I always say if you can make it from rank 5 to 4 you can make it to legend. You will face the same decks from this point. Players are often blinded because they make it to rank 5 so easily. Getting to rank 5 is nothing because you get the win streak stars. The real game starts after rank 5 and you will need to devote time into climbing.
The arena coin idea was thrown around before but they are firm at making sure newer players get GvG packs by default. The option would be great but we all know Blizzard wants to make collecting cards as tedious as possible by making you purchase classic packs.
I tpyically never play mage in arena. This deck didn't seem that good but the power cards like flamestrike carried it. Unstable portals are insanely good. This is my 3rd 12 win victory, and the rewards were good.
The heroes of the deck were the 4 Webspinner's. There was a match where they supplied 2 King Krush's in a single hand. 3 Animal Companion's was generally too much for the opponents to handle. Gadgetzan Auctioneer had a lot of card draw with low cost spells. Overall it was a very good constructed quality deck. The final reward was only gold... rather disappointing.
That is just crazy. I opened a pack a few days ago that had 3 rares, 1 epic and 1 legendary and i thought that was rare. On top of that you got powerful and useful legendaries, i am just blown away.
I can understand the changes to Leeroy. It will still be a good card just slightly less so. The changes to buzzard is just outrageous though with the cost going up by 3 mana and only adding +1/+1. The reason why you see so many hunters and locks is because the decks are affordable and effective. It's not like you are going to see a more intermediate player running around with a handful of legendaries to play as a warrior or druid.
It is also worth mentioning how the nerfs effect UTH, especially against control decks that don't dump their legendaries until the later turns. Having Leeroy was decent at getting more use out of UTH and having the burst to finish off your opponent. Overall the changes will completely change the meta as it brings down hunter and miracle rogue dramatically.
The new meta will definitely have more zoo lock than we see now as it will remain the affordable and effective option. If you think it is bad now, wait until these changes hit. I would expect to see them 90% of the time on ranked. Hunter was a good counter to zoo locks, now locks will have free reign. This will also bring back hand locks. I wonder if the nerfs are really worth it, as they just tilt the imbalances into the other direction.
I personally believe that if you can get from rank 5 to 4 you can definitely get Legend. You are doing this without the winstreak bonuses and you will face exactly the same decks from ranks 5 to 1. You just have to keep playing and not dwell on the losses.
The data definitely seems accurate, but i swear when i take long breaks from Hearthstone my unpacks are a lot better. After my last break i got either a legendary or epic from 5 packs in a row. When i play regularly there is usually nothing of note.

I have only opened 5 packs so far because the shop and arena is closed. Nothing too fancy but a cool golden.

I was a bit surprised to see this, but it's not official yet so just keep that in mind. 3 free packs and 1 arena pass is very generous.
