Yeah, Maiev is a good one.

Rogue may have the least overall heroes but at least Mage will have ONE good alternative now.  The default is great but Fire Jania, Kadgar, and Mediv are all pretty bland/bad IMO.

posted a message on 17.6 Balance Updates - Many Nerfs planned for July 14th!

    - They aren't huge but these are still pretty disappointing nerfs for Wild in general.

(I am aware that blizzard doesn't give a shit about Wild.)

Still, half these changes will make control + highlander mages and rogues worse when they were already mediocre, trending bad.

    Really unfortunate.

    - Kayn and Meta nerfs won't do much to demonhunter IMO, those cards will still do the same things, on the same turns, just slightly worse.

Warglaives nerf is the only one I see having any balancing effect on top-tier decks in Wild. It's a fun card to play, but from experience, I know the played winrate had to be absurdly high, so this nerf was a good call.

    - Corsair Cache nerf will do absolutely nothing to lessen pirate spam in the pre-Legend ranks.

and Open the Waygate is still a thing that exists at all...so overall I will remain a salty main in a neglected format post-nerfs.

    Cheers

posted a message on Functionality of Zephrys

Zephrys being garbage at offering viable options is a big part of why highlander really isn't worth playing in Wild TBH.

I say this as a wild, highlander main.   -_-

All except one of my rare card rewards was Equality o.O seemed bugged.

It's fine though I had two golden copies I wanted to replace with normal to get the dust since I don't play paladin anymore really. :)

posted a message on Priests are killing the game for me more than Demons hunters.

As a former control priest main, I can tell you this is a real thing 😣.

I never roped or intentionally played slow but my decks naturally led to 25+ minute games easy, even longer in wild. You could tell a lot of people would quit way earlier than they really should have due to not wanting to go for such long games.

It's not just a preist thing though, you see the same thing happen in most CCGs while playing blue/white control.

Edit: I've only seen 1 priest opponent in my last 30 games in wild though, maybe play wild if you hate seeing priest. It's all mages.

That sounds fun, I made a really boring but strong dragon highlander Hunter deck to get my pack win in but this could be a good brawl to goof around.

posted a message on How many total wins do you have ?

Who's got the most so far? Screenshots aren't loading on my phone big enough to read. So posted totals are appreciated! Can't screenshot myself atm though, on my phone.

I've got 1.1kish arena wins, which was entirely from beta & vanilla, I haven't played it in years but used to do very well and could go infinite. Under 2k games total played was enough to entirely burn me out on that format though. Really don't like how HS does drafts, just can't compare to MTG style drafts and I don't like phantom drafting in general.

Constructed I'm at almost 13k wins, 2k + in the last few months. Before Dragon's Descent expansion, I hadn't played more than 20 games a month the last 3 years though, so you can tell I used to be a very heavy player.

I had a really physically and mentally draining employment situation for the first few years the game was out, so everyday I'd come home, get stoned, and play for like 4 hours to decompress.

I'd probably have like 20k wins if I didn't make so many major misplays at the time from being high LMAO 😂

I haven't tried it in this list because I don't care much for Voidlord as a card, power creep has badly weakened it since its time in the limelight. IMO Enhanced Dreadlord is so much better in the same role and I have loved it in this deck.  I would also really hate how Voidlord would dilute Karenthrad Ebonlocke and Bloodreaver Guldan's battlecries with 1/3 Voidwalkers (and choke the board with N'zoth also), one of which I usually end up copying to grind out wins in long control games.

After a few awkward games with double early Voidcallers, I did end up swapping out the duplicate for a Twisted Knowledge. I've found that I am often reaching winning board states in the mid/early-late game based around combos with Cube, Al'ar, Zola, Umbra, or Sylvannas, so the duplicate Voidcaller didn't really feel needed as I have win conditions other than a big board of demons with my deck alterations.

I still think 2 copies of Voidcaller is fine though, as long as your meta isn't hyperfast.  As you pointed out the chance to draw one duplicate copy before you usually need or want to play highlander cards is quite high.

I've only played 5 more games but had no more losses (13-2 now) and twisted Knowledge is performing well as an options engine.  The only cards underperforming for me atm are Bran and Doomsayer. Doomsayer is just too hard to trigger or use effectively without a freeze combo (mage main here haha) and having cut Dirty Rat from the deck doesn't help with that either. Bran is of course, on paper, one of the best cards in the game but in practice, with this deck, it always ends up burning my cards due to hand overflow or just acting as a 'win more' card that I didn't really need to play. I may cut Bran to re-add Rat to the list.

I play on NA in low platinum atm, don't really have time to climb, though this or a similar deck can definitely do it if you don't mind long games.  Been farming control and spell mages (30ish % of matchups) with this deck in my meta situation mostly.

Sorry for the ignorant question but is the egg token Al'ar leaves behind on death of the main card, a deathrattle effect or a special effect that just has to survive for one turn to resurrect Al'ar?

I drew Al'ar in a pack but haven't used it yet because if the egg isn't a deathrattle, it seems kinda bad.  Bad in the same way that Nithhogg looks good on paper but the eggs aren't deathrattles and so easily killed for nothing but the opportunity cost of damage elsewhere that it isn't a good card outside of certain niches.

I MIGHT try Al'ar in some kind of clone deck but outside of that I would never throw it in a random deck and hope for good gy results.

The egg isn't a deathrattle. It's a start of your next turn effect, like Nithogg's eggs.

Thanks for the reply, I ended up trying Al'ar in a wild control lock list with a lot of deathrattle synergies and it has performed surprisingly well.

It's been good both at forcing fast opponents to slow down and trade cards/waste turns dealing with it and in becoming a midgame beatdown threat outright winning a few games against slow decks when I'm able to copy or trigger the deathrattle with synergy plays.  I suspect if I was higher rank it wouldn't have performed as well against skilled/experienced players but I was pleased with the results in gold/plat.

Next time I get around to playing elemental mage I'd definitely slot Al'ar into that deck as well but so far as I suspected it is a very niche card that doesn't really seem to have a place outside of elemental or deathrattle lists and I feel like it is possibly too slow for the standard format even in such decks.

posted a message on New Totem Shaman destroys current meta

Seen this deck/variations a number of times on ladder, usually a pretty easy win for my highlander mage but this one time everything lined up just right for the shaman and I got absolutely exploded by GIANT 12/x totems on turn 4.

Pretty crazy, a fun deck to play against, so thanks for putting this out there.

Zavrothar has antisynergy with this deck due to it being a demon. I wouldn't use it, pulling it with voidcaller instead of the other demons would be quite bad.

Zilliax is just a very good control card in general but it doesn't have much synergy here, totally replaceable IMO, there is already lots of healing.

Voidcaller is the key card to the deck, it enables all the demon combo plays here and two should rarely hurt you.

edit: played 10 games, lost 2.

One loss was to a greedy control priest who had great rolls while my RNG was terrible. Despite chalking that loss up to bad luck, I still felt like this deck might have trouble with control priest in general, but didn't face anymore to see for sure.

The other loss was to a fast quest shaman. Even though I had a great curve to trade early, I got screwed and died midgame to a  wide board of dorks and a lava rager or some crap by not being able to play kazakus or zephrys for AOE due to not having drawn either voidcaller. Didn't make me cut a copy but I definitely thought about it.

Ultimately my card changes were -1 healbot, -1 zillax, -1 dirty rat, +1 carnivorous cube, +1 al'ar, +1 gnomeferatu.  I have bad history with rat backfiring and gnome has more highroll + ragequit potential IMO so that is reason for that switch.

I didn't miss healbot or zillax, since I didn't face many aggro or burst decks to need them but the cube never really performed so I'd cut it if I played anymore (maybe add hellfire?).

Al'ar turned out to be a really good addition and won several games alone or in combo with expired merchant (surprisingly).

posted a message on Seriously, why has Whizbang moved to Wild?

Yeah OP, I crafted golden Whizbang day 1 with no regrets, I loved playing it especially at the release of new expansions, so I miss that right now.

Even though I have the collection size to play better decks than the basic recipe ones Whizbang used, the random aspect and challenge of not knowing what I was going to play plus the bling of playing it in all gold/premium was just so much fun.

I know I really should disenchant it now but I'm holding on to a tiny hope it gets moved to classic/basic because it really is unplayable in wild and it was such a fun card.

On the other hand, I kinda doubt  know it will never be brought back to standard because it discouraged casual players from buying packs if they could just use Whizbang, and we all know how much Blizz/Activision loves that pack $$$.
