alter the effect of Player one's action as long as they have a card to do so.
This is playing with an opponent, the opponent can "actively" interact with what is happening in addition to "passive" effects that may be present.

Interaction is both an "active" and "passive" function in games. From what I can gather from posts like this is, there are some players within the Hearthstone community that would like to see a more "active" form of interaction within the game.
