DatMageDoe posted a message on Apprentice is torturePosted in: General Discussionhow can you know its a bot?
For Blizzard bots, there's a number of ways to tell:
- They always use Battlenet default usernames which follow the "AdjectiveNoun" approach, such as "FunkyPants" or "SneakyTurtle."
- They take their turns very quickly, just like the bosses in Adventures/Dungeon Runs.
- Their decks use the Deck Recipes viewable in the crafting window - specifically the "Core" deck and the lists which only use old expansion cards.
- They often make weird or mis ordered plays, such as buffing one of your minions with a stat buff or attacking before playing a board buff.
- They are mostly visible at lower MMRs in Ladder, such as Silver and below.
- They are not visible in the "Recent Players" tab after the game is finished.
Player ran bots have a number of different tells as well:
- Their names are often gibberish or incomprehensible such as "xlhghtgbby" or barcodes, though this is far from a uniform rule.
- They take their turns very slowly, and regularly rope out.
- They play extremely one dimensional swarm aggro decks which can be built cheaply. Common examples include questless Pirate Warrior, Pirate Rogue, or Unholy DK.
- Sometimes these bots just spam Hero Power every turn and do nothing else, especially if the Hero Power is untargeted such as Shaman or Warrior.
- Sometimes these bots can lose a whole turn due to you playing one of the "Suspicious" cards such as Suspicious Usher or Suspicious Alchemist.
- These bots are almost always found in Wild and other lower population modes, typically at the lower rings of MMR (though sometimes a bot can climb to Legend purely by chance and people conceding to them).

Mitman93 posted a message on Been playing the game since 2013 beta - 1st time bitching about the meta. Tell me with a straight face that Dislock is balancedPosted in: Wild FormatSo right off that bat - I play this game for fun. That's it. I don't care about climbing competitively; that's why I'm playing wild. So before I get flamed for "being a sore loser" or told to "just git gud noob" or whatever, no. I don't care about losing. Never have, never will. Nowadays I literally just play one homebrew deck I occasionally tweak from time to time FOR FUN. I don't fuck with netdecks. Ever. So obviously I expect my winrate to not be stellar, and I don't mind. I'm silver 2, ya'll. Usually climb to gold 1 or so. Never have given a single fuck about rank. If it was a fun back and forth game, that's genuinely all I care about.
Which brings me to the thread topic: Dislock. Of all the years I've played this game this has got to be the most uninteractive 0-skill metadeck cancer I have ever witnessed infest the ladder to such a degree. Bruh. My last 8 matches - 8 were dislock. Yes. 8. In a row. And yes. I lost them all. I swear to Christ I am not one to bitch and moan about the meta. Namely because usually when something is overpowered in Wild, at least I can say "ah well - ggwp! we go next" and then I get to have fun again for 4 to 5 matches before I have to endure it again. But uh. Going next this time around just means fucking auto-losing turn 4 for the 7th time in a row :DI don't even know how they can fix it tbh. Slight nerf to Tiny Knight, Wicked Whispers, or Expired Merchant maybe? Idk. The entire deck as a whole just synergizes far too well. Insane burst damage. Insane zoo. Insane value. No matter the game state, no matter cards in hand, they seem to always have an out. Just hoping something comes soon so I can play the game again - would be dope.

mulluk posted a message on Apprentice is torturePosted in: General DiscussionI stopped playing daily long ago, so im only gold right now. Two days ago i only had blizzard bots for a whole hour. When i create an own deck, i want to test it against players and not calculated bots. So i conceded every time i got matched against a blizzard bot. For a FULL hour!
*click play*
*wait for match*
*match starts, check for bot*
*concede*
*repeat*
As i said, for a FULL hour not a SINGLE human player. I quit and played smth else.

NovaFrost posted a message on New Warrior Cards Revealed - 4 CardsPosted in: NewsAre you on crack?
Titan is mediocre, one of the worst. Minotauren is a worse Underking, Trial by Fire is a worse Flipper Friends lol, the weapon is horrible and has no synergy with the 8 mana legendary-do-nothing-the-turn-íts-played, which is also a bad card that forces you to run other bad armor cards in your deck for a mediocre payoff.
Furious Furnace is a worse Hollow Hound that requires previous board state to do anything. Bellowing Flames is a worse Star Power. Smelt is a worse Chorus Riff
Steam Guardian has an ok chance of seeing play in Enrage Warrior, I'll give you that.
The only outstanding card warrior got is Stoneskin Armorer
There is no reason to reply with reason to any of these bots zombies. They will dislike anything factual that has a spark of "negativity" in it. Waste of time, let them enjoy gold 3.

Kids' game = rng fest because they need to sell it and kids are incapable of higher strategies. So everything boils down to flashy images and randomness. Indeed, this is the game and has been for a while. Quit spending money on it and try others that actually make brains evolve.
1
Why so harsh? :( OP made a decent contribution, spent a lot of time on it, and it's not bad actually. The fact that this game has gone to shit due to the toilet-playing teenagers is one of the reasons why cards like these don't see play. The other reason is the incompetent and greedy design team. Bad legendaries make you spend more money to have a chance at the good ones.

Can it really be since 2014 that i enjoyed playing HS?! ;)

Bad, like most of the game. Try Classic

Like i said above, it's a response to blizzard leaving China => many players from there decided to bot out of spite or whatever.
1
Since blizzard is no longer in china, i guess chinese hackers finally found a way to "crack" this game in a way that they are not easily found out (yet). It's probably a spite move. The company from china "spilling" some specific data that made the game easier to bot.
At least blizzard's greed needs to have consequences. Definitely not enough, but it's a start.

It's very easy to make the system be aware of probing it. Remeber, you are using ONE account each time you play.
System: "hey, this account faced 80% of my scripted decks in the last 50 games. It's getting obvious. Lets change back to either true pseudorandom or simply the negated scripting (i.e. don't face decks with certain cards)"
Player: "hmm, i've had 50 games that seemed to be against scripted opponents. But the next 10 were all over the place, and it continued to be like this for a while. Hmm, must've been an unlucky randomness streak with a 0.00001% chance. Nevermind, it happens, blizzard would never do this anyway".
System: "gottem. No big data website is gonna find out. Now let's reset the time variable for this account (yea, the variable that determines - after how many days of playing and/or being offline and/or matches played reached a certain number since the last script run - how often this scripted matchmaking should run)"
It's funny how easy it is to implement something like this, which doesn't even need to be complicated.

I am so sorry for everyone still playing HS. LoL

HS is nothing special.
Every game can pass the test of time when:
- people are lured into it for different reasons and with different strategies
- they are encouraged to keep spending
- their stupid brains don't realize it's a trick to keep you invested so you never stop playing
- the target audience seems to be kids of at most 24 years of age. Yes, they are kids. Men grow up at around 26-28. A 24 year-old male is rarely a grown-up person with respect to life and choices (i.e. there are always exceptions but that's not the point).
- netdecking is amplifying all of the above
Smart moves from blizzard? Sure. Immoral much? Definitely. Does "immoral" make lots of money? Oh yea baby, let it flow. Should we do something about it? Definitely. Why don't we? Because we are too stupid or suffering from a god complex. What's that??? When the game's whales need to feel powerful or like they matter in this world, they spend their very-easily-earned money on this game. But isn't it their right? Of course, but it also shows how "smart" they are and why things never change in this world.
Meanwhile, the homeless guy you see every day on your way to the bank, to retrieve your 1million$ pocket money, has almost froze to death because he can't afford a ride to the nearest shelter.
PS: i'm waiting for the world to have matter replicators so we won't require money anymore, for almost anything. No one starves to death, no one lacks basic clothing etc. An economy without money and based on research and self fulfilment is the best humanity has to offer. Too bad it's gonna be an utopia for a good while due to greed and power. Technically we are not that far from it - quantum mechanics and computing is the first step.
Nice thread.
