Thanks for your reply. The Deathwing tech is now almost officially a part of the meta. It is included at least here: http://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-8/  (that's one list with very minor tweaks over the originals - I don't know why the guy is taking credit, but anyway: http://www.vicioussyndicate.com/wp-content/uploads/Bearnuggets-Dragon-Warrior.png)

I haven't tried it myself, but in the regular non-Deathwing versions I am very satisfied with Malkorok. He just gives you more options in winning the game. NZoth's First Mate is also very useful - not 100% necessary but a clever card to add.

posted a message on [LEGEND] The Patron Build Control Warriors don't want you to use!

    1. I am afraid "Can't be bothered to track it" doesn't really cut it here at all. A proper deck description, especially with the usual clickbait [LEGEND] in the title, has the proof for it along with detailed match stats from the HS tracker. Furthermore, a true [LEGEND] title means that the player has used it to climb to legend, not in an on/off fashion but consistently. It also doesn't mean at all that "it performs well there". That's very vague and doesn't mean anything in particular. Legend is a place where slower, quirky imaginative decks can do well if played with skill (just watch any streamer there who's bored out of his mind and plays Astral Communion, Patrons, Yogg Stone Mages etc).

    2. As I wrote, the compulsory in control warrior double Brawls will inevitably be drawn by the time you play your Patron combos, which is turn 6-7 with the absolute best of luck. And even if they don't, in the overwhelming majority of cases due to their high shield points and efficient removals they can afford to wait a bit until they get one. As for dragon tempo, as I said they are very fast and don't bother waiting for any patron combos to appear.

    3. I respect your lack of time to make a video, and completely understand it.

I have tried this deck and a good number of variations with the cards I described (and more!). I even tried Patrons in other classes with weird ideas (like Spreading Madness and other Warlock pings etc). The results, in summary, were described in what I wrote.

The two decks have exactly the same strategy, and the differences are too small to be called a hybrid. One good example of the proper use of the term in HS is the old combo druid and the pure ramp druid. Some ramp decks were then including big taunts, lots of deathrattles, sometimes Kel Thuzad, and control-ish cards on top of their pure ramp style, but also added one copy of the combo - that was indeed a "hybrid". But we are getting unecessarily deep into semantics.

By the way, many/most NZoth decks today include 2xInfested Tauren to stop the usual face melting extravaganza, and the benefit is that NZoth will bring them back as a good defence measure, so I would definitely suggest adding them in.

The clickbait title is funny because control warriors will always, ALWAYS wait for the perfect moment to play their 2 brawls, which they will almost certainly get since the patron combos come late in the game because they are mana-expensive, assuming of course you have the correct cards and have not spent them elsewhere. Plus, they will do all this while still staying high in shield points. Same case with other players from other classes with AoE, and attack-neutering minions/spells (Aldor etc).

Using Blood Warriors is a good idea that I have repeatedly tried myself in Patron decks (invested 400 dust just for it), but it doesn't really help significantly or change the fact that patrons at the moment are too slow to be of any particular threat (especially versus aggro) and too weak to AoE. Weak to Shamans, all other warriors and control paladins and (sort of) good against zoo and tempo mage. That's it. Believe me, I've tried making this work with all kinds of different ideas (Blood Warriors, Darkspeakers, with Hogger, Doom of Elwynn, Rampage, behind the usual warrior taunts, you name it), but unfortunately the deck is a ghost of its former self, at least in Standard. Not saying it's useless, but just very mediocre, inconsistent and with low win rates versus all the other decks that are ranked higher. Yes, you might  - might - get a third wave of patrons with Blood Warriors, but even if you are able to pull it off, the third wave can usually also be handled or comes too late.

Another question: what does the other usual [LEGEND] clickbait in the title mean? Did you reach legend with it? Playing only with it, or switching with other decks (in which case it's not really "legend")? In which ranks? Starting from which? How long did it take you? Data of your wins/losses versus the other decks?

PS. "Tempo / control warrior: Simple match-up as they usually do not have enough fire power to heavily pressure you. For moments they do, you keep Execute in your starting hand to counter that." Are you serious? Control doesn't need to pressure you - I hope you have realised they are trying to sit back & do the EXACT opposite, and as long as you give them breathing space it's game over. As for dragon tempo - the version that almost everyone is playing at the moment instead of the regular Varian one - it is so overwhelmingly fast tempo-wise and aggressive that it's honestly a joke to say "they don't have enough fire power to heavily pressure you". Not to mention even faster decks like pirate warrior... No offense but your claims about the deck really do lose a lot of credibility with comments like these - among others.

What is a "hardcore NZoth paladin"? It's a perfectly normal NZoth paladin list, extremely similar(plus/minus one card) to previous lists by known and unknown players (Trump, Strifecro etc etc.)

So, what does this mean? Well, Halfhill is a place in Pandaria. If we were to consider that the Old God's Travel Agency leaflet was a sort of indication of the upcoming Adventure to be released in August, we'll notice that the Vale of Eternal Blossoms was open in the leaflet, another place in Pandaria. All of this leads to the conclusion that the new adventure of Hearthstone will be set in Pandaria.

Blizzard could have postponed the Halfhill Cardback so that it is released alongside the adventure. Sounds plausible to me. One way or the other, Hype Season is upon us!

Sounds reasonable to me. I'll buy that!
Blizzard has officially stated that the "travel leaflet" ad has absolutely nothing to do with the coming expansion. As for Pandaria, it's just a rumour not really substantiated by anything at the moment.

It's a good variation of the standard NZoth paladin lists, but why do you call it "hybrid"?

I was looking for the new-ish dragon tempo lists with Deathwing after seeing Firebat's tweet (https://twitter.com/firebat/status/748774343933456385) and I came across this. The list is almost identical, with one or two different tech choices. Interestingly, I see one Drakonid instead of two and Malkorok - Firebat kept two and ditched Malkorok, kept NZoth's First Mate, added an Inner Rage etc. He was facing a lot of mirror matchups, so he made some tweaks.

I am very intrigued by the deck, and I think we might be seeing more of it in the ladder. Googling also showed me that people have been wondering about the use of Deathwing in dragon tempo warrior for quite a while, but it seems now is the time for it.

Good guide, but it would really help if there was a video with some of the characteristic matchups.

You don't even need Varian or Malkorak, I don't see Varian much anymore(too slow and can fatigue you) and Gore howl is better anyway.

Of course you do. They are the very essence of tempo and ensure you keep yours up (pun...) irrelevant of what happens on the board. Fatigue is not an option, since both the usual tempo warrior and his brother, the quicker and more aggressive dragon tempo warrior with the two Drakonids,  aim to kill you soon - due to their rather short efficiency time span, if they reach fatigue they have already lost. Plus, Gorehowl is a 7-mana control card that's almost completely wrong in this deck.
As for Rafaam, he is usually suggested as the replacement for Varian if you don't have him, but after trying him I don't like him at all in the place of Varian. I'm a big fan of Rafaam, even using him many times in the place of Ysera in decks that needed her in the past, but it's an expensive and very anti-tempo card, and since aggro is everywhere you can't really afford that. Maybe at higher ranks close to (and in) legend things calm down a tiny bit, but in order to get there you will have used Varian already.
Both of the aforementioned tempo warrior decks are very efficient, but personally speaking I think they are tied to a lot of requirements for the win, and don't like the stress of having to meet them. And since I loathe(b) aggro, I prefer slow control decks that are more stress-free and with a better matchup average.

Exactly. By the way I firstly saw this deck (now widely known as the tempo dragon warrior with the two Drakonids) here something like 3 weeks ago: https://manacrystals.com/deck_guides/1175-tempo-dragon-warrior-60-7-win-rate-85-54-to-legend-from-rank-9-comparisons-to-tempo-warrior/

I tried it and didn't particularly like it, but it's a great deck to play, and powerful as well. It's more aggressive than its usual tempo warrior brother, but perhaps more efficient as well. But it also sort of runs out of steam quicker.

Er... I just clicked on the link appearing in the main page expecting to see even a MINOR zoo variation that of course has already been played a gazillion times, like for example the Cult Master version. Instead, I see no variation whatsoever. How is this list different than the standard zoo list that everyone and their mother, father, sister, cousin, uncle, neighbour and their dog are playing at the moment?

This deck with its F2P idea looks excellent - big thumbs up. I am a bit skeptical regarding the Mad Bombers, but then I realised that they will probably be very good against Zoo, which as you would expect is everywhere, and a good extra source of pings for the Worgen. How does it perform against control decks?

Thaurissan comes from the Blackrock adventure, and this deck was deliberately made to be as cheap in dust as possible, and without adventures. New players and others with alternate small collections in other accounts besides their main one (like me) will definitely be in a position to consider it, since they probably don't want to spend money/gold on the current Standard adventures (Blackrock & LoE) that in about 8 months will be moved to Wild.

(By the way very, VERY few people have realised that their Imp Gang Bosses, Renos, Justicars, Thaurissans, Flame Wakers, Elises, Branns etc etc will no longer exist in Standard in about 8-9 months from now).

posted a message on Are Vanillas Useless?

You are forgetting that vanilla cards, like all cards good or bad, are also there to be discovered through a spell/minion, evolved, random summonings (for example Forbidden Shaping) etc.

As for Flamewreathed Faceless, I don't think he should be considered vanilla at all. The proper vanilla version is War Golem, but he was especially undercosted (even with overload) for a specific class.
