I actually see things like this as proof that the game has a personality. I was never a MtG player, but I am trying out their 2015 iPad app. It's fun, but it's SO bland by comparison. So I say, bring on the humor and keep it fun.

Aye, I suppose I would prefer this over blandness...

Well, considering the stench my OP has created, I am having second thoughts as to whether this discussion is necessary anymore. I would like to have it deleted, if you are in consensus with this?

Idk, maybe I'll write about my thoughts in greater detail next time...

Have you not read the card flavor text for most of the cards? The layer of cheese was spread on this game long ago, not just with Naxx.

That was exactly the point I was going to make. The flavour was always there, in the flavour card text, in the tooltips while loading stuff, in the completely over the top Innkeeper VO's. It was allready there all along, and Naxx just continues that path.

It's more obvious now, it's true cause of the VO's being used and the text they chose to indicate your progression, but really fi this comes as a surprise you really haven't been paying attention much to the game.

Well I knew the flavor was there... it just wasn't as strong until that moment, and it was at that point I felt I needed to say something... but for the life of me, I just was never hit with a pun so hard.

So I'm not trying to express surprise, rather, I am expressing my discombobulation (for lack of a better word).

Ah, that is true... but the cheesiness wasn't in the gameplay until Naxx.

i would have liked a more serious environment, like in the real naxxramas. I wonder why they chose for this comic style funny experience.

If anything, I would appreciate a setting at which you can change the tone of the dialogue, but hell will I ever see something like that...

I kind of miss the Tutorial's stance on its humor, that was, perhaps, more memorable than Naxxramas.

So, uh, after defeating Heigan the Unclean... he says, of all things, "I should have taken a shower."

    I... I needed a moment after that...

I don't even know if I should complain, but... this kind of confirms my fear for the rest of this Hearthstone Adventure, at which I expect more puns and dialogue written for children. Am I playing a kiddy game?... because I never got the impression until Curse of Naxxramas came out.

Oy, I really wish I could appreciate the puns, but that last pun was just my undoing. I still have not recovered from that, and neither has my sack of gold.

...maybe I'm taking Hearthstone too seriously.

Hi Cpt_Corn.  Welcome to the Warlock sub-forum.  Pac-man is offering you sound advice.  I second his advice to pick a direction for crafting your deck, and working towards that end.

If you don't mind unlocking Naxx with cash, you would see a better return on your gold investment by converting the gold to cards.  If you enjoy arena, it has the potential to unlock more dust/cards than just buying them with gold does.  The caveat to playing arena being you are betting on yourself to win at least 3 games before you lose 3.   If you are really new, you may prefer to just purchase the packs outright and build your collection.

I hope this helps.  Feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

Hmm... I'm always wary about spending money on a F2P game, never done it before... but for Naxx, it's a 50-50 that I might. Personally, I might use that money to try out Scrolls, which is another online card game I'm eager to play. Otherwise, I would definitely like to spend my gold on arena for more arena-oriented experience and cards. I often get 3 wins in arena, but haven't gotten more than that yet... to which I am also aware that 3 wins is the minimum needed to make it an equal investment in gold.

And lately, I have been trying out Pacman's deck... making tweaks to it that may solve a certain lack of utility that resulted to some lost games. But... like I have done before... it seems the more tweaks I make, the worse it gets. So, I really need to understand what it means to stick towards a certain direction with my deck. Other than that, I've been getting some strong wins... but I could still use some more cards.

I'm also thinking that I should add a Youthful Brewmaster to this deck... since I've been successful pulling off combos with it before. Very nice to have, in my opinion... and I usually prefer them over Acidic Oozelings.

Yea... the reason my deck lacks direction is because I had the mentality of wanting to be original and experiment with things on my own... hopefully learning something along the way, rather than looking up zoo or handlock and just copying it. But instead, I've been more lost than anything, and only being left with hints... so my perspective on learning this game needs to be more encompassing.

So I'll give your deck a shot sometime, thanks for the advice. I greet you.

Well, I'll post you the cards that I have acquired besides the basic ones (assuming I don't have that many)... and we can work from there.

Warlock: 2x Power Overwhelming, 2x Blood Imp, 2x Demonfire, 2x Shadowflame, 2x Summoning Portal, 2x Siphon Soul

Neutral: 1x Bloodsail Corsair, 2x Leper Gnome, 1x Young Dragonhawk, 1x Amani Berserker, 1x Ancient Watcher, 1x Bloodsail Raider, 2x Faerie Dragon, 1x Ironbeak Owl, 1x Youthful Brewmaster, 1x Emperor Cobra, 2x Jungle Panther, 2x Ancient Brewmaster, 1x Dark Iron Dwarf, 1x Defender of Argus, 1x Fen Creeper, 1x Frost Elemental, 1x Molten Giant

But I suppose I should also post my decklist... at least the one that has worked for me the most in the past:

    Gul'Dan (Starting Deck)
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (20) Ability (10)

posted a message on Having trouble with Warlock

Lately, I've been struggling a lot as a Warlock... and that is to say, I am trying to make the use of what class cards that I have, along with some of neutral cards I've unlocked. Not to mention, trying to save gold for Naxxramas is quite painful, when I know I need more cards.

I see that for my class, there is not a lot of room for domination like there is in other classes. Power Overwhelming is the only buff-oriented card that I have, while my other class spells are for removal and board control. If anything, I win the most with Hunter, Paladin, or Rogue, and that's just with their basic cards (I've turned every card that isn't Warlock or Neutral to dust... which I think was a bad idea in the long-term).

But anyways... I'm feeling very weak in this class, and that might be because I am missing something... seeing how most of my wins are within near-death. I do PowerOverwhelming-Brewmaster combos, and (very rarely) PowerOverwhelming-Shadowflame combos... using whatever utility I have in store and making sure my deck is not understocked with minions... making mindful removals when using Soul Siphon, and, of course, Blood Imps are nice. But, aside from the Void Terrors that I don't have, there is really not much I can do to overwhelm my opponent like other classes are able to... they have all the buffs and secrets while I only have one buff (and, I guess, Demonfire).

So, should I just spend my 1100 gold on arena, save it on Naxxramas, or do something with the cards that I have?

Poor animation you say? Take a look at the golden Oasis Snapjaw!

But yeah, it was one of the first golden expert cards I saw and it did look mesmerizing.
Btw, off topic, the award for the most flavorful animation goes to the Summoning Portal.

    Gawd, that was unexpected.

Hmm... the Summoning Portal does have a decent animation, but if y'know me... I stay away from gold as a Warlock.

Does it irritate you as much as the golden warlock cards...?

Well, I never said that the golden knife juggler was irritating... I was just mesmerized by its animation, for lack of a better word at the time.

With regard to golden Warlock cards... my discontent towards them is not in the animation, but the gold theme of it all not blending well with a Warlock's dark persona.

I had a strange moment where my opponent ended his turn with a Golden Knife Juggler on an empty field, the first my eyes have seen. For almost a minute, I stared at that lone minion's animation... to where I was taken back by the flickering of that green dagger, and I just could not do anything. Instead, I was searching for an emote that would express my discombobulation, but there was no escape. I do not remember how my turn ended.

I don't know what came over me... perhaps I was awestruck by the potentially poor or strange animation, or I was overtly distracted by that bright, flashing green dagger. Something's up with that Golden Knife Juggler, and it's not RNG.
