posted a message on 29.2.1 Patch Notes - Small Adjustment to Quest Requirements - Armor Changes for Battlegrounds & Bug Fixes

Just to add onto this a bit, a really good video from Hearthstone Mathematics on YouTube was put out this morning. They do a lot of breakdowns between expansions and with major changes. 10/10 video talking about the new changes and their thoughts on why they did it and how bad it is actually going to be.

posted a message on Patch 29.2 Patch Notes - Battlegrounds Season 7, Constructed Change, New Cosmetics & More

So, I know some folks play a lot less where the card packs are required to play (like me, but I still like opening packs), but why is the 2nd rewards track that is focused on battlegrounds overall worse than the first track focused on Standard? Same amount of points required, but only 2 Packs and a BG hero skin vs 6 packs and a standard hero skin?

I mean at least change the 2 packs out for some emotes or something? Maybe just 2 packs on the 750 tier, 2-6 emotes, and a BG hero skins or a Bob skin?

What do I know though... I'm still mad I can't buy 4 hero's to pick from for gold anymore.

Poisoned Blade in wild might like it? But otherwise, yeah unless you can swap out your hero power.

I'm assuming tokens and the new miniaturized stuff will work with this card, but I've got to wonder if cards that you buff in your hand (0 attack base going to 1 attack, or 1 attack/health base going to 2+ attack/health when buffed) will work the same way.

posted a message on Unauthorized Bot-Ban Update – February 2024

I actually heard about this, but I think it was a post from Runescape. The issue they have with doing it one at a time is that, the botters can learn from which bots are targeted. If they are running multiple bots, or just post about it on their botting forums, folks can use that information to improve the bots and/or realize that they need to start using different bots to accomplish their goals. This means more bots that are better at evading current detection methods.

Whereas, if you do a single ban-wave all at once, it can be a lot harder for the botters to determine what gave them away, meaning a slower reaction time to getting it working again. They may have several different types of bots all get taken out at once too, cutting of their income source, where if it was a one at a time, they could always modify all versions of the bot to better evade detection.

It sucks in the short term, but there are long term reasons for doing it that way. And yes, reporting does help, but I'm sure they have to go through a number of accounts daily where someone is just reporting to report, or there are issues with internet, or even just playstyle that makes it seem like a bot when it really isn't.

I hate to ask this, but can someone explain excavate's rewards path to me? I know playing a card gets you an excavated random card from a better tier each time, but I cannot remember how many times you have to excavate to get to the Legendary, and if after getting the Legendary, you get any additional rewards for excavating or not.

posted a message on 27.4 Known Issues - Malware False Positive - Issues with Renathal and Anomalies

I'm a bit upset, as on mobile, I can't preview what the anomalies are in battle grounds. Try to hover over the button, and nothing shows up. Kinda frustrating trying to figure out what character to be when you can't see what kinda game you are playing :/

posted a message on 24.6 Patch Notes - Expansion Pre-order, New Event System, BGs & Mercenaries Changes

I want to agree with FortyDust above, but at the same time, I look at Overwatch 2 and see what a cluster F....yeah... that its first event is. They had one skin that was given for free and the rest were locked behind paywalls of $10-$30. Activision-Blizzard isn't afraid to monetize anything and everything.

The events will up being the same as the Battle Grounds bash thing they are pushing where there is just enough to get the F2P people interested and make them think its a good deal w/o actually giving people anything worth while for free...

    Quote from MyDude33 >>

It's cosmetics bro... Be mad at the $15 they charge for selecting from 4 heroes. Not stuff that has no effect on anything. I pity the people you interact with in real life.

I wish the cosmetics would have fails miserably here. Seeing what is happening to Overwatch 2 , I've got to imagine had something to do with how well some of the items have done in hearthstone... Cosmetics are ruining that game, because Activision-Blizzard is more focused on pumping out monitizable items than they are on balancing and introducing new content. Just half@ss sub-par products and grab as much cash as you can before everyone realizes how terrible your game really is and that you don't really plan on supporting it.

Interested to see how they change it. Maybe a "Give a friendly Mech" as opposed to friendly minion, bump down the buff, or make the buff not permanent (possibly dropping the tavern tier as well.

Hell, even just say "Summon two 5/5 Ancient Treants instead"

Still keeps the original thought but shows the 5/5s are a bit stronger/older

posted a message on Battlegrounds Cosmetics & Features - Developer Interview By Ninaisnoob!

You know, I am not a fan of this, but really it isn't even the monetization here (though that sucks to punish your player base who is FTP by not allowing for an in game currency to purchase some of these items). Its more just about how much they are charging. I mean I guess they have a good price point that people are willing to spend money, but I just can't see giving blizzard $10USD for a game board cosmetic when I can go to a few other game platforms and find decent games for that much if not less. Yeah it takes time and yes they look cool, but really it does nothing whatsoever and while I could justify $2-3 a board, $10 just seems way over priced.

But that is just my opinion. Again, they have been selling the hero skins for a while now and those must be making some money for prices to have stayed consistent, but man I cannot say I am going to be shelling out cash anytime soon.
