posted a message on Why don't pros use aggro/face decks in tournaments?

Like everyone said the pros do use aggressive deck it just comes down to several factors: 1) Preference- Some players may feel comfortable playing a slower deck than something very aggressive. 2) When in a tournament setting you have to figure out the meta game of that tournament and try and pick the best decks that will take advantage of it. Now with different tournament rules comes different strats at picking these counters, but with the recent ESL Legendary series tournament it is very close to ladder because the first 3 matches were randomly selected out the of the players 3 decks. The point is if you think people are going to bring aggressive decks you bring something to counter it, like Priest, but this is when the game gets deep. Now, you have to think about players choosing Handlock and countering the people playing anti-aggro decks and so-on. In essence the best decks are the ones that are very good across the board, like Druid, Pally, Handlock and Warrior. The ESL tournament would be hard for true counter picks, like Hunter to work, because you cannot choose a specific deck to combat another.

Idk if I rambled too much or if that made sense at all.

posted a message on Higher level advice

Usually, there is more control and mid-range decks at ranks 10+, but the meta does change a lot at ranks 5+, the majority of matches are mid-range/control. That does not mean you will not face aggro so you just have to make a meta call and tech your deck for what you are mainly facing (coming from an MTG background you know this) but just stick to 1-2 decks, usually that do not share the same weaknesses. TBH the real games do not start until rank 5. That is when the real grind comes in.

I cannot tell you how to win more, but I can tell you how not to get frustrated and go on a tilt. If you lose 2-3 games in a row just take a break and watch some Vids/streams/friends and relax and go back in after a few minutes. You do not want to get burnt out.

posted a message on Need help on my budget Mage deck

Your deck has a good bit of mechs in it. You may want to look at building a Mech-mage deck. It is very cheap and I believe that the most expensive cards in the deck are 2 Azure Drakes, which you have, 2 Goblin Blastmages and 2 legendaries, this varies but Loatheb and Dr.Boom, also Antonidas can be included or replace one. But the legendaries are optional and can be replaced by any good threat. Most of that deck is commons though. My advice is to save some gold and hit the arena. I believe if you get 4-5 wins in arena you will make your money back and maybe a little bit more. It is just the best way for players on a budget to get cards.

posted a message on Black Knight no go in current meta?

It is still good because most control decks run belcher but there are a lot of aggro and mid-range decks who do not run it so I think it is a preference and a meta call

posted a message on Handlock Nerf Soon?

All of Warlocks class cards suck generally and Shadowflame is no exception. It requires you to have a creature on board and stick and then you sac it to do AOE damage. If you are behind and cannot get a board it is a turn 6 card with Ancient watcher.

From what I have been reading you have a really closed mind about this deck. The reason this deck is so good now is because of Ancient healbot it closes up the holes in its game against very aggressive decks. Dr. Boom is just helps in Midrange and Control matchups. There is no need to nerf an entire deck and it hurts the game more to do so. Look at miracle that archetype is probably dead unless someone finds a way to bring it back. I do agree with nerfing gadgetzan because he limits game design. I do not see anything in handlock that does that. The only card I see that may need a nerf in this set is Dr. Boom, and not by much just make the bombs do 2 damage to a random enemy and it is good.

Handlock is not invincible...Shaman and Hunter are basically counters to the deck. Then Warrior, Druid and Pally can beat it fairly easy as well.

Druids choose one mechanic, is pretty complex but i think that Bolvar Fordragons mechanic is the most unique and complex

posted a message on No Velen - Shadow Priest worth it? + Help me fix up some decks please!

I do not think that the Aggro Priest archetype is fully fleshed out yet, and you may have to wait for the next expansion to see anymore love for that archetype. I love the idea of shadowform but right now it is a little too slow and maybe with other expansions it will be good. If you want a faster Priest deck try Deathrattle Priest or maybe Mech Priest. These decks are not as fast as aggro, it is more Mid-Ranged/Aggro-Control. They are pretty good and fun as well.

This deck uses Blood Knight to become a very big threat and it preforms well. There is another version where you take out blood knight and some of the divine sheild minions for Knife Jugglers and harvest golems, and some other options

Also I think that Pally a very strong deck right now. From the tourneys I have seen it is very dominant in a lot of games and match-ups. There are a couple of deck options you can go with, but the best ones are the mid-range versions. I can make two decks real quick that are similar to decks I have seen. I would look on hearthpwn for deck ideas

From what I have seen, he is alright. I would dust it for the second Quatermaster because QM does more. Bolvar can be a nice surprise but he can be replaced by another good threat. The second QM is a must, Bolvar is optional.

posted a message on Is BGH must in control Warrior deck? What do you think?
    Quote from chrisksy »

I'm thinking of +1shield block, -1 BGH from Sjow's current deck in this website. Think 2 shield blocks makes smoother transitions and card advantage. Has anyone run +2 shieldblocks, (+2whirkwinds), and no BGH, and found it okay?

TBH it is a meta-call, you need to decide if you need the BGH or a better way to take on aggro, whether it is removal or health gain. I also think that having both sheildblocks are good because it helps in so many match-ups and makes sheild slam more consistent. If you are running into more aggro keep the 2x Whirlwinds in or cut one for a cleave. If you are facing more control/midrange, put the BGH in for a whirlwind. For warrior you already have great ways to remove huge targets, bgh just makes the match-ups more in your favor. So it is not a huge missing piece against control decks, it is just nice to have.

I think that BGH is a really bad card for the game and in the top10 worst designed cards there is.
It heavily encourages lottery-style games. It seems to be the number1 philosophy of the designers, to make everything "exciting" by making it all random and swingy. Morons.

But there is not anything random about BGH, it is the most direct card in the game. It is a meta call and gives classes that lack good removal, like Druid a way to take down some threats they otherwise could not. If you play against aggro you have a sub-par minion that can trade for a 1-for-1. I really do not understand what you mean by lottery-style games either.

You could use Jeeves, that is what I have been using so far. It provides another target for Powermace and from what I have experienced you can have an empty hand by turn 5-7.

So I am not going to test this for awhile because I am going to try and reach legend rank this month because I have some free time and I am going to use what is working for me right now.

Lmk if there should be some changes.

    posted a message on Demonlock

So the problem I am having with your build wolfyop is that is seems to not have an identity. It looks like a blend of Handlock, Zoo and some Demon synergy in the build. The problem with Demonlock is that you are going to sacrifice some options that Handlock and Zoo have, like huge threats consistently by turn 4 or overwhelming board control with early game, to have the combo of voidcaller into huge threat.

I would remove the falling: Twilight Drake, this is not what you want to be doing in demonlock, it is going to be weaker, in general in this deck than a Handlock deck, on top of that you have no taunt givers. Abusive Sergeant, this is a strange choice, it can be used with egg but it would be better to replace it for some early game. Demonfire, in general this card is sub-par, you have a limited amount of demons you can use it with and even the buff is not great, maybe adding Demonheart would be better and having Mistress of Pain as well. I have not tested those 2 cards so i do not know if that is consistent enough.

I would add more early game and taunt givers. This will help against aggro decks a lot, but it would make you late game slightly weaker. I also suggest adding Jaraxxus he can win games by himself.
