For the purpose of the example it doesn't matter. Could have said Murloc Tinyfin instead. It's all about manipulating your chances of getting better cards on curve. The poster didn't know what thinning was, could have used Secret Paladin as another example. So don't be so damn ignorant.
Turn 10. Your opponent is on 6 hp, no taunt minions, no secrets, nothing that could stop you winning this turn. You're on 1 hp, the opponent has a full board. You draw a card, hoping for anything to deliver that burst damage to win. Who do you draw? Patches. Wow. GG. Concede.
The next card in your deck? Leeroy Jenkins himself.
Patches would've been pretty useful at the start of the game (Especially if he was pulled from your deck for free). Leeroy wouldn't have been though. Clogging up your hand.
So, by the process of thinning your deck, with that first pirate you play, you're getting more bang for your buck with a 1/1 pirate, who can charge. Great synergy too. And at the same time you reduce the risk of pulling a dead card in your later turns. And with a deck of this speed you want every turn and every mana crystal to be used to its maximum potential.
Aye, good point, I was picking Living Roots more to combat aggro decks, killing off a couple of Leper Gnomes etc, before the opposing player gets too much value out of them can make a big difference.
If you want this game to go on long enough to be able to actually get C'Thun out, then survival against aggro decks is paramount, Living Roots will help. :)
Can't wait for this to be released! So hyped for it!

Okay, imagine this scenario:

I can't wait to see the golden animation for this card, I'm loving the darker theme of this new expansion!

I'm hoping Cairne becomes relevant again. Pretty solid drop, though a silence target. Ramp Druid could include him.

Because they're slightly less powerful than the GVG/Naxx cards, making every other card a consideration. :)

Only need 5000 dust to craft <cries>

Would have preferred a neutral, non-Old God legendary revealed. Desperate to see more cards though! Next month can't come quick enough.

I'll be making this day one. Though I'll be swapping Darnassus Aspirant for Living Roots :)

Thanks man, might just have to craft Bloodmage Thalnos when I have enough dust, he's pretty damn good and a classic card to boot!
