posted a message on Trump believes that Priests are going to be just as bad as they were in Karazhan.

Purify priest needs one more silence card and it'd be fantastic, and I disagree with priest being "competitive" in the current ladder.  The requirements for priest stuff to work correctly is way too high.  Got a northshire? If you can get it to stick that's wonderful, but good luck with that.  And maintaining control (which is what Priest is supposed to be the best at) just isn't possible anymore. Cabal Shadow Priest is a great example of the problem, in vanilla it was the best non legendary 6 drop.  The tempo swing was so strong.  Now, many expansions and the power creep from them leaves us with a bad card.  What can you really do with it on 6?  The best matchup looks to be Taunt warrior and fair is fair, grabbing an Alley Armorsmith is an amazing tempo play.  Is it an over priced card in every other matchup, probably?  The other great thing about the Cabal Shadow Priest is that it did it's job without help...Now you need a pint sized potion to make the card useful, which creates consistency problems.  Which is the real problem with priest, when you get the god draw, you feel like the best player ever, but the power levels of the priest cards in the latest expansions still have quite a bit of power when you get things working, but it's still woefully inconsistent and it's power, relative to the increases the other classes have gotten hasn't kept up.

TL;DR - Priest's problem isn't how slow it is, it's how inconsistent it is.  When it works you feel like you should be on a stage getting paid for your genius.  When it doesn't work, priest mains that like to play their own decks, are happy about the new ranked floors at 15 10 and 5.

This is very close to my day 1 Ungoro Taunt warrior deck.  One question - if I am consistently playing against  control warrior and control priest should I drop a ww?  Also what to replace 1 of the Sleep with the Fishes.  I have one, but I don't know how good the card is going to be down the road in the expansion?  I miss Wallet Warrior.

So that's the deck I've been playing tonight (full disclosure I copied the Deathwing Curator Primordial Drake combination from Sjow's deck so ...) and I'm pretty sure that the hard carries are the Brass Knuckles and making sure to keep myself as healthy as possible so that I can kill minions as they come out.   I don't know about Tech or what is pullable and what isn't, but it doesn't seem to lack steam in the 8 games I've had so far with it.  (3 games against quest warrior.  3-0)  If anyone could help me tune it that'd be fantastic.   I think Hobart, while a great idea, is so hit or miss that he just never goes off, when he does it is beautiful.   I wonder if the weapons are just garbage and I shouldn't be trying so hard to fit something as clunky into it?  If I were to pull things what should I start with and what should I replace them with.

Thanks in advance this forum is really helpful

I run 2x shadow visions.  I see why people don't run them, but I don't enjoy RNGStone.  They give you a little bit of insurance for a silence.  Just make sure to keep track of what's in your deck still.

I've been messing around with something similar.   Too much aggro around my (admittedly terrible) rank.   I really think Barnes is an optimistic include though.  If he pulls something decent he's great, but he feels like the hail mary pass of HS.  When it works it's looks like it's the best possible play, but it's so RNGesus dependent.

The problem with priest as I see it is that it's hamstrung by it's need for very specific combinations to do things.  Need reliable early game card draw?  Northshire is brilliant when it works and garbage when it doesn't....Need a reliable board clear?   Before Dragonfire Potion you were stuck with Auchenai > Circle of Healing.  The nature of the class is not reliable.

Yay more wallet warrior. [/s]   I get that the class has removal, but it's so boring. Paladin is my jam.

posted a message on Please help a returning player on what the actual differences are between Midrange and Control?

Thanks for the reply first off.  I see what you are saying about what makes it control or Midrange, though I do think that Aggro has a distinct difference - prioritizing damage to the opponent rather than control of the board.  It's why Reynad Zoo was a ultimately a fast control deck, as opposed to pirate warrior.  Zoolock wanted board control above an early finish.  Pirate warrior wins by hitting the opponent.  Playing for board control generally loses winnable games.   They both want to finish quickly, but they accomplish it differently.

Onto your point about class balance and the nefarious nature of design.  I disagree with lack of balance being motivated by profit.  We can both agree that there is absolutely no way to balance 9 classes.  Throw in the obvious imbalance of hero powers and it gets far worse.  Look at M:tG, Black and Blue were far and away the most powerful colors for at least through Ice Age.  I may be missing something obvious, but Mono Green never had a dominant deck back then.  I had stopped playing around that time so I couldn't say what came later.  For the same reasons that the Warlock hero power is stupidly strong.  Card Advantage and paying for things in life totals.  You never lose a game because you are LOW on life, but you do lose a game because you run out of options.  Ancestral Recall isn't in the power 9 because it lets you make your opponent draw three cards. Aside from Millstone decks it's only for reloading.  So with that caveat I'd say that Hearthstone isn't ever going to be balanced.  Power Creep is real.  It's always going to be.  It's not nefarious in nature.  The problem with HS is the overwhelming power that aggro gets from not having to draw basic resources.   Hopefully the Quest mechanic mitigates this problem.

On one deck being un counterable - That's not what I was asking for.  I know that's a fantasy.  I was asking a more general question of if there was any help available for me or if my quest for consistent Paladin control is a waste of my time.  Here's what I've been messing around with when I play - I'm not going to buy League of Explorers and anything rotating out at the beginning of the year I'm not crafting.  So No anyfins and only 1 Enter the Coliseum.  You are completely correct - Paladin can't deal with a board that gets out of control, equality consecrate is clunky and trying to get SGT Sally to be useful is laughably difficult.  the other issue is it Lacks removal.  Aside from all that, when it rolls it destroys Reno decks.  The problem is tempo decks.  Any ideas would be great.  Thanks again for the response.

As League of Explorers is going out of Standard I decided to pass on it.   I really don't like OTK combo decks though.   I was really hoping for some ideas on a control Paladin deck that plays like classic Control warrior.  Sadly Paladin lacks the removal I need.  Thanks for the reply though, I suppose when Un Goro comes out...

Like the title says.  I played from a little before release through the beginning of BRM, I WANT to play my slow, fun decks, not who got the more optimal aggro draws.  Blizzard's half hearted attempts at slowing the meta down got to me when they decided that Deep Pockets Dragons was the new Wallet Warrior.   It just pushed me away.  I decided to give Un Goro a chance because Blizzard appears to realize that the game should be fun for me and my type of player too.   Anyway enough about all that.  I have always wondered what the difference is between the 3 major archetypes (and is there a paper/rock/scissors relationship between them.?)  I understand what aggro is.  Midrange and control are harder for me to define.  I ask here in the Paladin forum because I tend to enjoy paladin (and let's be real Tirion is a boss.) I've been tinkering around with a sort of Paladin hand buffing deck that tries to get Wickerflame Burnbristle buffed up, but I seem to run out of steam.  Anyone else have any ideas?

I think it's got potential, and Justicar Trueheart  has some merit in the deck for the lategame matchups.  It might need  a Poison Seeds and maybe more taunt.  I don't really know, this is my first attempt at putting together a mill deck.  Any tips on playing it or deck construction advice is appreciated.

posted a message on What to craft Justicar or Varian?

I think that Justicar is a far better card in at least 3 decks, warrior, Paladin and Priest.  Varian is a showstopper in the Control mirror matchup, but sort of fails in other matchups.  I also agree that Justicar is a better card overall, though if you still lack Geddon or Rag you may want to craft one of those beforehand. (though I'd not recommend geddon because it's essentially a tech card at this point and when the meta (hopefully) slows down you won't want it in your deck nearly as much.
