I don't think so. Rank 5 is very easy to get at the end of the season. Legend is the only rank one should aim for.
However I think there should be some kind of quest/achievement gold rewards for reaching rank 20,15,10,5 and Legend to create a feeling of progress for new players.
With the announcement of the Rainbow Themed card backs for achieving Rank 20 in competitive play this Season I highly doubt that I'll be getting to legendary any time soon unless my deck suddenly gets better. I'm finding it hard to work hard on progressing further in ranked play. I'm thinking there might be some other options for ranked rewards such golden cards or a specific legendary for achieving rank 5 or maybe a Golden 'Rainbow' card back adopting the same golden trend that hero's and cards follow. What is everyone else's thought and ideas.
As I sent my heavy Druid deck into another match against a Shaman I dreaded seeing my Ragnaros or Cairne Bloodhoof be turned into a worthless frog Hex, but as this match continued I quickly realized that he had plenty of other spells to render my strategy ineffective. Now I'm all for Hero specific specials or spell centered strategy don't get me wrong but it seems as though my 6 or 7 mana cost minions are being neutered by an unending array of Removal Spells that cost a measly 2 or 3 mana. Is this the meta and is there no way around it until it changes? Or I doomed from ever gaining rank? Or is there a minor adjustment that can be made to make things a little more balanced?
Depends a lot on your style of play and what your deck might be missing. If you're lacking in heavy damage then Ragnoros or any other finishing legendary would suffice. Unless you have a major whole in your deck for a specific epic or rare I would bite the bullet and craft a legendary. Eventually you'll make it back to 1600 dust and have an even better understanding of what you need.
A lot of times I take a break. Check Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, or work on quests and leveling up my other hero's. I relate it to Basketball, Teams use this strategy a lot when the other team begins a streak, they'll take a timeout, reorganize, and get their minds straight. I do this a lot and it helps me come back a win streak nearly every time.
I was definitly having the same issues until I adjusted my Taunt Heavy Druid deck. The Meta Game does shift when you get up up there. Use every loss as a lesson. What cards did he play that rendered yours innefective? Also what cards are that you could replace yours with to combat that? Being sensitive to everpresent change is critical in such an up and down game.

Any ideas on what would be acceptable?

Yeah I know that of that. That's what I'm saying. There seems to plenty of removal for those and for my heavy hitters.

I agree with irons182. You're not using cards that you own so your card specific accomplishments wouldn't slave over. Although it would be cool.

As long as you make sure what you craft is versatile enough to use in multiple situations you should be okay.

And then another Legendary would make your decks even stronger.
