so generally Cleef is played as an early huge minion vs agro or a late game threat combined with loatheb vs warrior for example as a 6/6. If you want to play defensive you couple play 2 belchers, another 4 drop is fine as well.
When i made the deck i was playing vs c warrior, agro shaman and druid. Body good vs both the midrange control classes but it usually got taunt vs shaman. Reason why i had it in there. Recently i removed Harrison for loatheb and added a chow for the jouster.
interesting, emperor won me a couple games, notably accelerating lay on hands vs agro shaman, and allowing me to KT and Tirion earlier. Also a game vs secret paladin, i dropped it on 6 when he challengered. I cleared his board and dropped a shreeder and a minibot which gave me back irreversible tempo.
I would like to just iterate a few things that you may want to take into account:
1) The deck takes some getting use to, it plays different than midrange paladin because you dont always use resources inneficiently to keep up with tempo. You must take into consideration your hand and how much damage you can afford to take much like with handlock.
2) A big reason the deck was so successful for me is that people did not expect it. One game i dropped pyro on 2 and a druid i played against (thinking i was otk paladin) played vs conservatively because he feared getting his board wiped. By conservatively i mean for instance instead of playing drake and shade on 8, he would drake hero power. This plays to the advantage of the deck because as long as you have time you can respond to threats very efficently and effectively.
3) you can think about adding a pyromancer and romoving a 4 drop.
4) Because you have 2 equalities, be wary of trading your 1/1s. Sometimes certain trades you just dont want to make because of the versatility these tokens give you combined with equality.
I love all the people that don't believe 80% win rate are in fact not capable themselves of attaining it. This season on EU I lost 1 game from rank 7 to legend. 1 game. On NA i lost more to legend but sometimes you have a good deck and you go on insane streaks. If this type of thing has never happened to you you are probably not a good player.
That being said; i think this is a poor midrange paladin deck. Beats agro and cntrol warrior but not much else.
you said you were waiting for the day you would see a golden Maexxna; golden spinner provides those. They were more common when Mid range hunter was a thing during the undertakers times.

read the edit and the classes i was playing against.

druid is fine, Otk paladin is hard if you have no early pressure. Reno OTK is hard if they know what you are, easier than midrange paladin.
