More than any other theme, the Flavour Text mini-comps are the most subjective and based on personal taste.

And with that said, "Good Listener" and "Glacial Skin" are the only ones I personally find myself voting for, being good jokes told in a punchy way without glut. The rest are either too wordy, not that funny, or both.

Yeah, the only two classes that'd really make use of Overkill on Heroes is Warlock and Priest, and even then only on themselves, as demonstrated in several of our submissions, and a lot of Custom Cards. And I can see why they wouldn't cater to that, because it's so niche.

19 out of 135 revealed at the time of posting, so, we'll see how it goes, but, still, I get the feeling that even all the Overkill: (Negative Effect) fans have come up with might turn out to not be represented in the official cards. Like, using Keywords in a negative way, don't think that happened in the official card with any of the earlier expansion (apart from Battlecry, Deathrattle, and Freeze on Frozen Crusher. And obviously Overload)

If Druid's theme is about using their Hero's Attack in other ways, such as activating Savage Striker , they'll need a way to tap into that effect outside of using the Hero Power; Malfurion the Pestilent won't be around (Standard) forever. Gonk's Chosen is hard capped at providing +3 Attack if it runs into a 1 Health minion, which could be seen as a waste of its 4/7 statline, so you have to balance just how much value you put in pumping attack into your Hero that turn (provided enough support goes into the theme of Attack activation)

So I've got two ideas of playing with the function of "Discard and Draw," replenishing your resources just as much as you ditch them. I'm pretty happy with the effects, themselves, although the bodies their attached to, I'm wondering if they could use some alteration.

The Secret Shopkeep would probably not have a place on the ladder, but would be a major swing card in Arena; power levels in Arena tend to be rather low, and there's a lot of variance of power within Rarities, so if you got screwed on the choice of Legendary, the Shopkeep could give you a chance to mulligan on that, or, likewise, if you were forced to pick between trash, you can hold it for another chance.

As for the Hoarding Dragon, I thought I'd add the conditional clause to its Deathrattle to only take effect if its Battlecry went off to avoid cheating out a Super Loot Hoarder. Although, is 3/4 still too weak for a card that forces you to Discard 2, even if you Draw 3 later? And would Paladin be a better home for this dragon than Hunter?

So I thought a direction to go into with Treants was the "growth, tending" aspect, y'know what better show of life than living trees? I though to demonstrate this theme in one of three ways. The Green Father has a Houndmaster Shaw type effect, more limited in scope, but makes up for it by giving himself the benefit, as well. His "This is a Treant" tag also lets him activate Dendrologist and Mulchmuncher.

Manwe, though combines cultivating health with the classic Druid flexibility, either restoring Health to your hero, or bolstering his own health and becoming just a big boy your opponent would have to get through. Finding the right wording for it, though, is tricky, since you want to get across that both options are affected by how many Treants died, and that he doesn't get the Taunt keyword multiple times, separately. So maybe, if there's no good wording for Manwe, the Witchwood Nymph is the way to go to at least get the Health Restoration effect.

"Oooh MAN, is it good to stop sucking in that 19,873 pound gut!"

Thanks to @linkblade91 for the idea of making this a Rogue card. Why should Priest get all the fun Dragon cards? As Hunter demonstrated in The Witchwood expansion, you don't have to be Priest, or Warrior, or, to a stalled out extent, Paladin to get some fun Dragon tools. Thematically, Rogue makes for a good, sneaky, "ha ha ha, I was the villain all along!" kind of move, plus it plays into an angle of Dragons not fully explored in Hearthstone. More than just phenomenal power and breaths of different damage types, they're also dangerously cunning. "Katrana Prestor"/Onyxia gives us a good example of that in WoW, itself.

But what about Preparation ? The dream, there, is having a minion in play, and then Prep + True to Form on 3, to average into a turn 3 8/8 that can't attack until turn 4, potentially high rolling into Deathwing or Ysera, but also low rolling into Temporus. It still requires you to have a live minion on your side of the board, and sacrifices that minion plus True to Form plus however many cards you spend to expedite the play, which can be a significant investment that could backfire if they have an answer.

I've also heard fan ideas about nerfing Prep to instead make the next 1-4 mana spell cost 0 instead of any spell cost 3 less and frankly yes that should be a thing that happens.

I...don't know why I missed that with the Golden Egg. My apologies.

As for Priest vs Rogue as to what class "True to Form" fits in, I definitely see the idea behind putting in a Rogue class for the surprise factor and subterfuge. My initial thought with Priest was that they're the class most associated with Dragons so it'd make sense for them to have it.

So, taking the feedback from before, I made some tweaks to some of the card ideas I had. Specifically Dragon Tamer and Golden Egg.

True to Form seemed fair and interesting, so didn't make any major changes to it. Golden Egg was deemed straight value, so increasing the cost to 7 seemed appropriate, making it like Sprint, but still with the idea that cards in your deck are better than random cards, hence the +1 draw. And tutor cards are always some of the most powerful in any card game, although Dragon Tamer's very niche for a tutor card, so making him slightly weaker seemed a way to go to make him less OP.

There was also the idea that, since you're sacrificing an already established minion with True to Form, even for an 8/8 on average, but sometimes for a 12/12 highroll or a 6/6 lowroll, it might be just as fair at 5 mana as at 6. As for Golden Egg, if you wanted the effect more often, it could be 5 Mana Add 3 Cards, making it a Rogue variation on Nourish.

A couple of ideas I came up with; not entirely married to the name/art of the legendary minion but i'm rather fond of the effect as rare cards are the most common cards played in most decks so its pretty strong; may bump it to 8 mana.

ALSO: I accidentally posted on the submission topic cause I thought it was discussion, can a mod delete that? (Its on page 2)

Between the two, my preference is for Divine Blessing. They're both simple cards, all told, one's a buff the other's a mountain of stats. I feel like Divine Blessing's the healthier of the two, since Tharon'ja's the type of card that either sees no play or warps the meta around it, limiting Rare cards or necessitating Silence tech. Plus, I'm just tickled by the idea of using Divine Blessing in setup for Lynessa Sunsorrow. Not meta, but still amusing bit of synergy.

Makes commons into rares, rares into epics and epics into legendaries. Mechanic is shaman's, but i feel thematicly it's more apropiate to paladin.

Rogues love coins and playing dirty.

    Upgrades:

Yes, i brought it back. It seemed appropriate to the theme. Made it paladin cause of crystals and stuff (lazy to change the art)

Thematically, Coming of Age is the most interesting, but mechanically, I worry that playing with Shaman's thing is a bridge too far, and there's the volatile variance in Rarities people have pointed out for other cards. Pay to Win is probably the strongest of your three, both in terms of actual gameplay effectiveness and mechanical cohesiveness. Some classes would be ludicrous to steal from if you highroll enough (Mage and Antonidas, for instance...). And the Crystal is against the rules. Pay to Win is the one I recommend you go forward with.

Hi guys! What do you think?

Seems overly complicated, especially since it sounds like even if the Common minions were destroyed already they get shuffled into the deck. I think Psychic Scream is enough for deck flooding, and the rotation of Weasel Tunneler was an unspoken blessing. Plus it's just not an appealing card.

Hello guys! Been reading Hearthpwn on an off for some time and finally decided to make an account. This is my first post here and I'd like to hear your opinions on this card I made. Made it 5 mana because Zoo could highroll extremely with this if it cost less and it'd be almost useless if it cost more. A nice bonus is that you can put this on enemy minions as well and eventually get lucky to counter some strategies or get past taunts.

I'd definitely recommend some new art for it, but, that said, not a bad idea for a card effect. The theory behind it is sound, but the Poly-bomb effect would necessitate a higher mana cost than 5.

    Quote from Fortify >>

So I have a few more ideas. Any advice would be helpful.

The Gem Collector seems mostly cosmetic; the only practical purpose seems to be as some sort of anti-Rend Blackhand tech, which is already a tech card in and of itself, and assuming cards released around it to facilitate that sort of mechanic is a big ask for this competition. That out of the way, Surprise Gift and Murozond are actually both fairly interesting cards. I'm always a sucker for buff cards, and I like the idea behind an "Unidentified" effect that you have more control over. Admittedly, my touch on the pulse of the forum is limited and askew, but it feels like Murozond is the type of effect that would generate the most interest between the three, and I don't think you need to do anything else with him to make him shine.

    Quote from Sinti >>

I have this so far. Will have to find art for it when i get home and the name is a placeholder as well.

Variance aside, I do think this could thematically work for Rogue, as a sort of "Kill and Replace" type of name and art. A spy infiltrating the team, or a doppleganger/faceless slipping into an adventuring party, this could work. Maybe as an 8 mana card, though. 5 Damage and "Destroy" are similar in power level, but "Destroy" is always more flexible and has an infinite ceiling compared to 5 Damage.

I'm dropping my weapon-guy; the text required to pull him off is just too complicated. Hopefully this is better/more cool:

"Edwin fights for the Common people, whether they be farmers or Faerie Dragons."

Rush is mainly a Warrior thing, but maybe Edwin could push a Rush Rogue. This would give the class a chance at reasonable board control, and could combine well with Combo to pump out minions and, well, combos (like with Defias Ringleader). Edit: I figured someone else would post something like this, with the Start of Game, but I guess not heh

I don't think there's a problem with Rush being a Warrior thing mostly. You know, Houndmaster Shaw exists.

I find this card more interesting that the blacksmith guy you put in the first page, that was too complex IMO.

Err...yeah. I knew that; it's not like I don't own Houndmaster Shaw and thus forgot about his existence...*cough*

I've been notified via our mod-chat that my card is too good, so I've dropped the +1/+1:

With the dropping of the +1/+1, this is much more palatable. Even in Quest Rogue this is fair, since it blocks off the Sonya cheese, and not playing nice with Auctioneer prevents Miracle Rogue shenanigans. Powerful effect with a very narrow deck archetype it works in, this has my vote.

So, like I said, that initial post of mine was more for a joke, punning on the concept of "The Tragedy of the Commons" and getting the requisite Giant out of the way. Now for some serious concepts...

The theme behind True to Form is something I thought might be interesting. While the Dragon Aspects have set-in-stone "mortal" forms, it would be fun to pick a friendly minion and reveal that they were Ysera or Nozdormu or Deathwing all along. There's the highroll of Deathwing (either form in Wild), and the low roll of Temporus, but on average you land on an 8/8. Sacrificing an already established minion for it might be too high a cost, so maybe this could be a 5 mana card. (There's also the idea of zooming in on the art so you can see Katrana Prestor taking on her dragon form)

Dragon Tamer was kind of the result of looking at Rend Blackhand and thinking "What's the opposite of that?" So, a tutor tool for Dragon Priest, and a play on the whole "If you're holding a Dragon..." mechanic. Finally, as for the Golden Egg, I did think of maybe starting with a Neutral goose that lays a golden egg in your deck or hand or field, but then it's just Elise the Trailblazer. And since random cards tend to be worse than cards you put in your deck, 5 Mana Draw 5 is a bit more justifiable, I thought, although this could go to 6 or 7 mana.

@Noah_McGrath - The way I see it, you had Everyfin is Awesome from League of Explorers. With two Murlocs, you're looking at +2/+2 to all minions for 5 mana, for even cheaper if you had more Murlocs, and Murlocs tend to be very easy to play. For Friendship Celebration, Primalfin Totem and the Murloc it spawns surviving for one turn activates it for that same power level and mana cost, and that requires two weak minions sticking around. You get +3/+3 if you run an Elemental as well, and then from there Shaman deckbuilding becomes a lot more challenging to fit more tribes into their deck.

    ... ... ...

Unless Nightmare Amalgam causes this card to trigger for each and every one of its "types," in which case HOO BOY, 8 mana give all your minions except Nightmare Amalgam +7-8/+7-8

@ffinderous and @allanime01- Given how well Rogues can make use of Coins, I think cashing in with Asar makes more thematic sense while still being a very powerful effect. Just look at Tomb Pillager. Granted, that came with +2/+1 on Asar, but you could get so many more Coins. I do agree, though, "based on its" is better than "for its," although I worry if that might crowd the text box...
