posted a message on RoS - Way Too Early First Impressions

The main problem with the expansion is NOT Bomb Warrior, it is Thief Rogue. I just played a guy that shuffled 11 copies of Tess back into his deck. At that point you literally cannot win, unless you have an inevitable wincon deck. It is just miserable to play against.

The DKs leaving Standard is one of the things I am most looking forward to. Talk about OP, they warped the meta for months.

I miss that class ordering, it made it much easier to evaluate the set. :(

Most of the issues the OP cites are reasonable concerns or criticisms, in my opinion, and completely appropriate things to discuss in a Hearthstone forum.

People seem to think that re-treading known ground is "lazy" and a "sign of running out of ideas". Revisiting design space is a must in most games. The whole point of "callback" cards is that they are using known mechanics from previous sets... People in this forum have 0 clue about game design.

I agree that revisiting design is fine. BUT NOT NOW.

Yeah, I agree. If nothing else, the optics are very bad.

All these "Is Hearthstone over?" threads need to be combined in something like the salt thread.

What makes you think it is just "salt"? Perhaps look at the traffic and revenue stats for Hearthstone first.

well I agree with you to some extent you have to understand that recycling these game mechanics also helps to create a more consistent game experience overall. constantly throwing in new mechanics is what led to this current meta being so stale and unbalanced. there wasn't enough thought put into what these mechanics were going to do to the overarching meta. I'd rather have them recycle a few mechanics if it means they don't try to create a whole bunch of new ones every single time they release an expansion.

I just want the most significant cards of the set, like the class legendaries, to feel special and be a bit more exciting. Recycling effects from Marin or Golden Monkey, which many of us have already played with (for hours) doesn't really do it for me. It feels lazy.

I feel the same as the OP to be honest. Expansions are fun because of interesting new mechanics. Recycling old mechanics is less interesting to me, I've already spent hours messing with Golden Monkey (Rafaam) and Marin treasures (Heistbaron).

posted a message on This expansion, like now, is scaring me a lot

I feel like Blizzard should try to knock this expansion out of the park. HS revenue, and general interest in the game, are both in decline.

First impressions are bad though, in my opinion. Recycled mechanics for significant class legendaries are not a good look. I already had fun messing around with Marin's treasures and the Golden Monkey, now I'm ready for something new.
