This card seems terrible but It's something of a concept card. We have very few of these mechanics in the game already (Headcrack, Explorer's Hat, The Skeleton Knight) and none of them are weapons. Blizzard likely wants to see how a card like this will do, and is weary of making it too cheap  because a card like this can snowball fast. It being an epic means that Arena Warriors won't get screwed by it either, so good thinking there.

If you're supremely unlucky, you should still get a legendary every 40 packs. So depending on how much you need, without disenchanting/getting lucky, it may take you 200-300 packs.

Well Archmage Antonidas is almost required for Freeze Mage, so if you want to work towards that with the ability to play other Mage decks, get him.

Yep, was one of my favorite cards alongside Abomination back in the day. It was one of the first cards my friend told me was a must craft. It paid off, went into most, if not all of the decks I built back then.

Damn yeah Abomination was great back in the day.

posted a message on Cards to dust

I believe I'm in a minority on this, but I go ahead and dust the second copy of all the useless cards I know I won't use (Angry Chicken, Dragonhawk Rider, etc.) in order to make those epics and legendaries that I might. I don't need to keep a card I may only use in a fun gimmick deck if the other option is getting a competitive legendary.

I'd personally guess late February - March but that is strictly my own guess. They could surprise us with something like LoE. I don't think the meta is as stagnate now as it was between TGT and LoE

Prohpet Velen and Cenarius aren't that good (though you could fit them in if you really tried as a fun tech). The Black Knight isn't that great outside of a control-ish meta. Between Harrison Jones and Baron Geddon, I think the latter is the more fun card, and its the best if you want to play CW. But Harrison can see play in a variety of decks as well.

The 6 drop spot has traditionally been hard to fill in many decks in Hearthstone. Savannah Highmane and Fire Elemental aside, few decks had something good to play on 6, so many ran two Argent Commanders for many of the reasons Zukuu mentioned.

I know what you mean lol, Warlocks are rampant at rank 10 and rank 7, but not at 8 and 9.

They're supposed to murder RenoLock, Control Warrior, Control Priest and Freeze Mage: basically the slower decks that can't kill them or avoid combo. They're bad against Secret Paladin, Zoolock, Tempo Mage and Patron Warrior.

I tend to play Rogue in a tempo way but the beauty of it is the class is so flexible in Arena

I understand the logic here, so I'm not immediately shutting this idea down in my head. But I don't think this is the answer to constantly playing against the same Secret Paladin, Midrange Druid, or Aggro Shaman decks. Instead, I think it would be simpler and more advantageous if there was just a background matchmaking thing that made it so that you stop playing similar decks consecutively, or something to that effect.

Wow are you serious ? A whole expansion or 1 card. Boom is overrated by the way.

Overrated, not really. Boom is guaranteed value. He WILL make you win more games, put him in any deck, any class. New expansion cards are still up in the air. Only a few are guaranteed to be good. Pretty well accepted that Emperor is the Boom of the BRM set and Boom is still better than him. BRM is strong, it's just hard to compete with the pure value of Boom.

If looking to get more wins, Boom is most likely way better for him than BRM. If looking for fun, BRM is the better choice.

The fact that there is no neutral card as good as Boom and BRM added alot of stuff that is situational or class related means it will take experimentation to see how the cards fit in the decks. Not much of this BRM set is an instant upgrade to any deck, it's more about creating new decks and finding the few things you can slot into exsisting decks for the slighest of changes.

Really BRM is the way to go only if looking for fun. If you have a specific class / deck in mind that you know will get great use out of a BRM card, even then you must compare it to Boom. Will that new BRM card you want help your deck more than Boom? Almost certainly not. And if you just play all the classes, well then, Boom is still more likely to help all your classes overall, rather than the BRM class cards. A few exceptions out there, such as face Hunter not really needing a 7 drop, and Quick Shot possibly being better, but then you are not getting Boom for the 8 other classes, which make better use out of Boom than almost all the BRM cards.

Boom for the wins, BRM for the fun.

And just to clarify, I'm not saying BRM is weak, it clearly continues on with some power creeping, and has a few gems. Just that for a new player, with limited gold/dust, and most concerned with winning more games, Boom is the obvious choice.

Yes, BRM is the least important of the three adventures IMO.
That said, why is this a choice for you OP? Is it between spending 700 each week on packs or adventures? Because there's no guarentee you'll actually get Boom unless you have a lot of dust already.

posted a message on Is Hearthstone enough mentally challenging for you?

I hope that the success and popularity of Discover has shown Blizzard that they don't need to rely on the complete randomness of cards like Unstable Portal and Spellslinger to make cards both unpredictable and fun. There is RNG to Discover, but there's arguably more strategy involved.
