I'll test by myself, but I can suggest you maybe Shadowstep, Saronite Taskmaster (X1), Fungalmancer or Blink Fox.

Odd/Even decks are the new Quest Rogue. They are so good that even if we nerf them, they are coming back. Even Paladin was nerfed hard and came back. Odd Paladin was nerfed hard and came back. Odd Rogue will survive to the nerf to Cold Blood I think, even if it's brutal. Even Wild Shaman will almost surely survive to nerf to Flametongue. Then, people think Even/Odd decks will fall at the rotation because of a lot of big losses. Following what happened before, I think that's totally wrong. Odd Pally is playing really bad cards and is one of the better decks... This won't change.

I don't agree with this. Quest Rogue is infamous for being overly polarising, on the other hand even decks are one of the least polarising decks in the meta. Odd decks are more polarising but not to the extent of Quest Rogue. Odd Rogue is as polarising as any other aggro deck. Pre-nerfed Odd Paladin had a decent chance win against everything, its worst matchups were like 40%, it was the best deck in the game but not polarising. The only odd/even deck that is polarising is Odd Warrior. But saying ban Genn/Baku because Odd Warrior is polarising is like saying ban all the quests because Quest Rogue is polarising or ban all the legendary weapons because Kingsbane is polarising.

Also what is wrong with Odd Paladin playing bad (basic set) cards ? people say HS is so expensive (rightly so), all the meta decks require multiple legendaries and epics and you are saying nerf Odd Paladin because it plays cards like Raid Leader and Stormwind Champion.

I didn't compare Quest Rogue and Odd/Even decks on their ability to be polarizing. Please read next time.

I compared them on the fact that even with nerfs on key components, they are never going to disappear. They are that good.

And my point about bad cards and Odd Pally is really far from what you're saying. It's only a proof that Odd Pally wil survive to next rotation, because it still good when it runs bad cards (because they r gonna lose a lot of good cards).

So yeah, read next time please.

Just change their effects to battlecries. That weakens them but still makes them justicar level of playable when you want to make cool home brews, and frees up design space exponentially. I think that's the more important key point to take away from this,

That would make them WAY worse than Justicar. You have to limit cards to odd/even AND wait to draw Genn or Baku?!? Why would anyone play Baku over Justicar?

Totally true. It would kill them so much hard, that it's almost the same as banning them at this point XD.

They should nerf them to "if your deck has only odd/even cost cards, upgrade/discount HP AND destroy one of your mana crystals."

That's interesting... I didn't thought of that! That would hurt by a lot aggro/tempo decks. Only Odd Warrior could maybe be not that much hurted. It would maybe kill the Odd/Even decks, but the design would still be okay. We know how much mana is important in this game.

    Well thought!

Yeah, some of you might remember this thread and I wanted to talk again of it. To summarize, I proposed to ban Genn Greymane and Baku the Mooneater of the game. When I created the thread, it was before the nerf to Level up. Since then, another wave of nerf was announced earlier this week and will be in the game on February 5th. I saw a lot of thread talking about the issue of Genn and Baku. I was really curious what people now thinks after a lot things happened.

Do you think we should ban Genn and Baku at the next standard rotation (in next April)? What do you think we must do in their cases?

I would like to know your opinion on that. Imo, it's impossible to nerf them without killing the design and to HoFed them because the issue in Wild will grow at each expansion in coming years. Some good reason to ban them for me:

    - Odd/Even decks are the new Quest Rogue.

    - They limit diversity. Even/Odd decks are that good that they destroy other aggressive/midrange strategies. Only in Wild that's a bit less true, but that's because of the large card pool. Only really strong decks can compete with them (and they are rare) for the tempo. In the actual meta, Hunter is the only one who can do that and he is going to be nerfed.

    - They limit card design. Nowadays, Blizzard must be very careful with every card they print, because of Odd/Even decks. Nerfs are probably (because Team 5 denied it) affected by this also.

    - They limit interactivity. To press a button is something everyone can do. When your start is always the same, there's no skill involved. Your opponent know what you're going to do. That lead to some really polarizing matchup (especially Odd decks), where the game is almost already done before playing it (because we know the start of each deck). That's really frustrating when you lose only because of who against you queued up.

There's probably other ones, but that sums up the better ones. As I said earlier, I'm really curious what the community now thinks.

I would suggest you Fungalmancer imo. First season I did it with him instead of Gral.

    Shameless deck promotion thread....

I posted the deck only to be able to have the link on the site and the screenshot. That's all. If there's another way to have a BBC code tell me how please.

I just don't understand. Vicious Syndicate highligthed it many times, and yet nobody play this deck. I made some changes from their original list in December (-1 Argent Commander, -2 Fungalmancer, +1 Argent Squire, +1 Graal, +1 Lich King) and hit two times Legend with it. I played 139 games for a winrate of 67%.

Well, if you didn't know this deck before, it's a litterally an hidden gem. The core of the deck is still there at the next rotation, so imo it's a really safe craft.

Is it only becuz people don't know this deck?

Wow, these nerfs are so insane! We needed a big change before next rotation, and either that or ban Genn and Baku would have been okay (maybe better these nerfs after all). And that much early... that's a big gift from Team 5. Yeah! We're gonna see 2 new expansions guys :))))

And yeah, forgot to mention it, no salt at all ;). It's only from a perspective of improving the game and keeping the most players possible. I do enjoy some of the Even/Odd decks. It would feel bad to never play them at first, but if I can save the game and FINALLY have change in the metagame, it's sure that we can quickly forget these decks.

    Quote from Wonderbuster >>

    .......

Baku and Genn aren't even a problem, especially if you go into Wild formats. True, Odd Paladin is a Tier 1 deck, but stronger, more refined Cubelocks, Renolocks, Priests, Druids, and Mages wipe the floor with them. The only real strong Genn deck in Wild is Even Shaman.

I suggest broadening your narrow horizons for the game.

Did I say Odd and Even decks were 100% of the meta? Not at all. In Wild, there's Odd Rogue, Even Shaman and Odd Paladin that are really strong, and others can belong to Tier 2-3. That's still a lot and as I said, Odd/Even decks can only improve with time in this format. And also as I said again, ''Only completely broken cards can compete with Odd and Even decks'' and you mentionned some of these broken decks ;) (Cubelocks, Renolocks, Big Priest, OTK Druid)

Well, before RR, we had TBP. We must admit it, TBP was one of the least impactful expansion we got (and the worst since TGT for me, but that depends of your opinion). A lot of old decks stayed, with not a lot of changes.

Then, I heard a lot of people (and I thought the same) that next HS expansion (that have became RR) will be important for the future of this game. Because a lot of people took a break in TBP, because the best decks were old and a bit frustrating to play against (I don't need to name them I think ;) )

For me, a lot of streamers and players, Rastakhan seemed really good. The flavor is really cool, Rumble Run seemed cool and fun and the powerlevel of the cards seemed high. And I still do think this expansion is great.

Finally, Rumble Run is a total failure and receive a lot of complaints by everyone (or almost). The RNG was blamed a lot and the matchup that feels impossible also (that you can lose on the 3rd boss sometimes). The set by itself didn't impact the meta almost at all, like BTP. Vicious Syndicate, especially, said this in his last report. As I said before, that set is important for the future of HS... And now it worries me a lot.

Well, first question to discuss about: Is HS future in danger now? Or it's going to only lose some players? Or it's totally normal?

2nd thing: I think there's a way to deal with it. And that's how:

Ban Genn Greymane and Baku the Mooneater from the game. Not even in the hall of fame. Yeah, that sounds weird at first look and unusual, but it's probably the best way to make Hearthstone great again (mouahahah)

Since WW and the release of those cards, not even a single expansion really made an impact on the game. Ouch. Only completely broken cards can compete with Odd and Even decks, a lot from them come from KC and KoFT. That's why a lot of people think rotation will save HS, but hey, WW is in the year of the Raven. Baku and Genn, with their usual polarized deck, are gonna lose a lot of elements, but as other decks will also. Upgraded HP is so good that these decks can afford running bad cards that had never seen play. So why would it change after the rotation, when other decks will all be a lot weaker? And I don't even talk about Wild, because they are already SO good there and they can only be better with time... And also about now, the metagame seems to be aproximately the same since 3 expansions and HS needs some fresh air and nerfing cards from last year won't change the biggest issue of the game currently.

So it became an evidence to me that they need to be nerfed. But there's no way of doing it without killing the design and Team 5 hate that. I don't want to put them in HoF, Wild is still going to be broken with always the same decks, no matter the expansion (if the power level of the expansions is following TBP and RR). So, I came to the conclusion to ban them, even if it's unusual. We're in an online game, what does limit us? The metagame will be changed from its core and even more at the rotation. That would be... insanely fun. It would be like if two new expansions (TBP and RR) were released at the same time.

Well, that took a long time writing, hope you enjoy and if a lot of you agree it would be cool if Team 5 finally listen to us, because something is needed NOW.

the only difference with your packs is a golden legendary instead of a normal legendary, and an epic/golden rare instead of a common. So yeah, not the best ever pack, but one of the best as I said.

Agree with the cards you mentionned, except Thekal. I think it's not a card to play in curve, but to get extra health and harder to kill for a Tog or Maly Druid for example. And your explanations are well done also.

I think also Mojomaster is also a bit underrated, because it can litterally shut down combo decks in the good decks (like Immortal Prelates ones, because Prelates cost 2 ;) ). I know she's hyped quite a lot, but I think the meta will completely change because of this card alone (and even more with the others cards). It's our new Dirty Rat guys!
