Yeah, this game can go to hell. Can't wait to see all the folks complaining about GI realize that the meta is probably going to be even worse without her. Meanwhile I will be playing my surveil control deck in mtg. Have fun with druid stone kids.
I have to say that this is the worst meta I have ever seen in this game. People say that the problem is coming from playing too much, but for me that is not the case. I can't even get through one match without hating myself, my opponent and Hearthstone in general. Imagine a fighting game where occasionally you are matched against an opponent who locks your character and you can do nothing but wait to lose, concede or jump around to make things a little more interesting for your opponent. That was Hearthstone before this meta. Now change the "occasionally" to "every other game" and that is Hearthstone now.
Folks often compare other card games to chess and Hearthstone to checkers. I don't agree with that. There is currently more counter play and skill in a game of tic tac toe than in Hearthstone. This game isn't even on checkers level. And that is heartbreaking for a game that I have played for 4 years and spent too much money on.
Yes? What is this stupid ass thread? Pro Hearthstone players either amass a large following through content creation, they win, or both. Joe Schmoe legend grinder is a no name hack that cracks under pressure. The entire idea of pro players being worse than regular legend players and making more misplays is a fallacy. You don't watch the nobodies nearly as much as the people in the spotlight, so how can you act like you know something? Also, for the record, some of the most embarassing tourney misplays have come from open tournaments where the average legend players showed up. Hearthstone is a game where the best are hovering around 60% winrates because Hearthstone is a shitty game. Quit confusing it's dumbed down bullshit of a player base that thinks they are top dogs because they grind a bunch of this children's card game at a 51% winrate with the people who actually put in the time to earn that 60%.
I had more fun with a limited collection. Playing sub-optimal cards, being scrappy and getting to have fun with actual deck building is a blast. Then one day you will have a tier one deck and your enjoyment will sink tremendously. You will eventually reach a point where playing homebrews feels pointless and is punished every step of the way, even in casual. Enjoy playing against others who have a limited collection like you for as long as you can. There is nothing worse than feeling like you have to play cards you don't want to in order to win, but that's Hearthstone.
"Super fun"- Plays divine spirit inner fire. Use your board clear cards to clear boards. Use your draw to draw your cards. Play spells when Lyra is on board. Divine Spirit Inner Fire the minions with "big" health. Silence taunts to hit face with big minion. Play defensively against aggro. Play proactive against everything else.
Who cares? It all feels disconnected and without purpose. You know for all praise HS gets for it's WoW based lore. I don't really get any of that. No expansions really feel connected as if we are making our way through a story. It's all just random, much like Hearthstone itself. With that said. They should do a Troll/Zombie theme. Just rip off Dead Island, take your sandy beaches and ocean waves mixed with zombies.
Just run some other card draw, e.g. Arcane Intellect.
If his deck is built right, it should already have two copies of Arcane Intellect. My advice to the op is to either force craft Luna. (Go through and disenchant literally every card in your collection that you don't play, starting with commons and working your way up or vice versa. Let go of sentimental value.) Or add in a Loot Horder. lol
Meanwhile just a week or so after Blizzard says everything is fine, then we get a tweet saying that card changes are coming. What changed? Well MtGA dropped and so did Hearthstone's player base/ twitch viewer numbers. MtGA over took Hearthstone's spot on more than one occasion and has been the talk of the town in every HS community I have visited. But in this thread, we are going to pretend that Artifact isn't going to affect HS in any way despite launching with a suite of features that fans and pros have been asking Team 5 for for years. Not to mention the majority of big names in Hearthstone have been singing the Artifact praise. Sure guys, keep drinking that kool-aid.
Artifact is going to be the best thing to happen to HS in years. Watch as new features come pouring in as Hearthstone desperately tries to keep up with a game that has released 5 years after the fact.
People acting like the fact that Artifact isn't free to play somehow means that Hearthstone is safe, and yet you so often forget, the people who spend money on HS are the ones Blizzard is in danger of losing. Your f2p ass means little besides helping queue times be slightly faster.
Rogue: Nerf Quest again, this time into oblivion. Or get over your bullshit reasoning and rotate this crap early.
Warrior: Nerf the upgraded hero power or change it entirely.
Druid: Nerf everything. Seriously, it doesn't matter where you kick this guy but it needs several changes to be reasonable. I suggest the entire package. Druid can be in poor state for a few sets while you find a newer more healthy path to take him in.
Shaman: I would love to see a change to shudderwock so that it's no longer a brain dead control killer that is almost as bad as quest rogue.
Mage: Get rid of Mana Wyrm already. An early rotation could be the answer.
Hunter: I would like to see Deathstalker rexxar nerfed or rotated early. Again, this crutch of a card allows you to build your deck in anyway you please while giving you a win condition even after the opponent survives your deathrattle onslaught and finally stabilizes.
Paladin: Meh. Perhaps you could buff something here. Sick of this class being boring ass that does everything worse than others. Make dudes and buff them. If you can't give 9 classes unique fun identities, then maybe it's time to reassess your decision to have 9 classes.
Warlock/priest: I think is fine. Priest is a victim of a weak core set. That is another problem entirely and if anyone has any intelligence at Blizzard, this will be the last year of classic and basic as we know it.
Neutral: Nerf Oakheart to 10 mana or have him pull less. Keleseth only gives attack buffs. Henchclan Thug only receives attack buffs.
I don't expect all these changes, but if they don't change enough, we are going to be bored again in a week. This is Blizzard's moment. Their hand has clearly been forced by the arrival of MTGA and they underestimated how many streamers and players would walk away. If the meta ends up even close to the same spot it was in before these nerfs, people will leave again almost immediately. As Gordon Ramsey would say. "Balance your fucking game!"
Because it's literally impossible to interact with your opponent during your opponents turn outside of the terrible secret mechanics and things like Lotheb or auras. Mtg has counter spells because Magic let's you play cards during your opponents turn. The only way to change this is to change hearthstone's core and allow phases between plays instead of how it is now.
You are asking for depth in an ankle high pond my friend.

Let's nerf giggling to hurt Quest rogue's winrate by .5%. Also let's nerf tempo mage, quest rogue's hardest counter to increase their winrates.

How disappointing. Glad my main focus has shifted to MTGA

I would dust every card I own for an Artifact beta key.

We don't even have the option to auto squelch opponents. This is as good as Hearthstone gets kiddo.
