Malygos is fine. Not all legendarys need to be in EVERY deck. I play him in a Shadow Priest deck and he shines. He is a combo deck legendary and doesn't need to be anything more than that.
Also, I'm guessing that the Hunter card is going to open up a new deck type rather than enhancing the Hunter deck types. If I had to guess, it's going to cost 4 or 5 mana, will not be a trap, will not create tokens (for either side), and will not boost stats.
Personally - my $$ is on a suped up version of Abomination or Pyromancer - in other words an alternate source of AoE that will actively undermine Hounds.
So far class cards seem to enhance already existing deck types rather than "create" new ones though. I mean, token druid can use the new seed card best and avenge secret seems cut and tailored to miniature paladin aggro decks. I still I hope so, as I play a shadow priest most.
An eye for an eye is so useless. They should change it to only proc when you receive more than 4 dmg to the face to allow better plays such as Mages Pyroblasting both faces and die. At least if you can't win you can take them to the grave with you.
This would be OP. Guaranteed >4dmg for 1 mana is too strong.
Velen is a GREAT underestimated legendary. Since the OP is making a shadow priest deck he is the legendaey to craft. Drop him on turn 9 with a mind blast and he has already paid off, even if insta-killed. Don't forget there is a standalone 7 mana 7/7 in the game. Velen is that + at least 5 damage to enemy hero if paired with mind blast and can insta-end a game if left on the board.
1/ Can they reveal any new mechanics that are being discussed for new expansions? (I don't care if they will make it into the game, I'm just curious about what they are thinking about, given the fact that some very popular card game mechanics like the graveyard will never be a part of Hearthstone due to its nature).
2/ Will Shadow Priest receive any love soon? (Please add him separate voiceovers like Jaraxxus, "the light shall burn you" is sooo unfit)
Thanks a lot for communicating with us, I love these developer interviews/insights!
I was lucky to get this in an arena draw playing druid.Malygos + swipe is insane. 9 dmg to one target, 6 to all others.
Ouch! :D yes I want to see a prophet + Malygos + Mid Blast! = 15 or 20?
20. I play a funny Malygos Velen shadowpriest that runs 2x Mind Blasts and 2x Smites and it can REALLY dish out damage if you make it to the end game. It can get really hilarious as I also run 2x Azure Drakes and Thalnos, so I have done stuff like 24 damage Blasts And Holy Fires.
T would be super hard to pull off lol. I guess you could bait out removal though so maybe not. Is mind blast 1 or 2 cmc? Prophet one turn malygos the second turn...Seems a little...crazy
You never play Prophet first. Malygos first to bait removal. If it dies you play Velen + Blast for 10 damage and a good chance of keeping your Velen. If it survives you play Velenblast for 20 + 4 from Malygos and the game is pretty much over.
EDIT number 724: If someone helps me with linking pictures I can attach some hilarious ones.
I believe you guys must have encountered it: 2 cards on top of each other and seemingly no way to play 1 of them. Any way around this? Getting it more and more lately and losing games because of it.
- Mind Control - Power Word: Death - Gnomish Inventor + Shadow Madness + Acidic Swamp Ooze + Novice Engineer
All in all, not impressive results as expected. MANY wtf moments for the opponents though. I killed a 26hp paladin in 1 turn with Velen coin +2 Blasts i.e, with Drake and Thalnos on board. He went for my face and I was left with 4hp but were more than enough. It is a very fun deck especially when it works (no surprise there). As I already said above I have dropped a 22 damage mind blast, I have used 2x Smite and Mind Blast with Malygos (pure pain) and done a lot of fun stuff. If someone can enlighten me on how I can upload images properly I will add a couple more for the lulz.
However, I made some changes: Mind control is waaay expensive and situational now at 10mana, took it out first thing. Added a second Shadow Madness for more AoE. The second Death was removed too even though there were cases I could soooo use it (dat 18 attack Val Cleef QQ), but helping with early game felt better. So I snuck in a novice engineer. Finally I decided to put a second ooze after a surprisingly bad time I had against warriors today (them and hunters were the classes I did worst against, which I REALLY didn't expect to).
All in all it is not a dead deck and I think once I learn it even better I will win a bit more. I went 4-3 against Priests losing twice by Mind control for example, because after I baited the Deaths out I happily assumed noone plays it anymore. I think they should add some synergy for Shadowform though, like amplifying shadow spells when under shadowform. That would be ideal imo. Example would be making Shadow Madness able to steal 4 atack minions when in Shadow, or Shadow words converge at 4. A burn combo deck like Shadow Priest can use real field control cards like mages have, but you can't give it to the class as a whole because then Priests would rule. This could be a solution, if only people over at Blizzard didn't want "complicate rulings" for their cards.
What do you hope to get in your starting hand with this deck?
Say you are going first: 1 x Shadowform, 1 x SW:P and 1 x dragon?
Faerie Dragons are always nice, yes. The rest depends on the class you are facing I guess, I would keep oozes against warriors for example. General rule is discard your mind blasts and legendaries as they are useful only to end, and then consider what you are facing. Shadow Word Pain for example I usually don't keep, unless enemy class has really dangerous 3hp minions and I don't have dragon in hand. 2 hp minions you shouldn't have problems against with racial, smites and minions.
OKAY SERIOUSLY. 3RD GAME WAS LULZ. Won 1st against hunter. Lost second against warlock aggro. Third I thoughstealed Ice block, lived 2 pyroblasts, he lived malygos mumbo jumbo to end with a 22 damage mind blast!!! Uploading epic screenshots love this deck every game is different.
EDIT: First game was easy win (low at rank still though so it isn't by any means an indication of how good the deck is) one turn early but had combo in hand xD + I stole his Tundra Rhino with Cabal, was fun.
Same for me. Prefer going second. And I give 0 fucks about Blizzard stats, if there's something where pure numbers can be wrong is balancing computer games. If it FEELS weaker for so many players, it IS weaker. Number is well, a number and it is open to a LOT of interpretation. So, I tell you this: Argent commander wins 50% of the games he is in (OF COURSE doh, he is in EVERY deck so one has to lose). Not balanced. King Krush wins 70% of the games he gets played in. Suuuuuure, but it's a big creature with charge that is most probably used as a win condition for the class that rarely reaches turn 9 in the first place. So. A naked number isn't always relevant. Let me see i.e new stats in a meta that doesn't have 10000 cheap monsters in a deck but a slower meta where a bad mulligan can cripple you bad. Or a more mid-game orientated meta where coining a 4-5 drop first will have greater impact than early board position. Or... You get the point, try playing a couple "mediocre" decks atm that disregard the meta and let's have this discussion again.

I would keep it.

This. No other answer. Play a healthy number of matches with each class and choose the one that you like the most.

Yeah poor yeti needs a buff >.< C'mon people, think!

I have to assume other classes with secrets will get a secret. Because so far number of secrets was equal and I think it will remain so.

Oookay, on to present the first day of results and the changes I've made post patch:
Win/Loss: 26-26
Win Rate: 50%
Hunter: 2W / 4L
Warlock: 2W /2L
Mage: 6W / 5L
Warrior: 3W / 5L
Druid: 1W / 1L
Paladin: 4W / 4L
Priest: 4W / 3L
Shaman: 2W / 2L
Rogue: 2W / 2L
What I've changed was:
- Mind Control
- Power Word: Death
- Gnomish Inventor
+ Shadow Madness
+ Acidic Swamp Ooze
+ Novice Engineer
All in all, not impressive results as expected. MANY wtf moments for the opponents though. I killed a 26hp paladin in 1 turn with Velen coin +2 Blasts i.e, with Drake and Thalnos on board.
