posted a message on How unbalanced was Dh? answer: Yes
    Quote from FlyingCarrot >>

Come on, it was pretty obvious. Dh being the most powerful class in the whole entire game even after getting nerfed, nerfed, nerfed and nerfed, is soo unbelievably dumb.

I think dh could possibly finally become lesser used class.

Yes, it was obvious that the Demon Hunter base set was overtuned. It was not only obvious, but actually intended. Don’t be fooled and think these DH nerfs were spontaneous and unexpected - they were mapped out and planned ahead by the release of DH.

This was the only way. If you release a new class and keep the power level of their base set at the level of the other classes, it would be at a huge disadvantage due to missing historical sets that the other classes have access to. Therefore, the best approach was to overtune the base set, and as we get closer to a new expansion with more cards to bolster DH, slowly bring the power level of the base set down.

I’m not sure what anyone expected here.

    Quote from CallmeChilli >>

If you stop, when you bonus stars end, it means that the next season you'll get 1 Star less.

How does this work for 11 star bonus. You get bonus all the way to legend so when reaching legend what do you need to do to maintain it. Assuming you have a high ish win rate all along. ?

even if you have 11 start: you'll have 2 bonus stars at Platinum 10 - 5. but they all will dissapear from Platinum 5 - onwards
if they just reach legend, they'll have 10 stars next season. if they got to like top 1500 legend = 11 stars

so even with 11 stars you have to grind 5 ranks with no bonus stars (as everybody) + the grind at legend, if you want to maintain your Bonus for next season

That’s not correct. With 11 stars you will have 2 stars for the diamond 5 to legend bracket.

Edit: wrote platinum, obviously meant diamond

posted a message on My problem with this game....
OP, I get how you feel. HS Is an incredibly expensive game. Some people have managed to stay F2P but they probably spend several hours a day playing to complete quests, save up gold and carefully craft the cards they want. That has no appeal for me. I have spent more money than I'd care to admit on this game because I really enjoy it. I don't have a lot of time to play, maybe two hours a week if I'm lucky so grinding isn't possible. When I play I like to have all the cards I need to make any deck I want. But that has a huge cost to it. Just to keep current and get all the good stuff I probably spend close to €150 per expansion plus I buy the adventures and some bundles if I think they're a good deal. I know a lot of people aren't in a position to spend as much money on the game.

The way I see it, HS either requires a lot of time invested or money spent in order to keep up. I don't think there's any other way.

I've said it before but the game is almost too expensive for me to justify anymore. Some €500 a year is no small amount of money and I'm not sure how much longer I'll happily part with my money just to enjoy a few hours of HS every now and then. I used to play much more than I do now. I suppose I'm dealing with the sunk cost falicy where I feel I've spent so much on the game it would be a shame to stop. It's great having a collection where you can make pretty much any deck you want to in both Standard and Wild and I would like to be able to keep up with the game but, "How long can this go on?", well I'm not sure.

Card card games are expensive if you want to keep a big collection, there’s no 2 ways about it. That being said, even with your very high amount of money put in and low amount of time played, you are paying less than 5£ per hour of entertainment, which is reasonable compared to many other activities: movies, mini golf, bowling, laser tag etc.

That being said, with regular play, it’s a reasonable hobby. Sinking in 150 £ every 3 months for preorders, adventures and random packs will get you easily all meta decks if you play 5 hours a week. That’s still not a high time investment, but set for arguments sake. Now hourly cost is less than 2.5, and that goes down rapidly as you play more.

    Quote from Zenon1989 >>

Hi, I play HS a few years now since the Beginning (not Beta).

But I have a Problem. I play Demon Hunter and can easily climb to Gold 8 but at this point I Loose VS every class and deck no matter which DH deck I use. It's like entering Gold rank and its all about anti DH. It makes me so mad I don't know what to do. It's not because of my skills. Any tips for me? With wich Deck and Class I can climb higher to platin, diamond or maybe Legend? I try so hard but it's useless because every opponent destroys me when I play DH. Oh and often I have very bad Topdecks.... Very annoying....

Link your deck? If you have the needed cards for the cookie cutter tempo DH, it’s just a matter of practice and you can take that to legend :)

    Quote from BeardedBear >>
    Quote from Claesh >>

I see this theory every now and then. Personally, I usually only play meta decks, so could never really relate. This season I decided to go off meta and brew something up, to see what all the fuzz was about.

The result is that I hit legend in both wild (rank 158) and standard (rank 450) faster than ever before, so it is quite safe to say my experience was very different. Same pattern for me emerged on both ladders: Started out struggling at just about 50% win rate, but due to star bonuses I still climbed well. Hitting diamond I was a lot more familiar with my deck and how to handle the meta, and my win rate rose to just over 60% (61 wild, 63 standard).

Learning the decks had a big impact on my success, but I think I was also helped by the MMR system. Struggling early lowered my MMR from last season, which meant I got a fighting chance even with off meta deck and inexperience.

For reference I played Quest Hunter in standard and Reno Demon Hunter in wild.

Interesting... congrats on your success using your own ingenuity. Well done!

Thanks, but I didn’t conjure the decks up entirely. The archetypes are known, just not part of the current meta. Made some adjustments according to the meta I was seeing.

Looks like the same experience for me this season in wild.

I am using my own home brew Mage deck.  I quit playing ranked early last season in gold so I have limit d bonus stars.  This is 3 seasons in a row now if the exact same formula playing out.

I start the new season strong, barely losing any games rising up to the top half of gold. I see a good variety of decks on the way, quite balanced.

As soon as I get top half of gold everything changes. This is a night and day difference. I see no variety anymore and my win rate drops to 50%. All I face now are great Priest and Rogue decks, at least 8 out of 10 are one of these two classes.  Maybe the odd demon Warlock.

The previous 2 seasons this is where I quit out of principle.  I went back to casual matches and found variety and a good winrate again.

I hate this.  Nothing gets gradually harder as you climb. A switch is flipped for me early in gold and it's like I'm fighting at diamond level 1 to try to hot legend. Nonsense.  They believe this will drive me to invest more in the game, but instead, knowing I am being manipulated, it drives me away.

I'd much rather have an equal bucket system knowing the first week of each season will be a bit tougher and the last a bit easier.

Maybe the timing of the switch is linked to when your bonus stars run out.

I see people talking about the rank of their opponents. How do you see this?  On my phone and laptop all I see is their names.   Without knowing who I am playing how am I to determine how good my homebrew deck is now?

     Well put

And is it that bad when Glaivebound Adept one turn later (+ it still can come turn 5 with the coin)?

     It is a MASSIVE difference.
Just think of all the cards that have gotten nerfed by +1 mana and gotten from fantastic to useless

Blizzard's community lead has already apologized to Savjz. He can participate in future events. No need for any further arguments on this thread.

Which was, make no mistake, purely a business decision as well.
Turns out the loudmouths of the internet can create quite an uproar when their internet celebrity idols get, what they believe, is an unfair treatment. The nuisance of their injustice spam has now been gauged as being a bigger drawback than inviting them back to invitationals.

Blizzard didn’t grow a heart, they simply got to a point where the cons outweigh the pros, and they switch direction. Business 101

    It’s not all that odd...

If someone I fired from my company was throwing tantrums on social media about my company, I wouldn’t be inviting that persons spouse as entertainment for my next company event either. Seems just like common sense to me, I mean, why would I?

Yea there’s a chance he completely disagrees with his wife and shows up without a hitch, but I’m not particularly inclined to run that risk when I have countless replacement dying to participate. From a business perspective, I completely understand this.

If I was Savijz, I’d be pretty slightly disappointed that my wife wouldn’t have to foresight to see how that would quite obviously backfire. Yea it sucks to be fired, but shit happens, move on, it’s not personal.

I come back to the forums to make a joke that Blizzard has reached the status of "monthly nerfs" and this is what I come back to?! I didn't serve my country to let this dictator-esque diatribe go unchecked.

It's odd, because America has multiple stipulations in its local, state, and federal laws against retaliatory discrimination. These global companies keeps forgetting where their home base and values lies and now people like you are walking around thinking it's okay to be persecuted and blacklisted for having a difference in opinion.

You clearly have and never will run or manage a successful business, because the first rule of business is the fiduciary duty to make as much money as possible and catering to only a subset of people with a ideology in the minority doesn't make money. It's no accident these big Fortune 500 companies run a multitude of "inclusion and unity" ads every time some seismic social event makes the news.

Don't bother responding until you lived in a country where your free speech has actually been met with some real repercussions. Everyone keeps sneaking on boats and trains to America for a reason, regardless what the media brainwashes you into believing.

What a load of incoherent and wannabe patriotical drivel.

First of all, this is by no legal definition retaliatory discrimination. Blizzard are free to invite (and exclude) whoever they want to a promotional event. There was no legal obligation here. You boast about freedom, yet completely ignore the organizations freedom to host their promotional events as they please.

It is no way a matter of being persecuted for having a difference of opinion. He is not being denied constitutional rights or anything similar for his opinion, so dial down the zealotry. He is simply not being picked as an ambassador for a company.

Blizzard is a company that does several events for disaster relief and also diversity focus, so I don’t see this part of your comment has any relevance what so ever. You are absolutely right, the business needs to make money, and this decision was quite clearly made with that in mind. They valued the risk of including him in this promotional event would be bigger than the gain from including him. Thinking otherwise is ignorant and a lack of understanding how a business is run.
