I can attest to many unexpected wins on my part due to not conceding. Whether it be my opponent bluffing lethal, or a gracious opponent who will concede to me even with his own lethal on board. It happens quite a lot actually (depending on what deck you are playing for sure), and it always feels good to share the love. Most of my friends list was made this way.
Sometimes I'll get a bit salty and hit that concede when I see that they are not that type of opponent, but oh well. Mostly I just let them finish me off, especially because they may be trying to complete a quest and why not let them do it.
I haven't played any Shaman versions, but Paladin has typically always been very strong, either as aggro or as a sort of combo with Anyfin. Paladins are very versatile with the archetype, but Shamans seem to be purely about face. Even the Paladin aggro version is more board control-y, kinda like a zoo deck. They also have refill capabilities with Divine Favor, where Shaman's draw spells don't do as much work.
On the first day, it is calm and quiet. The pillar is steadfast, retaining its size. On the second winds howls. By a single unit, the pillar does rise. The third day is a downpour. Two units more is the pillar's prize
If you consider that the single unit can be the size of the pillar on the first day, it can be Scaled Nightmare
The first day (it is played), it is steady at 2 attack
The second day, it growns by 2 (equal to initial attack, so 1 unit)
The third day, it growns by 4 (twice the initial attack, so 2 unitis)
This was my initial thought as well, even before reading your post!

Is it really such an inconvenience to play 3 Tavern Brawls?

Stop walking into Defile, silly. It's fine if you make them set it up, but don't do it for them.
Equality doesn't care about anything except Divine Shield.
